I really love that part about being a true to yourself during the search process. It's powerful because as you mentioned worse thing you can do is have to fake the funk the entire time of who you are vs who you really are.
my takeaway is you don't end up with a mentor like it's some sort of ceremonial ritual, but one that you suddenly realize hey... this friend i've known for x years IS my mentor. it just happens over the course of a friendship.
