my coach said that once, right before he made us do 7min of burpies, for the 2nd period and also said it to use after a 2 hour practice for the 1st and before giving us a talk about the 3rd
@@WurstStarburst A wrestler's prime is usually from ages 20-28. Most freestyle wrestlers retire by their late twenties. Greco tends to have more longevity than freestyle because leg attacks are not allowed so theres less mileage on the knees and back.
My GOD! Pound -for - pound, I think, both Kyle AND Jordan, are two of the BEST wrestlers in the world! I wish wrestling got more coverage in the media. This stuff is the real deal. This was my weight class (I was never in these guy's league though )!
Really high level grappling. Too bad either man has to lose. Got to find a way to get both guys on Olympic team. A match of this caliber deserves to have professional announcers.
Kyle Dake , Cael Sanderson, Pat Smith and Logan Stieber are the only four-time Division I champions. Dake is the only wrestler in NCCA history to win four national championships in four different weight classes. Dake is the first person to win four titles in four years of competition without a redshirt year. He finished his college career 137-4 and was undefeated his last two years. And Bryant Cantrell's comment below is "Dake...what a fucking meat head."
Dake was lucky he never ran into Burroughs in college! Burroughs owned the poor guy for a decade. Sake even tried going up a weight class and Cox manhandled him at 92KG
@@quincyspielberger4366 86KG - poor Dake then said in an interview he expected to beat Burroughs every time - BULLSNOT! Burroughs shattered his ankle running sprints in a strange gym due to a Covid breakout at his normal gym. He missed a wall mat trying to catch himself after 40 yards and caught the solid wall. He missed 13 weeks of training and was still in rehab when Dake finally beat the guy. Burroughs is in a league far above Dake.
US has , and have had SOOOOO many good wrestlers , in both disciplines , all thru the years. I am so grateful for youtube , so I can watch excellent wrestling , whenever I want , from all over the world. THX 4 upload and greetings from Sweden.
+Rogerio Frederico American wrestlers are the most well-rounded for sure. Unlike Iranians and Russians, they grow up doing folkstyle which lends its better to MMA and grappling because of its extensive groundgame.
Not enough people appreciate Dake's effort here. Went through the ringer of all ringers in this WTT. The toughest WTT class I've ever seen at 74KG to date 9/22/2022. NCAA champ Trent Paulson; Hodge Trophy winner DT; 20 minute OT clutch victory over NCAA champ Howe... THEN AND ONLY THEN he faces Jordan Burroughs 2x in a row all in the same day. Any point scored on Burroughs is a legendary feat in itself
Maybe he would do well at mma then. Top control and keeping guys from escaping from bottom is so big in that sport these days. I think that's why you don't see many international freestyle and greco guys doing well. Just about all of the wrestlers at the top are Americans.
One guy wrestles like an hour against some of the best guys in the world. While the other sits on his ass and rests all day? At least give Dake till tomorrow to wrestle Burroughs after wrestling like that all day.I feel like Dake would have won if he was rested.
MMA is fucking shit. This, legit wrestling, is the manliest sport you can do. It makes you tough and stubborn, but it makes you a better man. Oldest and toughest sport in the world. Wrestling forever!
Daniel P since when are MMA and wrestling rival sports? I've heard nothing but appreciation and admiration towards wrestling from MMA fighters. But I have to disagree, you actually get hit in MMA
did they change the rules again? I thought it was best 2 out of 3, all periods being only 2 minutes. now it's three 3 minute periods with the score carrying over?
Yeah, they were recently changed with the bid to get back into the Olympics. I think it will help popularity, definitely makes it more exciting in my opinion.
Dake could possibly be the second best guy in the world. Its happened before where best two wrestlers in the world are from the same country, but only one goes to worlds. Thats the sport we love!
Dake is honestly not "drained" from previous matches he is used to wrestling match after match from college. In high school it works the same way too. The people who win wrestle match after match to get first place.
Maybe you didn't see Worlds this week. Burroughs wrestled four of the best guys in the world in a two hour time frame and never got gassed. The way he wrestles is perfect for this sort of tournament because he doesn't keep matches as close as Dake does. Burroughs puts away the weaker guys early. Plus, if Burroughs happens to be down late in the match, he is the guy who can get a takedown when he really needs it. Dake just doesn't have that sort of skill on his shots.
Alright. Thanks for the clarity. Though I believe Burroughs would still come out on top. Not taking anything away from Kyle, but Burroughs is a machine.
I wrestled freestyle 17 years ago and the rules have even changed from then. That being said freestyle is almost a different sport. Way more exciting. Throws and rolls! Anytime ur opponents back is exposed to the mat you score.
Dake is a terrific wrestler Burroughs is a terrific wrestler but he's super explosive and strong there's nothing for Dake to do now but to learn from this match and be ready for his next opportunity .. that's how I do it. I learn from my mistakes fix them and get right back after it. But cudos to both wrestlers !
I think they should wait a day to do the finals. Dake wrestled against multiple ncaa champs before he wrestled Burroughs. Dake's match with Howe seemed to last forever as well. If Dake would've been rested he might've won that second match.
its 2 for jordan burroughs because he switch his hip over and blocked kyle leg away from his right leg all while gaining control of the head! he amazing!!!!!!
in collegiate style it always has. but in freestyle, without exposure, it's usually been 1 pt. I think they may have changed the scoring rules. I would like to know for sure though.
Two points are awarded for offensive takedowns, one point for counter takedowns (I hate this rule, I know it awards offensive wrestling, but it also breeds confusion). Basically meaning when Jordan shot that double it was a offensive takedown resulting in two points. Let say dake would have countered the shot and took down Jordan then it would be a one point takedown, unless of course Dake gets exposure. I like the old rules better takedowns are one point :/
thanks for the clarification John. I figured the rules changed. I just don't understand why they keep changing the rules. how do they expect to bring in casual fans excitement to our sport? i've been watching wrestling closely since the mid 90's and i'm tired of the change. they implement a clinch rule in the early 2000's, then they change the weight classes again in 2002. then they implement 2 out of 3 matches wins as well as the push rule. now they change the scoring with takedowns. it's annoying to say the least. i'm done, lol.
Yes, I have been in matches that go into ultimate over time, with tough opponents (I'm always the youngest in my division) and I've always been ready for my matches. After time to cool down and rehydrate, I've always been ready. It's the day after when you're sore.
Dake wrestled his heart out that day. If he didn't have to have wrestled two other powerhouses (David Taylor and Andrew Howell) he would have beat Jordan. Simple as that.
how do people get on here and say burroughs aint much? hes THE champ, his wins may not always be pretty but he does what he needs to, to WIN. Shouts to dake tho for puttin up a hell of a fight
i felt dake won because he showed some really good wrestling, borroughs won by carrying him off the mat.....that throw by dake at 6:00 was just some of the coolest thing ive ever seen in any sport
hi guys im a begginer at wrestling and i have a question. why does jordan maintain a higher level than dake besides attacking? doesnt it make him harder to attack or defense? is it because of his heights? if there is a specific reason or a tactic why please let me know. thanks!!
Jordan Burroughs stays higher to be more explosive and more athletic. He is known for his double leg takedowns, and being explosive in that shot. Dake knows this, so he keeps his level as low as possible so he doesnt get ran over by his double leg take down. Burroughs figured it out and would score other ways. But now- Dake is "THE" man by taking out Burroughs for the 2020 Olympic spot.

Whoa whoa whoa hold up...... Is he really gona do mix martial art? TAMPONS!

kool keith Escuse me? He's an actual wrestling champ unlike Cormier. I love Cormier but Burroughs is on another level.

Sometimes wins are ugly but a win is a win
you are right.... if he went in cold i dont think it would be as pretty... he warmed up and worked his way to the top..
He looks a little bit like Mr. T
"I pity the fool.."
nice one!! I also pity anyone that ever wrestled Borroughs.
