Danny, you are amazing! You teach the same way Dad did...calmly, clearly and simply. Thank you so very much for making these videos and especially this smokehouse build. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time now. My goal is to have one on the property within 2 years. Can't wait to see the finished EPIC Smokehouse!! Much love and blessings to you and mIss Wanda!!
Yes, we'll be praying for success. We have the same problem in May , it gets warm that after everything is budding ready to burst open or the fruit starts are on the trees in come the final frost. We have strung Christmas lights in the apple, pear & cherry sometimes it is just the right amount of warmth and the fruit is spared. God bless you guys, love these videos Thank you I always wondered how a smoke house is built.😍🙏👼💞
Hey Danny. Today it's in the 20s at 8:30am and I'm sitting here watching you work in a t-shirt on that smoke house. I'm sure impressed at your skill level and your ingenuity to build beautiful structures. You're a Michelangelo in the Deep South. I've been outside for 2 days trimming our fruit trees and now have 9 more to go. We have rain or snow in the forecast now so it'll be nip and tuck to see how much outside work I can muster up. I praise our Lord for you and Wanda for the way you work together. Our Lord walked in the garden with Adam & Eve and He still walks with us in ours. Keep walking brother.
I am enjoying watching you build your Smokehouse Danny. You and Wanda are living the life that I would love to be living. I remember when I was a kid living on the farm in Arkansas, how the weather would warm up and the trees would start blooming and then sometimes It would become winter again and we would loose our fruits. I know it is worse now with all the climate change and all. I am praying for you and Wanda. God Bless Y'all.
I must say that you and Wanda are my favorite You Tubers. You are genuinely down to earth and real. You show your triumphs, challenges, and struggles. I get so excited when I get a notification from your channel. Thanks for sharing your lives with us😊
Go down to the lumber yard there and get some lumber pack wrappers that they wrap the 2x4's etc. to ship them and use two or three of those to wrap your huckleberry trees up with some twine. All you need to do is keep the biting wind and direct moisture contact off of the trees/bushes and they will keep the buds alright. As soon as it begins to warm up, unwrap them.
Looking good. Will enjoy seeing it thru. The only thing I would say is, maybe some grade to the floor and a pass through or clean out drain of some sort.
This is my 5th time watching the smoker building videos. I would love it is you could do an update video on how it is holding up as well as what is anything you would change
About saving the fruit tree, you can try this trick - get a hibachi (a slow burning charcoal BBQ) and set it under the tree before you go to bed. The bbq will give out a little bit heat, just enough to ward off the freeze. This might just save the buds.
You look like your a block and brick layer Danny you did an excellent job very beautiful job! Your making it look so easy and like your a pro!.... I like that you do things right the first time and if theirs any mistakes you learn from it and do it better the next time! That's what it's all about!❤️ Absolutely BEAUTIFUL JOB 👍!
Hey Danny great job on the SmokeHouse so far. it'll Outlast some homes that are being built nowadays. I also did a video about a week ago showing my mulberry trees and how they're starting to rebloom Before Time~ prayers all around my friend God bless
Wanda you are impressive. A lot of the you tubers I watch when they hold the camera the picture is shaking or they flip themselves around very fast and it causes me to get sea sick. You are so steady!! I love both your and your husbands videos!!
@@DeepSouthHomestead I could tell the difference although Danny is better than a lot of you tubers. I learn so much form the 2 of you and many others but I can't watch the shaky ones my eyes start to cross. I think it is an age thing.
How did you determine the distance the of the smoke box from the firebox, length of metal pipe in other words.is there a formula that works best. I enjoyed your video, very informative and easy to follow instructions. Thanks, God bless.
Looking good Danny. I'm watching closely to your build as I've been wanting to build one as well (for about 4 years). I remember back when I was a kid the smoke house was an interesting place to be, prep for loading it and hanging the meat. Don't see too many this day and time, but I plan to build one. Can't wait to see the rest of the project. 4 foot square will hold a lot of meat . . .
I really enjoy this channel. Just came across it. I hope your huckleberry trees made it. One thing mother nature can't fool in southern Oklahoma is the pecan and black jack trees. They won't bloom until winter is over.
I am in Indiana. Up until this weekend we had most days 40-50’s. And some times reaching 60. Should be freezing and below right now. My trees are budding. And grass is even greening up. My garlic is coming up. I pray all will be ok this spring.
Beverly Michael wow I’m 80 miles northeast of Houston Texas, weather is off for sure but nothing near what you are talking about?I worked construction was outside everyday. It was 32 here this morning and that’s about normal
The build is coming along nicely. I look forward to the rest. :) Yea, we get those trails too like crazy, but the last I looked we have 3 geoengineering companies in ND. One is located about 2 hours NW of me the way the crow flies near Fargo. There has been some articles in an Ag paper my grandpa gets where 40 years ago or so the farmers in ND made an agreement with the companies in certain counties to try cloud seeding to get rain. The one farmer said his dad was one of the farmers that signed that contract. He says it has not done us any good and has actually made things worse when it comes to the weather. Hmmmm....... I felt the same way as he does long before that article came out. I wear my "hat" proudly. lol
Up here in Iowa we get that a lot too where things decide to bloom and bud out on warmer winter days. I also have worried about loosing stuff but so far things always manage to come back in the spring, so Iam certain you will be fine. Ive been planing a very similar smoke house. I do want to include some drainage in mine tho so it can be sprayed out when it needs it. Good luck folks.
The concretes lifetime depends on the mix and support like rebar. The concrete should tunnel should last. As long as there’s no cracks in it, it should last.
could you give the dimensions, like how long is the pipe & how far is the fire box from the smoke house foundation? What is the diameter of the pipe? thanks Carey
Good evening sir, I wanted to ask if this smoker is the best and most efficient that u built? Also, did u use a 6” or 8” pipe. Thank you, may our father in heaven, Jesus Christ, bless you and your family
If you don't want ants to get into something, put sand around the object you're trying to keeps ants out of. Ants do not like sand because it is abrasive and cuts their bodies as they walk over or try to go through it. They then did from the body damage. We have a raised bed garden made from blocks and we are putting sand around it to keep ants out.
Could you sprinkle your huckleberry with water as it starts to freeze, I've heard that the ice will protect the blooms and young fruit in a frosty situation.
Would there be a benefit to making the smoke pipe section in brick and then covering the brick with cement? I keep wondering what happens if you have to replace the metal pipe and you have to dismantle the smoke pipe section.
Danny, your pipe will work great, but I would have seen if I could got a piece of clay sewer tile. It would do the same thing but won't burn or rust out.
Why did you not just set the board on top of the anchor bolt after lining it up with the sides and just tap your hand on the board to get an indent from the anchor bolt and just drill out from that. It look like your way did not work out so well and was a bit big. Though I am sure it still worked.
Do you have a p.o. box? I would like to send you some of my Jerusalem artichoke bulbs. They are an invasive food crop. Can't go wrong with good clean food you can't get rid of

That's a cool smokehouse! It'll last for decades to come! Great job!
I used a clay chimney flu liners to connect my firebox and smokehouse so I didn't have to worry about metal pipes rusting out.
We were going to but they were way too expensive. 85 dollars each.
@@DeepSouthHomestead - yikes! They are cheaper than steel chimney pipes up in my neck of the woods. 13$ each.

I've seen them use chimney flue liner also for the smoke chamber. John Aker did one for Tim Farmer several years ago .
I found some liners but they wanted way to much money for them. 2 of them was right at 200 dollars.
This is on our bucket list.
Danny, everything is looking amazing !
Great project
Coming along nicely. Hope the weather cooperates for you.
Cant wait for you to finish the smoke house and start with that bacon oh my 🤪😇🤠
I hope to build one in 2020. Thanks

I'm going to hammer drill a hole in the side so I can wash it out probably.
Anchor bolts should be in the middle of the block course
If you did that, the bolt would completely miss the wood plate. He’s flushing the plate to the exterior face of block.
@@VisoMoraine Thanks Aubrey
@@DeepSouthHomestead what about using a 2x6 instead? To get the anchor bolt closer to the middle.

Bottom plates look pressure treated?
Could you of done cement and blocks for the whole system without the wood?
My strawberries are trying to come back. I covered them with leaves trying to save them from our cold snap.
I am in the process of building this smokehouse from your video. How long and what diameter stove pipe are you using??
Interested as how will cement block do with thermal heating and cooling?
It is a smoke house that is made to produce smoke not heat.

Rows are in a cornfield, blocks are laid in courses.
It was painful to watch him hammer that first block into plumb.
Bloomin heck, whats up with the huckleberry ?
Was that Alice's restaurant? Love what you're doing. Getting a lot of good advice. Keep it coming.
What were the dimensions of your slab? And when you measured the rebar above the first row of blocks, what was that measurement?
4 feet by 4 feet
The rebar stuck out about 12 inches above the first blocks
Thank you I will be building your smokehouse very soon. Thank you for everything
I got a Anna apple that been in blooming for about 5 wks I'm east of meridian

I thought the video was playing in slow-mo until I realised that’s just the speed at which he works. 😂😂
What are u using for the pipe
Your sky looks just like mine in California...
Why did you fill blocks with cement vs sand?
can you tarp the huckleberries and put a kerosene lamp in there to ward off the freeze?
Not hardly we have hundreds of them.
We are doing almost the same but ours us for a storm we live in tornado alley
Blooming already! Where are you located?
In southern MS.
Was it regular stove pop?
Looking Great!! Is the pipe level or is there any slope to it?
It is sloped up about 2 inches.
Deep South Homestead I figured something like that.
Good morning
I can almost taste the smoked bacon. That's gonna be good.
What diameter pipe did you use?
freezing here in north central louisiniana
Same here.
What kinda pipe u use?
