- We experience our first RV tire blowout! We’re so thankful we got RV Roadside assistance! That didn’t stop us from having a blast spending time with our friends who came to visit. We all go to Disney World together. It’s all fun and games until you have to say goodbye to your dear friends.

We had the same problem with our stock tires heading back from mammoth cave to Chicago. Thank goodness for tpms (which I strongly recommend). We limped home on the spare and immediately replaced all four with Goodyear endurance tires. Peace of mind for sure!

Seriously! I was jabbing my rv buddies who said tpms is imperative thinking nah! Then on a whim I got it prior to our 2k mile trip and of course, my tire blows out and I had no idea except for the fact that my tpms monitor was going crazy...so I pulled over. If it wasn’t for that, lord knows the damage it would’ve caused to my side skirts and underbelly. I’m a believer ;)

There's a reason they call them "china bombs." While I don't think they are as bad as they were 4-5 years ago, there is still a lot of inconsistencies in imported trailer tires from China. Something I always do when we tow is to put the back of my hand on each tire (truck too, not just the trailer) every time we stop. On sunny days, the sunny side may be noticeably warmer, and that's OK. But if a single tire is warm, replace it before continuing.
I have seen blowouts cause fires, and have heard of them wrapping around the axle so bad that the trailer had to be removed on a flatbed.
You did the best thing and replaced them all.
You are absolutely right! I felt like we were gambling the entire time we kept them on. Just so hard to replace brand new tires that aren’t worn yet. And great idea checking the tire temp...thanks for the tip!

We had a blow out last year as well on our RV. Ended up going with Goodyear endurance tires all around as well. We also picked up an Infrared thermometer that I use to check tire/bearings temp whenever we stop.
Hey Elijah! Good hearing from you man. Great idea on the infrared therm! I’m also considering putting a tire pressure monitor system on the RV tires. Don’t think you can be “too” safe when you’re dragging your house around. Ha! Hope you guys are well! Tell Kjerstin high for us!
