I am always fascinated with the Tang dynasty asththics! Their clothing is so colourful and vibrant with beautiful prints and the fabric is so light and flowing. The silhouette of the fashion is more rounded and less structured compared to the Ming Dynasty dresses (also beautiful Too), but Tang dynasty really fascinates me in their arts. And it looks especially elegant!
Jack's Mom looks gorgeous in the Chinese costume but it's not quite Hanfu because of the round standing Mandarin collar. Hanfu has wrapped around upper robe or jacket in the form of a Y shape. Also, in the Tang or Han era, they didn't use embroidered buttons... The Geishas in Japan till today retain most of the makeup features like the thick flower lipstick look of the era seen in the video, as with most other aspects of traditional Japanese culture today (as they all probably came from the mainland). The Chinese like to say that Japan's culture is the fossil of Tang dynasty. Many thanks for Jack for uploading the video. Don’t wait for three years, maybe three months? Happy New Year to British Jack, Mom and family.
During Tang 唐朝 dynasty, there was a female Emperor called Wu Zetian 武則天. During her rule, she allowed women to crossdress in male clothing, even male was allowed to dress in female clothing but no male dare to really dress in cross gender clothing except for entertainers and male prostitutes. Yes, you heard me correct,, Tang Dynasty got male prostitutes. Wu Zetian 武則天 believed both genders were equal, there was nothing that female cannot do.
In the Han Dynasty and the Zhou Dynasty before that, China did not cut their hair for about 1,000 years (about 1000 BC - 200 AD), and respected "filial piety" (thinking that the body, hair and skin come from parents, It must be cherished and respected), so the hair is generally close to 2 meters (because of insufficient nutrition, it will stop growing). But in the Tang Dynasty, the atmosphere was more open, and the hair would be trimmed, but it would still have long hair. Women generally exceeded one meter, and men also exceeded the waist. But the hair is not long enough to have a beautiful and dignified hairstyle, so there are poor people who grow their hair long and cut off parts to make wigs for sale.

In my opinion they should have used a ‘ fuller ‘ model as during the Tang period that’s the definition of beauty!
