They knocked it out of the park with the styling. And the engine. There are certain things I could nitpick like the tail unit and the "flat fishtail" exhausts but this is all done to make it sellable in all markets. It is a thing of total beauty. Well done BMW!!
I'm not a cruiser guy, but this bike took my atention!
Mine too, I'm look for the classic cruiser type forward controls and the highway pegs !!!! Ha ha ha, I'm sure it's still a good thing.
Yeah took my attention, luckily I was near a bucket!!
This bike is an epic fail no place to stretch out for a cruiser👎
This is the only cruiser I'd put my money on.
And you're 100% correct about the design, this will look just as pretty in 30 40 years.
Do you remember BMWs last cruiser they made....no, they were shite! , you would loose a packet if you bought this, just as everybody did in the 90s that bought the R chrome elephant, they even tried making it a tourer, couldn't sell it. Don't beleive the hype, wait a while and see how they go wrong, then thank me.
@@anthonyprice5596 I don't judge products based on the hype :)
I look for things I find appealing or useful. I find the R18 very appealing, plus the boxer seems so different from the usual crop of twins.
@@karthik.g63 theres is a reason why most cruisers are v twin, because it fits, so you can put your legs and feet in a comfortable position. Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki all have made and sold 1000s of Harley clones, and some of them have been better, but being different doesn't always work. Just because BMW have managed to sell loads of GSs they think a boxer engine fits the cruiser market? No. This bike will bomb its DODO 2 look at the 1200c the chrome cruiser, it didnt sell well, why, because the engine stuck out the side, I have to say, it's a better bike than this one, but if I was spending that money on a bike, I'd not want to be sitting like a jockey with my seating position cramped up. Harley are probably laughing at this, because all those early adopters after wasting their money on this pile will see the light and come running.
The cruiser I'm waiting for is the Vtwin from Royal Enfield, because it will be comfortable and competitively priced.
This will be a blip on the radar, mark my words.
@@anthonyprice5596 Consider your words marked :)
And personally I prefer the mid mounted pegs as I find them way more comfortable over longer distances, they're also more fun to ride. Plus the boxer with so much low end torque fits the character of a cruiser better than a V-twin, runs cooler too.
@@karthik.g63 I'd love to think you were right, last year I bought a 1250rt it went back 5 times for warantee in a year, eventually it failed, dangerously, after speaking to BMW customer services I was given a total refund, if I bought another BMW so I paid the extra for the K1600, I got half way across France when the gearbox locked up, I pressed the optional extra emergency assist button.....guess what it did work!! After about an hour ON MY MOBILE I was picked up by BMW assit, they took me to a dealer, and just drove off!! I Waited for the dealer to open, as it was 5am and they took the bike in, said they'd need it for two weeks, so I provided with a vauxhall corsa to get me back to home, getting on the ferry took 3 hours because it was a French hire car!!
So I was without a bike, for a month, when It eventually turned up( damaged repaired, with panniers missing!),I spoke to BMW customer services, they generously refunded me for my £350 for the emergency assist, an £5 for phone calls, but had no knowledge of the panniers? , this went on for over a month, I had a touring bike, damaged with missing panniers. I eventually after speaking to a legal representative I sent them a letter, 2 days later I received a phone call from BMW they agreed to totally refund me, only one proviso, I didnt go to MCN with my story. However they didnt mention youtube.
I bought something else, but I will never entertain another product from BMW car, bike or otherwise, they don't even make there own scooters, they are regarded SYM scooters.
So you waste your money. Don't say I didnt warn you.
Bravo Christian...bravo again from a Greek friend in the States. Some people think they start something and its grown already... but your real lonely ride to the four ends of the world the cold days on the saddle and your sweat finally paid of... Bravo again keep it up...
I love how you managed to grow this channel with true passion and a lot of hard work.... stay safe!
Looks like a oil painting to me, what a master piece... awaiting for the full ride review 👍🏽.
Beautiful bike. I like that they're going retro, but I wish they'd do a smaller version that was even more like the old 50's and 60's R series BMWs. Those vintage BMW's are some of the best-looking bikes ever made. If they could make one that looked like a 1960 R60 but with modern brakes and engine upgrades, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. That R18 is too much motorcycle for me
I agree with you 100%, but if they want to compete with Harley and that so called Indian they had to go big.
If the bike sells good perhaps they may put a smaller engine in that beautiful frame.
Even if the do you don’t buy it because you don’t have money dave7777
@@motorhead1933 I like how you pretend to know how much money a complete stranger has in his bank account. : )
A classic 750 cc but lightweight and with only essential electronics.
I hope this bike to succeed. It’s soooo cool.
Great vídeo.
BMW has made the exact cruiser I want to buy at the first sight.
I love your reviews. For a non-native English speaker you do a fantastic job, and your enthusiasm shines through every time brother! Greetings from the UK. (Now how about a comparison of of the Tiger 900 and Africa Twin...?)
Simply the best video on the R18. Till now
1st review of R18 on youtube.Good job!
Yesssss BMW!!!!! This looks the dogs bollocks, really clean with no clutter and classic lines!
Never owned a BMW,I'm a Harley guy! But this thing may pull some business away from HD.
One thing I will say is this would make a fantastic Sunday or weekend bar hopper but with no visible way to fit forward control's and the small tank i wouldn't want to cross countries on it. All the same hats off to BMW id be proud to own this bike it looks stunning 👌
Great video. Love the passion, and the steady no nonsense camera work and lack of music.
Good Job. And a gorgeous bike too.
Incredible job they’ve done on this one love the look of it !!! And euro 5 compliant! Well done Bmw now I want one parked next to my 1250gsa !
Us short ass riders will love it .great review as always.
Great review, I can tell you absolutely love it! 👍🏻 😍 I would normally never look at a cruiser but this bike is something special! Looking forward to your test drive as much as you are! 😁
Great review. Love your enthusiasm, and good humour too with the helmets and your very long ride, Haha. Cheers!
R.I.P! This is the last video I saw of you before I heard the news that you're no more. You were a very sincere reviewer 🤍
I am completely with you in your great enthusiasm - that is a without a doubt a Collector's Dream! Much thanks for being the first (and Best) to share this amazing release with us! I also like the reverence with which you touch this ride while talking about it! Much thanks for all you do!
I agree this view also. I doubt BMW expects this to be a runaway hit. I am not sure they deep down believe it will be on the roads in droves, its a collectible, once its all sold up, they end manufacturing and it becomes an iconic release waiting for another 40yrs for a rerelease
It's been worth the wait - is that a 240 mm rear tyre. Torque reaction is great when you're taking off on a slope.
As always, nice video man! I can feel your passion when you're talking about motorbikes!
Bye-bye GS, welcome R18 !!!!😁😉😉
Mega thanks for this video !!!
Love this bike, great video! Something to look forward too!
It's a really beautiful machine...
-Fine compositions, beautifully shot in this presentation. It gave excellent looks at the machinery. Excellent job on that front! You have the enthusiasm of a boy which was very nice in this instance. I agree with like comments expressed that this is a design that will hold up well over the years.
Not my cup of tea. But the design is fantastic. Props to BMW for being different. That open shaft. First I did not like the exhaust, the look from the side seemed overdesigned. But now seeing it from te rear it is very special.
Thanks for the great review, had many bikes over the years and sold my last Harley a few years ago, this makes me want a bike again.
Beautiful piece of work
Thing of Beauty! So Beautiful! I have to test drive this baby soon.... after Covid-19 Lockdown! Nice video mate!
its fricking amazing...
Enjoyed the lovely walk around.. Thank u..
I think it looks fantastic (real badass)
Good reveal. Better than the official hipster one. Was expecting you to take off on it tho.
A beautiful and magnificent piece of machinery and a total joy to ride
It looks great!
Great review, thanks. I look forward to the road review.
Love this bike and love this channel! Greetings from Italy, Romanian friends!
Beautiful motorcycle🖤😱🏍💨🔥
Who needs crash bars when you have cylinders like this!
Id put hiway pegs on it
😂 🤭 😂 🤫🤫🤫
But you do need leg protection. Banging your leg into one of those cans is not a pleasant experience.
Knut Meyn, I am in total agreement with you after breaking my left leg in a low speed accident on a Moto Guzzi V7. Those cylinders sticking out the sides can be like sledgehammers to parts of the rider’s body, especially the legs. On the BMW boxers it has been only recently that the models changed and the cylinders have been raised higher on the crankcase. Wether this is safer or not as safe I’m not sure, but I can tell you that I sold that V7 and would not own another. I did have a 1995 BMW R100R and on that model the cylinders are low down on the crankcase and I had no problems with it and felt completely safe riding it.
@@KMeyn But they offer warmth in winter & not too hot in summer!
Great bike....I love it
I just bought one and i can tell u I love it! BMW nailed it!! It also look much better in person!
I have a R27 bmw 1960 model for last 30 years. Still love it. This is the same kind of classic bike. Will never get old.
Nice bike, nice haircut!
Oh Geez, that's so pretty, and that sound. I'd keep that vintage look exhaust too!
Good review. Thanks for sharing and expressing your opinion, love the passion. Coolest cruiser around as well!
The leg warmers are very handy too!
Amazing this BIG boxer!!😍
Sounds electric. Can't wait to see the aftermarket in action.
An instant "Classic"!
OMG that’s a nice bike 🏍
The engine Looks like a jet engine from the front,,, Nice
This is a great first video where the fawning matches our enthusiasm for this bike. I think their decision to position the bike as a fully customizable kit is in itself very modern and exciting for custom shops everywhere. The stock itself is just a platform, where the market can participate in the creative expression that's unique for each owner. It's a brilliant strategy.
Bike looks great. - good review thanks 👍
Haha.... Danke, du hast mich mit deiner Vorstellung mitgenommen. Du bist mit Herz dabei. Tolles Motorrad!!!
Amazing quality bike i love it !
Very Well Made Video
Really Loved It
Thumbs up for you, because you are funny and very entertaining to watch! Looking forward to checking out the new R18 when it arrives stateside.
Dude, dude...score!
I glad to see happy persons like you)
Instant classic. 😎👌
It’s a fantastic bike and presentation very well
Very nice bit of kit !
With the angle of the inside of your knee being less than 90°, there will be pressure on your ligaments if you go on longer rides.
My knees hurt just looking at it.
Very good presentation 👍👍👍
That is one beautiful bike!
my love !
Good and entertaining video. Shame could not ride it yet. That would kill me! Keen to learn about its handling.
Amazing
Que cosa impresionante!!! Moto pefecta
What a beast!
DAMN! thats one nice looking bike.
Beautiful. 😍
Best bike in a loooong time.
Looks really high quality
Man i had an R--50 from 1957 wich i restored for more than 10 years, when you talked about what you feel in the bike. well i feel the same in mine from 1957! =) CHEERS ENJOY!
Looks cool in my opinion.
Beautiful bike
that is COOL!!
I love this guy's accent...he's a trip and made me laugh so hard with his passion for this bike.
That engine is amazing
That last segment with the bike running should be called "Shake, Rattle & Roll" ;). Looks lovely, I'm sure the ride will be too, looking forward to that review.
The house looks interesting, can you give us a tour?
Love the exhaust in the R5 style. It is not an HD.
I like it!
That exhaust man. Holy hell
This is an amazing looking machine, i cant wait to go to the launch. Sir this video is so well presented and i love watching your videos....fantastic accent...kind regards.
I own an Indian Chieftain and a ZX-6R. I may need to buy a third bike now. I'd love to hear that exhaust without the stock slip-ons.
Beautiful bike. I likey. An optional pair of smaller round LED driving lamps on either side and slightly below the head lamp similar to the HD Road King. It gives more lighting for the rider and awareness to drivers. Love the solo saddle. Bike will be nostalgic for years to come.
GOOD performance
Good job 👌
Great vid. I just can't get over those protruding heads
That’s a great looking bike.
Other than ether exhaust that is exquisite in my eyes. Only the price keeps me away but if I could I most certainly would. Absolutely stunning to me. I love the riding position with my back it’s perfect. 😍
I was unsure at first when I seen it the other day .... but its growing on me more and more , especially the bobber version 👌🏻
I'm also not a cruiser guy but I am a sucker for the boxer engine. And I see it has that left shove inherent in all boxer engines. Love it.
Love it.......
Love the unique exhaust that is original and the seating position is typical of boxers and transversely mounted twins like Moto Guzzi, like sitting in a chair with proper posture, very much like a Goldwing, just stand up or take a break if your knees bother you. I’m guessing butt will hurt long before knees.
My dream........congratulations from Rio de Janeiro Brasil
Awesome video! But you looked pretty funny with the helmet on.. hahahahaha! Looking forward to your full review!
Lovely.....
