  • The Memphis Tigers hosted rival UAB on Sunday @ FedexForum in Memphis. The Tigers struggled early as UAB went on a big run to go up by a margin of 22, but that wouldn't last long as Jahvon Quinerely scores a smooth lay up and buzzer beater 3 pointer to send the Tigers to halftime down 15. The Tigers then go on a 18-2 run to start the second half to cut the UAB lead down to 2 before UAB coach Andy Kennedy has a meltdown center court over what he thought was foul which would result in a double tecnical ejection.

@7:23 it was so loud, I couldn’t remember if I was at a tigers game or game5 of the playoffs vs Minn a few years back. That “Defense chant” is a Memphis staple. You can feel that chant on your skin.

Memphis is different than other schools. Where as they have 5000 students at their home games, Memphis is older. The city and alums, fill these places in Memphis sports, along with some students as well. And we know basketball fasho. So you can literally hear the city of Memphis on that “defense”chant. They play for universities,
But here In Memphis you play for a city for real.
      UAB found out this time.

I saw this game live. Memphis went on an insane run, 45-9 I think. Memphis is one of the teams I can see going either way in regards to making the tournament. If they want to boost their resume, they really need to beat FAU on Saturday.

It's one thing to blow a 22-point lead, it's another thing to blow a 22-point lead and lose by 19. Glad to see that the Tigers are rounding into NCAA tournament form, they just need consistency.
