I now have 3 DC reels all of are scorpions and I love these reels. nothing like that sound & not having to use ya thumb & most importantly no backlashes.. 2017 & 2021 scorpion DC..
Awesome, my first DC was the 17 Scorpion something about that reel that they just got right. It seems to still stand the test of time and be a solid choice. The JDM DCs are super fun to try. Curado DC is currently one of my favorites.
for lighter lures, many ppl using slx dc xt say they can throw as low as 2 grams. try searching for "slx dc xt bfs" under the channel thereeltest. he casts small lures and thats the reason i bought a slx dc xt for light/ bfs
I have the 21 DC Antares as well. I haven't fished anything that light with it yet. I have thrown weightless soft plastics with no issues. It is a very capable reel for a lot of different lures. Might be a line issue, or a settings adjustment.
I've got them wet, rinsed them off after a day of fishing etc. I wouldn't recommend submerging them completely. From the best of my knowledge and from my experience I have never had an issues with water affecting performance.
I think that's a great idea. I think the DC makes it easier for everyone. Especially if you are learning how to use a bait casting reel. Let me know what you decide, depending upon your budget the Curado DC is an awesome reel.
@@flexjerven7247 SLX is a good entry DC reel. My son started out with the SLX DC. It's an easy reel to learn the ropes on. Now he fishes the Curado DC lol.
Just buy a Abu Garcia Black max baitcaster reel its a 40$ reel use mono use 16lb line if you go with braid go for a 60lb braid because if you use a thin braid line such as low lb braid you can get digging to happen when you hook a fish and it pulls the drag so use 60lb braid line my first baitcaster was the Black max it has Magnetic brakes which are the BEST brake system for these reels DC uses them just watch many YT vids on it you also dont want to cast like a normal pole dont just snap it out their lightly do it first get good at it adjust brakes and tension knob also adjust the tension knob for all lures you switch if you get a backlash pull the line to the right or left not straight out I learned everything im telling you from YT and self learning Exp trust me dont get mad at the reel because once you learn how to use it YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER GO BACK to a normal reel EVER and catching a fish on a reel that you had to learn to use just feels good not to mention the drag system on these reels is just NICE you also get extremely far casting since I use 60lb braid I almost all the time spool out my reel on each cast and im launching beyond 80 yards many times depending on the lure weight and if a lure is very light weight I always use split shot weights makes casting light lures EASY so watch some YT vids and HAVE FUN bro Trust me its worth it
Nice, DC reels do come in handy with baits that are hard to cast. The Scorpion was the reel that got me into DC. I had the 2017 model. It was my first.

I’ve yet to skunked on my Antares DC. The most badass reel ever!!!
I agree, the thing is dang near perfect!
Several DC reels out there. Check out the DMK DC reel
Which Antares do you have I have the 21 DC but can’t get more than 30 ft with a 7 gm lure I thought the mgl 3 will excel in long cast

you are running either to heavy of line wrong rod or dont have it set on the correct settings.

Are they waterproof?

I was thinking of learning casting reels…what do you think of getting a dc for my first casting reel?

The new to baitcasting crowd will likely have more fun and less frustration fishing using a DC vs other like you wrote to get@@WyattChilson
I just got a SLX dc xt 150hg and love it.
Awesome!
I have a scorpion dc and i use it just for spinnerbaits
