That last story she needs to contact a lawyer immediately if she wants to get her inheritance back. Afterwards she should set boundaries with her mom and tell her if she breaks them to get lost and never speak to her again otherwise things will only get worse.
@Lans32485 I would too but she said she still loved her and she is her mom so if she wants to give her another chance at the very least she should set clear boundaries upfront and let her know the consequences of breaking those boundaries.
You're absolutely right. She should definitely contact a lawyer as soon as possible to sort out the inheritance issue. Setting clear boundaries with her mom is also essential, and she needs to be firm about it. If her mom continues to disrespect those boundaries, cutting ties might be the only way to protect herself and avoid further harm
Regarding the Karen from Story 1 knowing where the OP lives... she's part of the same neighborhood, so it's not a red flag that the Karen knows where OP lives--it might have been difficult for OP to _hide_ that, depending on the circumstances. I do agree with the rest of the narrator's assessment though.
Yeah but if it's in the same neighborhood how did the Karen know where her exact mailing address is? That's the issue right there because OP didn't give it to anyone
That’s a fair point. Since they’re in the same neighborhood, it’s not surprising that the Karen knows where OP lives, and it could have been hard for OP to keep that private in certain situations. I also agree with your thoughts on the rest of the narrator’s assessment, though.
So let me get this straight. OP told this lady that Mochi would probably get stressed in a unfamiliar enviroment, be stressed from a bunch of loud kid, and ether lash out or hide. But she just ignored him and said she would just pick him up? Then showed up with a specially made carrier for him? THis lady probably ignored OP and told her kid they were going to pick up the cat and thought OP was a push over.
Honestly, the audacity of that mom is mind-blowing. She treated " no" like a suggestion and then doubled down by spreading lies. It's good the neighborhood didn't fall for her nonsense. Props to OP for protecting their cat and their peace of mind
Story 1: I sure hope the OP has Mochi collared and chipped/registered with a vet, because you can be sure that this Karen mom will be back again, regardless of her kids birthday. It seems the neighbours know about Mochi, so i would go out and warn them about this Karen. Its totally fine to request Mochi for the party, but not everything that came afterwards. The moment that Karen showed up at my door, i would've immediately called the cops. Absolutely no way i would've let this slide. You can bet that if the OP 'loaned' Mochi, the Karen would've kept him. Good thing no one believed her story but i would've been telling people what she did. Going forward, OP needs to keep an extra eye on Mochi.... because something tells me, the Karen will do something again. Story 2: No way is the OP a jerk here.... and i would also laugh at Emily too. She cheated on Jake here and left her for Mark, so all of her misfortunes are her fault. You reap what you sow here. Story 3: Good on the OP for using this "loophole" to get out of any punishments here. If i were in a Catholic school, i likely would've done something similar here. Story 4: OP isn't a jerk at all here, and given everything that was told about the FIL here.... yeah, i'll agree, he was a pretty bad dad towards Rowan growing up. It's never acceptable to tell your kids that they will never amount to anything. That alone is proof. His subsequent comments towards the OP in the bar just goes to show how awful a human being he is in general, if that's how he immediate talks to someone. I wouldn't pity this guy at all. Story 5: Yeah, this really sucks here. I know where i live, you cannot collect your lottery winnings anonymously.... they have to disclose your name. As for people bugging the OP, i say screw all of them. Even if you win a couple bucks, let alone something big, people will be hounding you for money. I wouldn't give anyone a single dime. The moment you do, they'll keep coming back for more. As for the therapist, i would expose them for demanding the "tip" for their time. I'm pretty sure that classifies as extortion and shouldn't let that slide. Honestly, i think the OP needs to move. Get away from where you are. Story 6: Okay, the mother here is a complete greedy scumbag. If i were the OP, i would get another lawyer here and find out what your options are. Your mom is a terrible person. The fact she took money from the OP and the twin to begin with is bad enough, but to then make this change just because the OPs son wont have the same last name, and then claim the mom has done a lot for them? No way i would stand for that. Get a lawyer and now.
Story five: I would love to have a friend who won the lottery but not to milk her for everything she/he has but to ask her for one thing, a prosthetic arm. Also is this guy a therapist
Story 1: If I Was The OP In That Story And The Entitled Mom Just Showed Up Ready To Stel My Cat I’d Be Like “MY CAT IS MY CAT AND YOU CANT HAVE MY CAT. GET OUT!!!!” And Slam The Door And Lock It On Them
For 1st story, here my message to OP. Take the example on Peanut the Squirrel's incident. That entitled mom most likely will make false report that like a Karen did on Peanut and his raccon friend. As pet owner (I have cat and dog) take my words seriously.
Would Karen borrow her daughter out to a birrhday party just because someone thinks they are cute and the kids want to play with them. OH WAIT SHE'S A KAREN MAYBE SHE WOULD !! LOL
Last story, lawyer up and see if you can sue your mom for control of the trust. Maybe see if you can get back some of the inheritance she bullied you out of. And definitely see if you can get your twin on board. And no matter how it plays out, go no contact, and never let her near your kid.
Story 5 - If you win money, NEVER TELL ANYONE!!! Don't help Anyone either because word will get out. Keep it for yourself. Story 6 - I would've laughed at her and told her "It's MY MONEY and you are NEVER getting access to it!" Also SCREW HER AND HER DUMB NAME. Also, OP, you're an absolute fool for giving her anything.
Last story: First off, OP should not have given into her mother in the first place with the grandmother's trust. Second, get that same lawyer involved if possible, as it sounds like the mother is way out of line.
Story 5: Op, I’ve gotten calls from people asking for money only for them to come back and ask for more and I was forced to cut off contact with them because I felt that they were never gonna stop.
Never tell anyone if you win any more than 50 bucks on the lottery or at a casino. I remember when I was a little kid, telling my grandmother if I won the lottery I'd buy everyone in the family of Volvo, because they were really safe cars. She let me know, at the age of 13. That she would sell that car to do what you wanted with it because a gift is given, and then she could do whatever she wanted with it. But the gift wasn't a car it was a "safe car" even in a hypothetical she told me that it would be hers and she would definitely sell it. So I change it to creating a fleet of vehicles that I would loan out to my family members. And retain the insurance and taxes and all the costs. 😊 If I won the lottery, I would do it this way. Controlling yes, but people can either drive the safe car or not it would be up to them. But no recently. 😊 The problem was my grandmother didn't even have any bad habits her house was paid off she didn't have any outstanding bills and drove rattletraps that was 30 years old, and they broke down all the time and she had to get something else or is it spend a bunch of money on repairs. So what would you do with the money just put it in the checking account and babysit it, continue buying rattle traps and wasting the money slowly on the pieces of dog crap cars. I remember one had a hole in the passenger floor, and you could see the road flying by. And I'd sit in the middle of the bench seat when I was six and seven.
Story 2 doesn't make sense. Yes, the priest is not allowed to talk about what he was told durimg a confession. However, if misconduct is revealed by another authority that would affect the school (weekend parties are completely irrelevant to the school anyway, there is no legal leeway in this regard, unless one was held on school property), secular punishment would still follow. 😅
You're not the jerk for wanting your kid to have your husband's last name. That's usually how it works, and rarely does it go the other way. You are the jerk for entertaining your mom's bullshit in the first place. There's a reason your mom was cut out of the will, and I'm guessing her entitled attitude is why. You need to get a lawyer, and hope it's not too late to fix this.
Rule of thumb for me do not give away money if someone wants money from me I will have a contract made showing that I lend the money to them and for extra security have a witness and a video recording of the incident because I've had people who had lent money before trying to declare that the contract was a forged signature
Story 5 if you win the lottery I have to agree you should not tell anyone because they will just keep asking you for money and if you do accidentally let it slip or do you end up telling people then I would just also mention to them a little white lie and say yeah I went ahead and donated all of it or most of it towards a charity so it stops them badgering you for that large amount of money Story 6 I would definitely go ahead and try to get a lawyer and see if you can get access to that money back because if she's going to do that then she doesn't deserve that money and it's over something so petty especially since it's over a stupid last name. If you do have access to go ahead and withdraw your portion then I would definitely withdraw it and tell her that she will not have any more access to your portion and I would definitely get a lawyer so that you can go through the legal routes and not get in trouble because what she did was very petty and stupid and I think you and your family deserve better than to deal with your stupid mothers pettiness all because you won't give your son her last name. She's doing this on purpose and it's very inappropriate and I would definitely take her to court if you can over this.

The only boundry I'd set after this IS no contact.

Story 1: **wields scimitar** “HASSAN, CHOP!” Seriously, hands off what doesn’t belong to you. The neighbor and her daughter are entitled brats.
*Story 1:* What's this karen neighbour's problem? 😡
Entitlement.

$20 for the inconvenience of lending an anxious cat out? Nah, the Feliway OP will need to calm Mochi down after is gonna cost more than that, Karen
First rule of Winning the Lottery: Don't talk about winning the lottery.
Second rule of Winning the Lottery: DON'T TALK ABOUT WINNING THE LOTTERY!
If only it were that easy. I know where i live, you can't collect anonymously. They have to disclose your name.
to the OP in story 1,im a cat owner myself and ill defend my child for someone who would take him away

Hell yeah like whod want to give a entitled S.o.b a deserved possession of money she doesn't deserve the money because she was an entitled person
The Karen did not steal the cat 🐈 at all she did was being a nuisance asking for unreasonable things
