I don't feel like Elena is trying to 'turn' Damon into Stefan or trying to 'find' a Stefan in Damon. She just want him to change because this is what you hope for someone you care about. It's ridiculous how this show turns the meaning of 'good' into 'Stefan,' because he is far from being 'good.' Elena sees something in Damon. She has seen his vulnerable moments more than anyone else. So she knows there's good in him and she wants him to embrace it. But his change can't happen overnight. It´s going to be a constant struggle and I actually like that. It's not realistic for Damon to just be a better person and not fall back into the same patterns.

Basically any time we see women half undressed, with bite marks all over them, and they're just "fine" because they were compelled, it can be assumed that the vampires had sex with them, or raped them since the humans weren't actually able to consent. So we've seen in flashbacks, before Stefan met Lexi, he had women with him half undressed. There are more scenes, but some are spoilers.
Rebekah, Klaus and Stefan have such a great dynamic this episode. Love Katherine saving Stefan. Rebekah figuring out so quickly that Stefan is lieing is brilliant. Love Damon's scenes these episode. Bill being able to resit compulsion is a great twist and his parting line to Caroline is so harsh. Katherine is always playing her own game. Also Gloria was such a good character, kinda wish she'd been in more episodes.
The little kitchen scene between Damon and Elena, her smile when he’s helping her cook 🥺 Rebekah just judging the 21st century lol and I’m glad Bonnie is back 🥰 I hadn’t noticed her exact wording until I saw somebody comment on it in another video but one of my favorite lines is when Elena says “bc I don’t want you to be what other people think that you are”. She has seen vulnerability from Damon and the good qualities he has, not just the ‘bad guy who doesn’t care’ that everyone else has seen. She’s aware of who he is but he’s shown her his humanity. Since he isn’t just open with everyone, they just see him as a monster. She 100% doesn’t want him to be like Stefan, she even says she likes him just the way he is now in 2x22, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t going to encourage him to do the right thing. I also think that it would be a lot easier to come to terms with and admit her feelings for him to her friends and herself if everyone could see what she sees in him. The way Katherine just calmly kills Gloria 😭
Yes. I agree. He's still a kid as well. But being a kid doesn't get him off the hook for not telling Bonnie. Also we both kno what else he does after this. So it definitely cheating. All be it. It's understandable what he does. I never hated him for it or hated what he did because I gedit.

Gloria probably would've told Klaus about Elena so that he would let her keep the necklace. The only reason he needed the necklace, was to find out why he couldn't make hybrids. Gloria already figured out why he couldn't (she thought) by seeing Elena alive, so Klaus wouldn't need the necklace anymore if she told them that. Rebecca would still want the necklace probably, but Klaus has never cared about what she wants
It’s quite incredible that, as far as I know, though it’s more evident later, Klaus hasn’t compelled Stefan this whole time. (He used the usual intimidation and blackmail lol.)
I was annoyed at the fact that Caroline could beat Damon just because of rage. I get anger gives us more strength but if this was the case for vampires, Stefan would just need to get angry enough to defeat Klaus.
tbf one is a 100 year difference while the other is a 900 year difference. But yeah, this show always nerfs things/people for the plot. Never see Damon control a crow or the fog outside of season 1 and telling Stefan he can't roofie him but gets roofied by a little girl selling lemonade. Don't even get me started on what Jeremy & Elena did to Kol 😂
I personally found Damon annoying this season, mainly cause this was the season where he was forcing himself on Elena to steal her from Stefan, he basically admitted it to after he confronted Elena about caring for him. He’s the goat but was truly annoying when it came to Elena.
Yeah it really hit me on the first episode this season while watching these videos. Damon was in love with Elena since season 1, but she was 17. Season 3 episode 1 is her 18th birthday, finally an adult, and the first thing Damon does is flash her. I have always been team Damon, but the older I get the more grossed out I am by him lol

He raped Caroline and he groomed Elena and didn’t care about her boundaries. Stefan was also a creep and he was as selfish as Damon. Elena is the biggest c-word. She is annoying Mary sue. She played with the brothers like Kat did. She was a bad friend to Caroline and Bonnie. She always played the victim and was a hypocrite. Klaus is an idiot, too. Can’t believe he got his own show. Rebekka is a 1000 years old vampire but acts like pathetic teen who stuck in high school. Seriously, I watched season 1-4 and then I couldn’t stand it anymore. I watched season 5 but I hated every character except Bonnie and Caroline. So I stopped watching after season 5. I have never seen season 6-8 and I don’t want to. I never hated fictional characters more than Stefan, Elena and Damon.

Honestly I liked Anna she was pretty kind and a good person, I like her with Jeremy better than Him and Bonnie because those two just are all over the place. I still don’t condone Jeremy acting that way, I’d rather he tell Bonnie and they figure it all out between themselves. But I actually think him and Anna were truly in love in a weird sense
I don’t think Elena is trying to turn Damon into Stefan, but Damon would see her behavior that way (and be sensitive to that). It’s easy to feel like sometimes Elena pushes him too hard and/or too often to decide all his actions with the ‘good in him’. Her feelings for Damon conflicting with everyone’s moral judgements of him are a big factor in that probably (but also Elena’s just kinda like that too lol) It’s not fun for the audience seeing everyone take jabs at Damon, but i think it mostly makes sense. He is pretty unruly. Usually attempts at control have made him lash out more. He has to make his own decision about whether he wants to behave differently, corralling him into it isn’t gonna work with Damon
Caroline still continues to see Damon as bad guy because, unlike Elena who has seen some of the best of Damon, Caroline has a terrible history with Damon. Her introduction to him was as the vampire who used her for blood & abused her. Even though she’s a vampire now & is more familiar with him, it makes sense that she’ll retain a critical view of Damon and is thinking about the bad things he could do/the worst parts of him. on their fight: Damon maybe underestimated her fighting skill a bit, but it’s hard to believe he was trying very hard if she beat him. It’s slightly unbelievable because yeah Damon should’ve won that fight
The thing is that, while I can understand that "It's not fun for the audience seeing everyone take jabs at Damon", like you said, it makes sense... I don't get the idea or the concept, that some viewers have and to a certain degree the guys had in their discussion, that everybody HAS to walk on eggshells around Damon and tip toe around his actions and personality in order to not set him off... That characters in the show shouldn't criticize his actions or his personality and should basically keep him spoiled in order for him to be happy enough not to snap (even tho he probably would do it anyways)... I just don't get that concept, other characters, like you mentioned with Caroline, are going to have strong opinions about Damon based on his actions and behavior and they are right to do so, they aren't just going to roll over and take Damon's abuse and 'forgive and forget' JUST to keep Damon's ego and feelings satiated enough for him not to go off, that's just not realistic or preferable. The only way that Damon is going to change is thru push back from others, specially his 'loved ones', not change into Stefan because I agree that no one, Elena specially, wants him to be 'just like Stefan', they just want Damon to move away from the more problematic aspects of his personality; But whatever changes Damon has gone thru so far and whatever changes will come, will come from people pushing back at those problematic actions and behavior... It would be unrealistic and dumb for everybody to just "Keep their mouth shut around Damon and don't antagonize him", as if he hasn't ever done shit or continues to do so; even the people closest around his at the moment, Elena and Alaric, CAN NOT be blind to who Damon still is and his short comings, they need to push... Quite simply keeping quiet around Damon and patting his ego in order to keep him happy and spoiled it's going to make him change either, it's just going to make Damon believe that the way he is now it's OK or 'good', given the fact that Damon doesn't have a moral compass or moral standards of his own, his moral compass is external: being either Elena or Stefan, he judges whether or not something he does or thinks about doing is wrong not by his own moral standards, but by what Elena/Stefan tell him or by their reaction to something he does.

The Damon and Caroline fight was very entertaining. I loved seeing Caroline like that. Also, her dad just came and went . What was the point? And ughh I just love Alaric wanting to be on the council for the Gilbert family 😊

Stefan hasn’t done as many cruel things as Damon tho such as abuse rape like it was truly reviled then just murdering

He never forced himself. He was just letting her feel what she was feeling. It's later revealed she had fell for him in episode 1 of this season
