Two years ago, I was in deep sadness when I stumbled upon Mikey's food adventures, honestly it helped me so much to maintain my sanity. I was a picky eater before, I do not take risk in tasting different cuisines, but Mikey changed my perspective when it comes to trying out really good food and I do not regret it. I became more adventurous when it comes to food. I enjoyed more varieties of food now. Thanks to all of your vlogs Mikey.
Mikey helps me, too. I know his Dumpling channel is more popular but I prefer this one. He’s just calm and comforting but also honest. I found him years ago, he had a channel called Beyond Science. It was about mysterious history mainly, unexplained anomalies of historic sites that science couldn’t explain. I LOVED that channel. He hooked me with his personality (and he’s handsome but that’s not why I watch). I usually don’t watch people eating food but I watch every one of his videos on this channel. And I’ve been vegan for 12 years, lol. I just get comfort from Mikey.
My mother is from Seoul. I have never been to Korea and my mother has only been back once in 40 years. I'm trying to save up so I can take her back and experience it with her. I am loving your videos, keep them coming! I would love to see the everyday stuff too, not just food!
That’s super cute and awesome, good luck to you, I want to do the same with my parents for Vietnam, she’s only been back once as well, and my dad hasn’t been back for 30+years. Also I’ve never been as well
I haven’t been in 25 years but I remember how great it was and I would love to go back! So many things have changed and I want to experience it! I so hope you get to go with your Mom 🤞🏼🙏 You will have the best time!!!
You made it to Myeongdong Kyoja!!!! My family LOOOVES that place. Generations of my family have dined there. My parents say it was just as popular and crowded now as it was when they ate there in the 80s. So happy you ate there ❤️
I seriously think travel channel needs to give you your own show. Your sense of adventure and passion for new places and new food is so much fun to watch. I would watch your show every day.
The cold noodles you had are Pyongyang naengmyeon, our most famous food. It is meant to be that way. So if you don't like it, adding mustard is a must. But its flavor is something people get used to and say it's better than Jinju and Mul-naengmyeon
'lamb, beef, my enemy' and 'you like innards right?'- so great to see you living your best life and letting us live vicariously through your adventures during this terrible yr!
Mikey love your vids, u r so wholesome and information while being funny and genuinely wanting to tell people about food. My stepdad introduced you to me and I have loved your vids ever since. WHY CAN MORE RUclipsRS BE LIKE U
When Mikey only used his facial expressions to convey the taste of the first bite of dessert and then said: You know what I’m saying? Me: I really do 😋😄
For the cold noodles there is two branches of noodles. One branch uses strong flavors, the other branch uses very very mild flavors. For me personally, i cant really get used to the mild one, but some people find it absolutely fantastic. Supposedly it is a food that grows on you.
Hi Mikey, I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos and sharing them with us. Your videos are defiantly helping some of us who are still struggling with hard restrictions and lockdowns. Gives us some hope that things can get back to "somewhat normal" soon. Stay safe. :)
Mikey kimchi is made will raw ingredients (including the garlic) :). Raw garlic is present in many Korean dishes. It is also included often in ssam (Korean lettuce wraps).
Finally Mikey experienced true kimchi. The wife of my former Taekwondo grandmaster used to make it fresh all the time and give me some. Super spicy, FULL of garlic, not too sour. That's how it has to be, not those sad little puddles without much taste you tend to get in restaurants. So maybe now you can understand my love for it.
Watching Mikey eat the snow reminds me of playing in the snow and eating it as a child in Northern Ontario Canada. It looked like that in the middle of Jan when our snow banks are 7 feet high on avg. Never thought I would see it with macha on top.
Love how the people arguing just got ignored and a scene wasn’t made.. even the fact that Asians go quiet when people argue. I love that level of respect... or rather self respect
Its not so much respect Asians go quiet. Its a) they don't want to somehow inadvertently get involved b) they are loving the drama playing out before them c) nosy and want to hear what the deal I find my white friends are pretty similar.
I feel like that's a bit of positive racism/exotisisation? In the UK, we generally wouldn't confront people arguing either. I don't think it has anything to do with respect or self respect. Just don't want to get involved in other people's drama.
Man I’ve been following your adventures for a while. You’ve really got me sold on Korean tuna! I’ve seen those cans at Hmart and ZionMarket and I guess next time I go I’ll have to pick one up to see what the hype is about!
Myeongdong Kyoja is seriously one of the best food places I've been to when I went to Seoul! It's also my parents' favourite place to go to while we were there! so glad that you went!
Good to recognize a eatery where I have been, Myongdong Galguksu house. About 3 years ago but very memorable. A friend took us there by memory but thanks to Mikey will get around much better next visit. Prefer to stay Sinchon/Hongdae area but may do Gangnam. Or may do nothing if Covid not under control as will not do quarantine!
