Though Yooka-Laylee is essentially a new Banjo-Kazooie game made by Playtonic Games (a studio made up of former staff from Banjo studio Rare), there are differences. Banjo the bear is now Yooka the chameleon and instead of Kazooie the bird we have Laylee the bat. Instead of collecting musical notes we now collect feathers called quills, and the most coveted prizes are golden pages known as pagies, rather than Banjo-Kazooie’s jiggies.
That said, the music, voices, art style and puzzles all bring N64 memories flooding back, making this a real workout for the nostalgia glands. If you’re interested, you can try it for yourself, albeit by preordering - the Toybox demo is available to those who preorder the game.
Yooka-Laylee is out on an undetermined release date in 2017 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Miguel Maestas If you check out all the gameplay on PlayStation Access' channel, you can see this demo is very, very basic in comparison to the main game that's been developed do far, so I don't believe this will be a Mighty No.9 situation

You guys sure lack some appreciation! Yooka-Laylee is gonna be an amazing game! This "Toybox" is a few months of work behind the game's current development state and the Green/Yellow boxes won't be there in the final game. (at least from what we know so far)

Hey, guys. Playtonic sent us backers an update on releases this morning!
"Today we can finally confirm that Yooka-Laylee will launch on April 11, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac and Linux."
"The Playtonic team is sad to confirm that despite our best efforts and exploring every possible avenue, we’ve encountered unforeseen technical issues that unfortunately mean it will be impossible for us to release the game on Wii U as initially planned. We can however confirm the exciting news that we are now working very closely with Nintendo to look to bring Yooka-Laylee to the upcoming Nintendo Switch."
With all the military shooters, I'm glad there's still a demand for platforming games like this.

Took some people a while to realize that the robot was supposed to be a Kinect. Considering its name is Inept you know Playtonic is poking fun at how terrible the Kinect actually was.

kazooie42 is such a badass, that he can invade single player games.
The art style and sound effects remind me of Wind Waker. Nostalgia everywhere.
It's great that even the original composer from the Banjo Kazooie games is part of this. I wonder if the instrumentation of the music changes depending on the menus and areas of the world, like in the original game.

Banjo Kazooie was novel at the time but at the end of the day, you're still just collecting feathers. I hope this title offers more beyond it's fantastic aesthetic come release.

You have until Apr. 11 to soak up the goodness that is Banjo kazooie/tooie. Highly recommend it, if this looked cool to you. Mario 64 had nothing on the banjo series imo... and I love mario 64.

This looks great! I've wondered why nobody has tried to make a proper platformer since like forever. This looks like B&K, Croc, Spyro, Mario 64 and other similar games.
Outside Xbox, I now feel like you should do a let's play of Banjo Kazooie guest starring Will Smith, and call it "Getting Jiggie with Will Smith"

I feel like it's not showing off the mechanics so much as the details of level design. But that's a technical difference that only certain types of nerds would care about.

I'd buy into the Vr thing for a being will smith experience. Standing in a small room with a mirror knowing you are one of five people worth saving in the event of a cataclysmic solar system exodus situation would really take the edge off of being human filth.

Ok... I know this is a "spiritual successor" to a game called Banjo... but seriously, "Yooka Laylee"? I look forward to meeting the main character's cast of friendly monstrosities, which I'm guessing include:
- A bright pink furry love-interest: Pia No. (Yeah, I'm not entirely sure of your character's gender there, assuming he / she / it has one.)
- A sassy streetwise "ethnic" best friend who dies 2/3rds of the way through to raise the stakes: Dubble McBass.
- An elderly wise mentor figure: Single Action Pedal Harp. (I may have been running out of ideas for that one.)
