- Figured it was high time I did a rundown of how to press and shape these diminutive decks. Hope it's helpful!

For the love of god please use nitrile gloves when using gorilla glue Chris! Jokes aside thank you for giving me the push in the right direction. Much love from the Netherlands.
Incredible, it would be great to see some mold for fingerboard bushing!
You can use a dremel to countersink the holes.
Good tutorial!
Awesome! thank you!!!
What’s the difference between tub and radial?
Will the new Version be sent to the people who brought the last iteration or would they have to just the new mode files again ?
Could you share the 3d print STL files please
All the print files are available at goodroadscollective.com/shop
@@GoodRoads thank you so much
One more question
Did you design the prints or did you find them somewhere because if you designed them I would like to know what software you used
Yes, these are my own designs. I use Fusion 360
Thank you alot
test
for me wax paper is the easiest to remove without scrapping or sanding.
Great products and videos!! Been loving the presses! The counter sick adapter thing is nice, way to make it short so you don’t go all the way thru! Smart!
I use packing tape to protect my mold but i've also used a sheet of felt in addition to the tape to protect the deck from the layer lines from the 3D printer.
ive been using your original design file for about a year and with FDM printing ive started to use 2 pieces of masking tape on each side of the press. Ive found that i dont get any of the lines from print lines on the press, makes a great quick release too.
Well done. You can cu t the veneer with a box cutter when its soft in the mold if you don´t have a sander.
Did you have to dampen the surface of the veneers before applying? The directions on my polyurethane gorilla glue states the surface should be dampened to activate the glue. Is this the case?
Cheers, j
The atmospheric moisture has always been enough for me and I don't live somewhere particularly humid
@@GoodRoads ahh I see. Thanks for getting back to me. I live in the desert, so I might have some trouble without water. I’ll probably have a spray bottle handy and mist some water on before I apply glue. My only fear is that the water would cause warping.
What size drill bit did you use to drill the four holes?
Thank you so much for the in depth explanation! I'm an old school skater from the 80's and will always be a skater at heart but I quit skating long ago so I wouldn't injure my hands or arms since I now blow glass. But I can do fingerboards!!!
I found myself a new hobby! We'll see where it goes from here!
Glad it was helpful! Have fun with the builds!
yes can you please put the drill adapter up on your site and the bit to go with it? or link me to one please 11:05
Just added it to the shop: www.goodroadscollective.com/shop/p/print-files-fingerboard-countersinking-collet
bought this mold and is really transhy. The drill holes aren't aligned properly and has caused me waste over $50 of veneer and glue and also time.
what size drill? 1/16?
Would love to see you try to tackle casting some fingerboard wheels
Drill bit size?
1/16 inch
ngl i hate routing decks but it's worth it to me 😂
I still don't fully understand why people do that.. unless obviously that is all a person has but if a person had a router, disc sander, or belt sander and chooses a router then rip
@@TimberCreekFingerboards for me, its how quick the process is when you're trying to cut a lot of boards in one day. I tend to stack uncut blanks for a couple weeks and cut them all on the same day so routing them makes this go by a lot faster. with that being said, I am incredibly careful and have learned what not to do while routing with small guides without getting hurt. (luckily if im being completely honest) I wouldn't recommend anyone do this the same way I wouldn't recommend anybody go 150 on a motorcycle. but thats not gonna stop me from doing either of those things lmaooo
@@maigodied3226 😂😂 for sure man we do what we want no judgement here. Honestly I should have re phrased that and said it differently
Website no longer exists....
Fala irmão, as marcas deixadas pela impressão 3d na madeira, consigo tira lixando ?
Obrigado 👊🏼👍🏼🥋
That usually works for me
I think I'd use a jewelers saw to cut the deck out.
Does eBay deliver to Africa? I have been meaning to get into the fingerboard business just cant seem to find any veneer in my country and I am skeptical placing orders overseas
Redemption fingerboards sells a tonne of veneer for decks
Ever tried tite bond? Or hot hide glue? They use it in guitar repair. Supposedly those glue joints are stronger than the wood would ever be. Might be worth a try
Titebond 2 and 3 are great for full size skateboards but since the veneers for fingerboards are so thin all of the moisture in the glue causes serious warping problems in my experience. Hide glue is an amazing material for certain projects, it's flexible and can be removed with heat (which is why it's used in instrument making) but I don't know if it would have the structural properties we need here. Might be worth testing!
Thank you so much for this video 🙏
What size finger board mood is it ???
the best hardware store is woodcraft
