A little pointer with curling especially shorter hair. Buy a thinner wand. Don’t section it still. Do a bit smaller pieces and quite tight. ( leave some at the ends). If your hair falls make them quite tight and then let cool and brush them. :)

Have you ever taken apart your dishwasher and cleaned out where the sprayer is? It's disgusting - so many food particles. I use those tabs every month in addition to taking out the baskets/sprayers, etc. and washing them down with soap and water.
