Do you mean by 'Godlike' that Shak can toss back some of his advantage to Maxime, so that it looks like a tough game, yet retain enough of an advantage so that he still wins? Reason I ask: Shak's play was far from superior for a Super-GM.
@@UtzChips2009 Shak may as well play the safe but not as good move. He was dominating from like move 14. As for MVL moving the knight to a5, he needs to move it somewhere, and none of the squares are particularly good. Four of the moves are obvious blunders. Nd4 and Na5 are the only options, and white seems better in both.
@@honourabledoctoredwinmoria3126 And that is what I would have done...being the average player I am. I'm just waiting for that player to come along with the talent that Fischer, Kasparov & Carlsen [along with others] had back in their day. It's a shame Carlsen has burned out so much early in life that he can't beat Caruana in a classical format. I followed those games closely & it's a shame the players undershorts were so baggy & lacked the mettle to play like a man.
3.1k views in 35 mins->Agad doing big things!! Love the channel & Thanks for great videos! Also, congratulations on your new title! On a side note, I'm shocked that MVL was defeated in 28 moves, especially in Classical format. I hope everyone has a great day + great week!!
The clock app is awesome! Really great job for everyone involved! Only thing I would like, is for the user to be able to disable (if he wants) the movement of the horizontal line that goes up and down everytime a player hits the clock (changing the size of the respective black and white areas). Sometimes with my friends we play bullet games and we allow ourselves to hit the clock with the other hand (not the one that moved the piece, since that hand is further away from the clock and our free hand can always be floating above the clock that we are using to hit it immediately!) if we made a valid move (so in a way we are pre-moving the piece) and on the lichess clock, the screen is big enough for us to do that, but here pre-moving might not work so efficiently, because the remaining screen for the other player is just too small for him to do so. So for patzers like us, we'd love if there was an option to allow or disallow the sizes to change when we hit the clock. (so for example, if we disallow it, it just remains solid giving equal space for both players like the lichess clock in the lichess app) :)
6:51 what about black pawn from row 5 to 5th from left to row 4 5th from left? Or rook to row 5 3rd from left? Or queen to 3rd row 8th from left take pawn? Or bishop to 4th row 8th from left? Or reposition knight to row 6 3rd from left? It seems to me that black is in a better offensive position while white is a defensive player? It doesn’t seem to me that white is in a position to check so I’m not seeing a need to lead him. to me he’s trying to do the equivalent of “spawn camping”. Move his bishops.. win the game? I’m predicting black wins..? (I’m gonna try this “predicting” once, I’m an amateur lol).
After hearing Agadmator flawlessly articulate so many tongue-twisting foreign chess player names to then hear his pronunciation of "Thomas" at the end of the video at 12:32 made me burst out laughing
4:07 -- Maxime's troubles are thus: Prior to White's Bf4, Black's position is already suboptimal enough to be exploitable by White should Black, subsequent to the pawn exchange on f4, attempt for anything more than a draw after forced clearance of material, e.g., Bf4, Bxd4, Nxd4, Qxd4, Qxe7, Qxb7, Nd7, etc. (I.e., at 4:30 after c5, Black's only good move is Nd4 to exchange via Nxd4, Bxd4. White remains better at +0.9, but isn't clearly freewheeling quite yet. But if Na5, then White is up +1.25 and building a real head of steam.) -- So, what's going on? It can be traced to Black's own queen sitting on d7 inhibiting his development. The solution? Back at 2:50. when the the seemingly pointless queen check is thrown your way, you should play Nd7, not Qd7. After castling (and unpinning), your knight is now optimally placed for center-board action.
The knight on A5 looks like it's grazing. Grazing nights are only good for glue. Also, the wouldbe dragon of a bishop turns into a lizard is the best comment ever, well done sir.
I don't understand many things as my knowledge is far from vast. but A) why not trade down in the center and gain a pawn? Maybe not worth it? (at 4:11)
10:01 this is not a zugzwang. Zugzwang is when any of your move will make your position worse than it is now, and you would like to skip your move. This was not the case in the MVL's position, which was lost anyway.
after bishop takes, d takes c6 threatening both bishop and queen, so black will end up loosing at least a night and a bishop for the rook which is not worth it
Good question! Two pieces are better than a rook and a pawn, though they're both 6 points. Also it's well known that black's dark square bishop is an essential defender of the king in many positions that have the KID structure on the kingside, for both colors, while the rook on the a file takes a long time to do anything. Basically, black's dark square bishop is better than the a file rook by itself, It's often not worth it for black to go up the exchange by taking that rook, so for black to go down 2 pieces to get that rook is a terrible choice. The problem is that dxc6 comes with tempo on the queen, white can insert that nice little zwishenzug before recapturing on a1.
On d5 if Bg7 x Ra1, white play d5 x Kc6 attack the Queen, so B x c6 and black pick up the B by R x a1, the result blacks gained a quality but lost a piece.
@@patrickdaly1088 Good explanation! I just thought that since that Knight and 'lizard'/bishop weren't really effective for the rest of the game, trading those pieces for a rook and a central pawn would be really beneficial. No master here tho

Why would you want to take a pawn and completely lose an already unstable defensive position? Moving the black queen weakens the rook allowing the white pawn to make a move threatening it and freeing the white queen... Also there's no continuation after taking the H3 pawn.
The way to prevent this Qa4-Qa5 maneuver, which stops c5 and is annoying in general, is to play c5 before going Bg7. It also cuts down greatly on theory you need to know. The downside is that you have to be ready to sac a pawn in some lines, but that's fine. Maybe not 2700+ fine, but ok for us mere mortals.
