So funny to come back to this a year later and see the comments about some of the picks. Especially the Sam La Porta pick for the lions - ripped on universally, and the guy set about every rookie TE record there is, along with being a fantastic TE overall.
You guys mentioned some teams flipping the board and getting the guy in R2 that was projected to them in R1. The Lions did that too with Jack Campbell and Deon Branch. Everyone knew Campbell was not going to make it to pick 48, they would have to trade up to make that work, just like they did with Branch. Where is my flowers for Brad Holmes? I also have a bone to pick with PFF on this whole positional value of ruining backs. Everyone applauded the Lions for trading up for Jamison Williams last year at pick 12 and yet critique trading DOWN for the same type of player at a different position. Regardless of what people think, in both drafts, both players were the top explosive play prospect in the draft. What is really ironic is that Gibbs is almost guaranteed to contribute to the Lions offense more than JaMo will. Then there is all of the love people gave the Lions for signing David Montgomery at 6 mil a year and upgrading over David Montgomery. That was considered a great free agency move by the Lions. And getting a playmaker at about 3.8 million a year, trading down to replace a player in Swift that cannot manage to see the field, gives them around 6.1 million of saved cap space to get the same player that they considered drafting at 6. And whatever happens with Swift is likely to bring some sort of draft capital back, or, if they can work things out with Swift and retain him good luck trying to stop an offense with Gibbs, Swift, JaMo, St. Brown, and LaPorta on the field... Also FYI, Gibbs was not making it to 15, the Pats were going to take him at 14 and he was RB1 on the Lions board, not Bijan. Edit: Props to Steve for mentioning this later, I commented earlier in the recording.
It's hilarious seeing the chat and all these commenters keep mentioning Adebawore and claiming every team who didn't take him is awful, yet he's still undrafted after round 3. A kicker went before him.
I think that teams do not draft two QB's because they are goal oriented in how they draft. Well, we drafted our QB at pick 4, that box is checked, QB's are now off their board, move along, these are not the droids you were looking for... I believe it is because of opportunity cost. If you draft two QB's in the same draft you are basically saying, one of these picks is guaranteed to fail and that resource is wasted, where it could have been a player that contributes more than a player that is on your roster and has no future with the team. So not only would you spend a 2nd round pick, that could have been a starter, potentially even this year, for a player that is going to get thrown away or cause you to throw away your 2st round pick? If you do that no matter what you lose. And that just goes against so many things that are core to the NFL. Just the competitor in these guys, and the way that the NFL is geared to try to win every moment, of every minute, of every day, there is no way they are going to adopt a losing philosophy. Not to mention that you are almost guaranteed to generate issues in the locker room and dead cap space. Then you have that cap angle with team building and the fact that most teams like to carry a veteran QB to mentor the young fella and show them how its done in the NFL. From so many angles, it just makes no sense for an NFL team to draft two QB's to both compete to start, in the same draft. Sam needs some sleep, closely followed by copious amounts of caffeine.
I think the lions are picking for floor. In a shaky at best draft I can forgive some positional value reaches. If this year was loaded it might be more of a problem.
Hyatt had 5 TDs versus Alabama! You’re telling me all Bama had to do was put a press cover on Hyatt? I think they might have said at halftime, here’s how we shut him down! He ate them up!!! period!!
@@waiting4butts Both of those corners/safeties are on 1 year deals and if they play well, are going to want the bag next FA. Drafting Branch means they can let both walk, Gardner-Johnson in particular, and slot him right in. As for the o line, Jackson has been a solid G, making the Pro Bowl two years ago. I don't know who the hell "eichemberg" is, I'm going to assume you mean Logan Stenberg, who got chucked in due to a bunch of injuries last year and isn't guaranteed to make the 53 this coming season.

It’s hilarious seeing the day one reactions as well. Mainly how conflicted they were on stroud vs levis lol
Hearing what Sam and Steve have to say is music to my ears
@chrism20 So is taking time out of your day to call someone you don’t know sad but you do you guy
This could've been produced a bit better but was still great. Team and upcoming pick should've been visible for most of the broadcast
41:25 questioning the pick when the coach who he went to played TE and coached TEs for 20 years all together is a stretch
Oh my God Trevor Sikkema is such an amazing host. I hope this show helps him skyrocket his career into the stratosphere ^^
Bring back Mike

The comments after 41:00 have aged well. Up the Lions.
9ers taking a 3rd round kicker and it breaks the show. lol. Monkey paw curled a finger when we asked Kyle to not draft another RB in the 3rd.
Unreal Eagles draft damn. Seahawks Bills too
give Seth a show again

that Colts Brents pick, very sus. why'd they do that? he wasn't even on my CB board at time of pick.
Broncos added Allen too
Guys how the hell am I supposed to find specific picks in this if you don't have a graphic showing what pick you're on??

Ya they seemed to prioritize players that will more likely see the field in year 1 in a playoff push year.
NY Jets - 1:15:30
Well, your guys take on the Lions draft picks didn't age well. Keep cashing those checks for being experts tho
4:21:50 hilarious!
@1:58:46 if anyone is coming here for Rashee Rice

Lions have had a great draft
lol
A team with two proballers at corner took another one instead of a lineman where they have to play eichemberg and jackson

@@Grapefruits20 i was talking about dolphins😂wrong thread
The new guy has negative charisma.
Seth? He ain't new lol. He's a bit deadpan but knows what he's talking about.
The guy in the black shirt saying the Rams didn’t need a guard is idiotic
