  • In this video, Sam takes a quick look at the Jackson JS1-X Dinky Minion, a fantastic 2/3 scale electric guitar perfect for 'lil shredders!

    Shop Jackson JS Series: www.pmtonline....
    Designed primarily with kids in mind, but also a great option as an inexpensive travel guitar, the JS1X takes the classic Jackson Dinky design and condenses it down into a 2/3 scale electric guitar.
    It may be fairly inexpensive, but it's still made to Jackson high standards...very comfortable to play (with a slim neck ideal for smaller hands), sounding great and holding it's tune very well for a super-short (22.5") scale guitar. The body is made from Poplar, the bolt-on neck is Spruce with Graphite reinforcement rods and the Rosewood fingerboard features 24 jumbo frets and classic Jackson "Sharkfin" inlays.
    All of the hardware is finished in a cool looking jet black, die-cast tuners and a fixed, string-thru body bridge. Rock and Metal tones come courtesy of a pair of high gain hum bucking pickups with run through volume and tone controls and a 3-way selector switch.
    The Minion series are available in a variety of cool finishes, so take a quick look with PMTVUK and check one out at your local Professional Music Technology...

    I like these smaller 3/4 guitars as I was born with a disability and use a wheelchair and have a relatively short torso, full size guitars are just too big for me.

    I like these for sitting around watching TV and practicing. It's hard to sit in my easy chair with a full size guitar. These little things are easy to grab and use to practice when there isn't allot of room. I use my granddaughters all the time.. Lol

      Ibanez Mikro GRGM21L, is very similar to this Jackson and is a left handed model, if you can find one!
      Or you could do what Hendrix did, get a right handed guitar and string it upside down, certainly didn't do him any harm. A double cut shape like this Jackson would be a good choice for that.

    I have big hands, BUT I am old af and THIS 3/4 is a bliss for my arthritic fingers and makes playing a literal child's play (pun intended)!

      Just to update, took delivery of the orange Minion Dinky a couple of days ago, all good so far. Daughter is very happy. The one she tried at the shop was rather heavy for the size of it but hers isn't too bad. The Ibanez Mikro is similar in weight and shape, the Squier Mini Strat was by far the lightest although due to the shape of it, it kept slipping off her lap. For anyone else looking for a decent children's guitar, there is also the Epiphone Express 3/4 size 22" scale length Les Paul out there as well which might be worth a look. My daughter is 6 but very tall for her age and this size of guitar is manageable for her now, even if some of the frets are still a bit of a stretch! I can easily see her Jackson lasting her several years until she is big enough for a full size guitar so well worth the money.

      It’s been a year, so I’m hopeful your son is playing and found his perfect guitar.
      As for the one you mentioned, I believe it’s also a Jackson, specifically, the Jackson DXMGT in Sunburst.
      Seems they can be had used at around $200-300.

    i have the neon Jackson V guitar and it doesn't sound that good at all especially the high E string(6) it tends to flap against the fret board any suggestions or am i doing something wrong with the tuning?

    • @spinther
      @spinther 5 лет назад

      Obviously I have no idea if you are new to guitar but have you raised the bridge saddle on the high E?

    • @lucaslopez1375
      @lucaslopez1375 5 лет назад

      @@spinther By ''Raise'' does it need to go forward toward the neck or back? and what strings and weight do you use?

    • @spinther
      @spinther 5 лет назад +3

      @@lucaslopez1375 There are 2 things you should know the difference of, action and intonation. Action = the height of the strings from the frets. This requires using an allen wrench on the pegs on TOP of the bridge saddles. Intonation = the length of the string from the nut to the bridge. This is usually done using a screwdriver to turn the screws on the back of the bridge which is the forward or back motion of the bridge saddles. What you are talking about is action so you need to raise the strings UPWARDS, NOT forward or backwards. Watch this for more info. ruclips.net/video/XSRqdmXBSAQ/видео.html
