    I love photopass! I only wish that I had started getting it sooner. I think 2015 was my first time using it. I always bought all of my on-ride photos and spent a FORTUNE doing it. I'm not much of a photographer at all, so I love that you also get the professional park photos when you go online. I'm terrible at remembering to take pictures too lol. When my kids were young I did a better job, but most of the time I'm alone in the parks and just go from ride to ride to ride without stopping to take pictures. I was always the photographer, so most of the pictures I have are just the kids or have my husband in them. Not many pictures of myself. Boy do I regret that now!

    It started as just a customer service, no sales etc... but that changed quickly. Kodak was only in Magic kingdom when I started in 2004. From what I was told they were unhappy with Kodak. Also we were hired as professionals in the beginning. Quotas came and went it seemed while I was there. Seemed they didn’t know what they wanted. I was even told we would earn our cameras after so many hours. Yeah they changed that too. I didn’t get my Nikon🙄

I am going to Disney world in less then a month and I actually just added photo pass memory maker to my trip for when we go. Tye question I have is does that mean my picture will still have watermark or no watermark on it for Disney world?

    When you travel to other parks to take photos do you get comped for your stays at hotels and flights?

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  2 года назад +1

      No. Parks do not pay me anything, and it's rare that I get "comped" anything by them. I have on a couple of occasions been given extra permissions to film (such as the train video I did at SDC recently) but I've always maintained my own tickets, passes, food and hotels.
      I've had a couple of attractions in Branson offer me comp rides, and two parks on my recent PA trip offered discounts (Knoebels was very generous and gave 2 of the 4 of us free ride bands) but they've been the exception.
      I've never received anything from Disney, Universal or Six Flags in particular.
      I do tend to contact parks in advance- especially non corporate parks- to let them know I'm planning a visit and to ask about their filming policies and what I need to know. But I've rarely been offered anything that doesn't get offered to the general public. It's normally just a "I'm planning on being there, and I want to make sure you know I'm coming and that I plan on obeying your rules and guidelines."
      I know some larger producers get things comped sometimes, but I'm not that big. And even if I was I would be careful about what I accepted.
      The one sort of exception I have right now is I do have a deal offered by one of my supporters who has airline contacts that allows me to fly on standby (taking an empty seat if there is one) pretty cheaply. But it's not a comp offer.

    So. I just tried finding out how to get photo pass for a day in Disneyland. I've done 20 click throughs on photo pass info links through their site but all that returns is "you can buy genie + or get a daily photo pass. Click here for more detail...". Then you click. And it's more about genie+. For like 20 click throughs and nowhere to get just one day photo pass. Ridiculous.

    • @SirWillow

      The daily genie plus includes the photo pass. As far as I know that's the only way to get the daily photo pass of Disneyland

    This makes me laugh because I’ve had so many comments about the photographers lately - primarily how they continue to spent ridiculous amount of time doing a plethora of “special” photos that many people don’t even care about when the photo queue is 30 people deep or more annoyingly when they take close up pics or any cropping out the entire background. You’re not asking for a pic in front of castle or ball because you want a close up of just your face!

    I'm quite you took our photos at Animal Kingdom several years back. QUESTION : so I had a few odd experiences with Photopass photographers and wonder what would have been the proper response. I found out after the fact that one of our couple photos literally had a father with a child on his shoulders right between out heads (so the child's backside was between our smiling faces). Also in a family photo, one of our teens turned his back in the photo without our knowledge (like this was three generations and it looked kind of dumb AND that was the only shot the photographer took). So were photographers able to check the photos on the camera to confirm they met WDW standards (which these likely did not)? For future reference, what should the guest do when such things are discovered? I am not a complainer - we have hundreds of great photos!

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  3 года назад +1

      I'd be curious when and the Animal Kingdom photos were taken. I only worked at DAK a handful of times, so if it was me, it would have been a rare opportunity. :-)
      the Photographers are generally not able to see the photos they take. Unlike normal cameras, they are immediately moved to the PDA, and then very quickly afterwards transmitted wirelessly into the system, so there isn't a chance to look. Plus they really want the photographers to pay enough attention to get the shot the first time.
      The kid on the shoulders thing is kind of funny and sad at the same time. Sometimes it happens- people move and you just can't avoid it. If they notice it, they should take another. But you don't always notice it.
      And they should always be taking at least 3 photos anyways- a vertical shot showing the entire "icon", a horizontal one that is zoomed in a bit, and a third where they can be a bit creative. They should never be taking just one shot. Ever. I wonder if there was issues with the other shots, with the camera, or if it was just a lousy photographer. i noticed on my last couple of visits that they didn't take the 3 I mentioned- sometimes they were taking a few variations of the same shot. But I still was almost always getting 3-5 photos per photographer. I wonder what happened there, but that's not how it should have been.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  3 года назад +1

      yes, I kind of explain it after I mention it. Basically it's either reshooting photos that were lost, or taking new photos, either with or without a character, to help make up for a bad guest experience.

    Hi, very interesting video sounds like you had a lot of fun doing this job.
    I live in North Carolina. I make about $26 an hour being a full-time school photographer for the past 20+ years. Do you think that I could do better at WDW? It’s something that I thought I’ve always wanted to do.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  3 месяца назад

      I'm pretty sure their pay scale is under that. Very likely a good bit under $20 an hour (we were only paid $3 above minimum wage when I was there, if I remember right, and we were on a higher pay scale than most).
      Cost of living in the area is also very likely higher than where you live now.
