First got heavily into this band when I was 13-was really into their early work. Not only were they total professionals, but each member was a secret hit writer. They were educated, articulate. Posterity will struggle to produce a similar group for quite some time.
I was about 12 I think. First song I heard was my melancholy blues. I was blown away by the chords and melody as well as Freddie's stunning vocal delivery. Within an hour I had listened to the entire album, news of the world, equally inpressed by each song. Totally blown away. I admired their diversity, the painstaking perfection of each song. Greatest band of all time.

I think those went for around $100 back then, though I was too young to be sure. Now we have clip-on headstock tuners with red and green visual indicators and reversible display that cost $10 (and $10 is far less than it used to be.) Or you can get an app that is pretty accurate on your phone for even less. 1979 Bri would be amazed!
