The Track of Hurricane Ian (2022)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 сен 2024
- Hurricane Ian was a historic hurricane during the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season which caused devastating to catastrophic impacts across Cuba, Florida, and the Carolinas in the United States. The impacts of Hurricane Ian are still being felt across those regions mentioned, with search and rescue crews still digging through the damage left behind by Ian. Our analysis team has looked over the data available for Ian, and now our preliminary analysis on Hurricane Ian is now here.

Now Ian was actually a category 5. Their original analysis for this was right on the intensity of Ian
I’m glad the in-depth intensity effects of tropical cyclones (like the C4 getting more purple as it gets closer to C5) are now being included in these tropical cyclone animations. I was always confused as to why they were always in the season animations yet not the individual storm animations.
7 months later after ian: they upgraded it to 160 mph
Absolutely splendid animation! Ian will be remebered as one of Florida's worst hurricanes in history. The storm killed over 100 people and caused devestation from Cuba up to the Carolinas. It doesnt matter if Ian was a category 5 or a category 4, it will go down as a storm that destroyed some areas of Florida leaving many areas completely devestated, hoping all in Florida a quick recovery.
This storm is definitely one for the history books
This was a sad and horrifying moment for those is florida.
And like monster Irma Ian will give Floridans PTSD
1:09 I do not know what it says C5, Ian maxed winds of 155 MPH (C4)
@@pamelawarford1672 Ian hit me as a C1-TS, Was my first hurricane after moving to Florida in 2019.
I remember when some people were saying this year was gonna be a 2013 repeat because of the inactivity and some people were letting their guards down because of the no storm August, but with Fiona and Ian it's no longer a quiet season and unfortunately now deadly and destructive, Ian definitely proved that it ONLY TAKES ONE to change everything.
I think 1988 and 2001 are the closest analogues, now let's see if we'll have any more majors for the rest of the season.
This is what I've been saying about how inactive seasons can get scary sometimes
@@hurricanzaud2090 Next year: classic list 3 season or El Nino bust?

As I have said, yes, it only takes one storm to change everything.
This age like fine wine.
This storm will be remembered for years to come. I have a family member down in Fort Myers, she said Ian was the worst storm she’s ever been through. She luckily escaped with little damage, though without power for more than a week. The beach I stayed at back in April this year is gone. Nothing is left. It was legit heartbreaking to watch. Fort Myers and Sanibel will stand strong.
Update: The NHC report for Ian is out and they have upgraded it to a 140kt Category 5 with a pressure of 937mb.
Hurricane Ian is now a C5 in NHC post-analysis, Force thirteen was on point with this storm maybe better than NHC was!
Keep in mind everyone that F13 has their own analysis of intensity usually done by Nathan. So it will differ from NHC’s official operational reports and may differ from Ian’s post-season analysis intensity too.
Yes. Sometimes, there estimates get matched by the NHC’s estimates postseason !

It bothers me that at least half the comments here are either comments about people's personal analysis or comments of how the text is purple, possibly indicating a c5 by f13 analysis (and some people are even excited about it!?)
If you saw my animation on scratch, you'll know what I have to say - the impacts of hurricane Ian are very real. Thousands of people lost everything. Some even lost loved ones. I personally know people who have had their lives impacted by this storm. Some areas of Florida will be uninhabitable for months, if not years.
Focus on the impact. Not if the storm had winds of 150, 155, or 160 mph. Because that honestly doesn't matter. At least, it doesn't matter to the people who were actually impacted. In a few months time, sure we can debate about whether Ian was a cat 4 or a cat 5, but now? NOW? To debate over whether the wind speed was 5 mph higher is inappropriate and it is insensitive to the people who were hit so hard by this storm.
That's all I have to say. I am one person, and I won't be able to fix this problem. But I ask that you stop focusing so much about the exact category of the storm, and focus more on the impacts.
I just gonna say something
Lorenzo 2019
Didnt you just went ballistic on F13 earlier for saying that Ian was a c5?

I say the same thing, there is not much difference in high end Category 4 or Category 5. Both Categories are still going to bring impacts wherever they go. It sucks that this is what hurricanes do and that not every hurricane avoids land

The remnants of Ian sat from Virginia to New York for several days afterward. I live in Virginia and it rained for at least a few hours every day for maybe 4 days after the Friday it hit. Didn’t see the sun for nearly a week

Now idalia.
Just keep in mind… it could have been a lot worse if the track had shifted slightly North into the Tampa Bay Area.
I was hit by Ian, but fortunately we didn’t have much damage compared to others. It would’ve been worse if the surge had came up further, which was only 1 feet away from our house.
Same, I'm so glad my house didn't get flooded or destroyed. TwT
I have a family member that evacuated but lived in Seminole Florida

Another question about Ian that interests me is how much lightning it managed to produce over its lifetime? I'm not sure how I can answer that. Maybe it's my selective memory but right now I cannot think of too many storms that were as convectively active as Ian was. At multiple points its eye bore witness to some exceptionally violent bursts of lightning.
While it doesn’t matter if the storm was cat 4 or 5, this will be one of the worst hurricanes in Florida and USA history.
Edit: I do agree with the f13 analysis about the winds and wind field (animation in general)

My first hurricane, it was kinda a weird feeling. Everyone in school was freaking out & everything
Definitely the right choice of peak intensification. As some may have seen my comment a few videos ago, recon found evidence for category 5 status. Category 5 status is definitely deserved for Ian.
It’s true that it could be a category 5 for a moment because it peaked wind speeds of 157mph.
Very true, and this is the analogy the NHC have recently went with. Therefore, today, they upgraded Ian to a 160mph Category 5 Hurricane.
Curious, why is it you're calling Ian a Category 5 when it was officially a Category 4? I also believe its actual wind speed was likely higher than 155mph at landfall (similar to Michael in 2018), though I haven't seen any source for this yet. Are you guys confident the intensity will be revised?
Great video as always
Micheal was also a Cat 5 for Force Thirteen.
@Milk They are using recon data, Recon had showed data sufficient for category 5 yet the NHC did not decide to declare C5. It is likely it will upgraded to c5 in TCR
There was some cat 5 support with recon before landfall, along with proof of intensification almost up to landfall... very much like Michael was. This was their personal analysis, and I do feel that there is a high potential of reclassification some time down the line... but if not... its a strong case for one.
A storm can Always be Upgraded after its Reanalysis, Even after it has disintegrated. Keep that In mind
Storms can be downgraded too, Take Iota for example, originally a cat 5 But later was Downgraded to a 4.
When it came to recon data, old SFMRs were used. It's why NHC kept 135kt, given the 137kt when adjusted was truly 131kt, which blended with the FLs got a perfect 135kt peak.
The cat 5 peak is crazy
CLARIFICATION! Ian was either a category 4 or 5, it is currently in debate. Force 13's reanalysis says 160mph at its peak while the National Hurricane Center believes Ian peaked at 155 mph.
NHC just reinstated that Ian is now 160mph, Category 5
Noru: $110 million damages
Ian: $112 *billion* damages
I live in New Jersey. Ian’s remnants hit us. 40 mph winds blasted through my hometown. We got a flood warning on October 1st. I live next to a lake and it overflowed. My tree fell apart twice. Hurricane Ivan (2004) and Hurricane ian (2022). Good luck to Florida.
The tree in the back of our mobile home felled and it hit our parents room Thank God our mom changed her mind and said that we will stay in our grandmas house because if they were sleeping in their they could of got really hurt. After the hurricane we've check our town and saw lots of homes and some stores got badly damaged 😦
Really good animation guys! This was probably the worst hurricane that hit Florida in this century.
I lived through it.
I was in Central Florida though.
This is called Hurricane Matthew was similar to Hurricane Ian and since Hurricane Matthew was a 165 mph Cat 5 even though recon only supported 155mph, Hurricane Ian should be one too.
The ‘2022 cyclone tracks’ in the beginning shouldve been replaced with ‘Historic cyclone tracks’ but nice
DID I JUST SEE THE TEXT AS PINK??!!
This doesn’t sound good- maybe force 13 analysts said it was a cat 5 from recon (this aged well)
In the middle of the eye I rode my bike in the storm surge and people were swimming in it and the water was over one foot. The reason why Ian turned into extra tropical is because it was cold when it hit.
Awesome animation force thirteen!!!! I got hit by hurricane ian. I live near Orlando but we never lost power and didn’t get much flooding too which is good! But we did had some fallen branches. Yes exactly. Ian was so strong that as it was rapidly intensifying from tropical storm to hurricane the central dense overcast was exploding in all directions especially over the eye and actually choking itself out. Hurricanes need strong clear eyes to really get the sinking going to ramp up the wind speeds. If Fiona’s outflow wasn’t there we would have sent sub 920s 175-185mph. Ian finally got the big Dorian like eye just before landfall. It literally just got an organized eye at the last moment.
