What a beautiful keyboard! That price is a little steep, though quality, niche products tend to go that way. I'm working on building my own keyboard right now with a similar typewriter style, though it'll be wired to keep costs down. Thanks for the review!
@@cslattfri No. It's a really cool device. But it's expensive and it has no backlighting. You may love it for writing and prefer something with backlighting for general use. Still, I'm happy I bought it.
Hey I just want to throw this out there, the different of having a clicky versus a linear for gaming is so tiny and minute that unless you're betting a lot of money and playing at professional levels, I would say that it's actually just preference. However, this keyboard specifically does not lend itself to being a gaming keyboard due to a multitude of factors, such as the shape of the keycaps, body size, the bar. This keyboard while not made for gaming could be used for that case although it wouldn't be much better than a $30 membrane based on the feature set. It all really comes down to the use case as well. This keyboard, like Mark says, is a novelty item and that is where the bulk of the cost comes from. There are other keyboards that come in this form factor for much cheaper, however this one does seem to have the best build quality from what I have seen. If you're not absolutely dead set on the qualities of this keyboard and the cost, I would recommend a host of other mechanical keyboards. If you are in the apple ecosystem, I would recommend the k1 v4(the latest version). It is mechanical, hot swappable, has three bluetooth profiles because it is also wireless, full button assignments, full rgb lighting, and comes standard with apple key layouts. That keyboard also is good for gaming as well, I would recommend that you plug it in to be used though to avoid any lag. If you have a windows system, then literally anything in the mechanical keyboard market. There are so many good keyboards out there and I feel like it's a bit misdirecting if someone recommends $290 keyboard that comes with standard cherry blues. The original asking price of this product is $400. For that you can just get a custom made keyboard with everything you want.
I love your in-depth review of this product, Mark. I have been eyeing this beauty for a while on Amazon, definitely a part of that niche community. The build quality makes the price sufficient. Absolutely purchasing the QwerkyWriter S keyboard for my iPad Air 4.
This should be around $150 if you compare it to others of similar quality. It’s bizarre they can charge so much because customers don’t know about the competition.
Do the letters wear off easily? I am thinking of purchasing one but will not if the letters come off easily. Thanks for sharing your review.... I always appreciate people that are willing to take the time to give a detailed opinion on something I'm interested in buying.
Just blooming brilliant. I been looking for something like this as a journalistic writer with nostalgia. It's an eye catcher on a plane or train. Now, what about a lot of then recent alternative brands
I figured it's good to break away from the norm and review something different every now and again to keep people interested. Glad you liked the video!
Hey Mark! Thanks so much for the beautifully done video! How has this keyboard been for the last year? Is it holding up well? Also, yes thanks so much for the battery mention. That's a major selling point! Thanks so much!
*gasp* !!! I remember using a manual typewriter, and the company I worked for - without consulting us for our input since we would actually be the ones using the machine - went out and got an “electronic” typewriter. That’s what they called it. It was completely FLAT. The exact opposite of this beauty. WHAT A BAAAAAD IDEA. Such a failure. No one could use it.
The First Keyboard you showed (aqua marine) is similar to Typewriters that were used in Colleges especially in the 1950's. In later years, Typewriters like that were used to write Chick Lit Novels.
I’m typing my response on a very similar keyboard - mine is by 7-Keys, but it looks very similar, and the rounded keys are the same. It also has cool colored lights with different effects, which is awesome. Mine has blue switches, so it’s super clicky. I’ve heard of yours, so maybe I’ll need to try it out.
For me, the best mechanical keyboard would be one with the real deep mechanism with small hammers that were part of the old mechanical typewriters. The Qwerywriter texture and sound remind me rather something like the Commodore 64.
2:25 Cherry MX blue is NOT linear and linear switches don't necessarily mean less force Cherry MX BLACK (60g) is a linear switch and has a higher actuation force than MX blues (50g)
Hey mark, I just got one of these! But I can’t seem to get that side switch to exit the tab like you did in this video, If you could share with me how you did that I would greatly appreciate it! :)
I so miss typing like the 70's. Would love this if I could use it on my small ASUS Vivobook Ultra Thin Laptop? Just to send letters for fun on my emails
My Laptop battery bulged...and it was a pain to replace because it wasn't designed to be user serviceable. I like it when companies design products that are user friendly.
I love old typewriters and this keyboard is great. The price is premium, but for better than average build quality it's worth it to me. Oh and I totally disagree with your assertion that Cherry MX Blues aren't good for gaming. I've killed keyboards by typing them to death in gaming, so Cherry MX Blues are all I use now and I'm very happy with them.
Dude that's what I was thinking ever since I seen that episode where Timmy Turner's dad builds a computer and the keyboards the typewriter I always wanted that😅😂❤❤
Thanks for a great video review When you say a fix for the scroll not available on iOS maybe coming soon Is that on a new model or would require a software update Thanks
My goodness this is a beauty. I want this so badly. That sound is amazing.

I’ve had one of these for 4 years. It’s so much fun to create on. That typing rhythmic sound can’t be beat.
is it still going strong?can you comment on the built quality and typing action?
Have the letters worn off yet? I'm thinking of buying one but at this price I won't bother if the letters wear off easily.

This looks dope!!! Such a cool combo of mechanical keyboard and typewriter!
Commenting for the algorithm.
And so should you, reader.

Okay :>

Thanks for this!
Excellent audio, perfect, ty!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Upon my life, I WANT THIS!
Thanks for highlighting it, Mark. Kudos!
Please make a lava lamp review
I’m in love with this !
Thank you! You helped me make the decision! New sub!

Great review! Very thorough. Liked that you mentioned the battery replacement process

I must be really early🤔, even the lava lamp guy isn't here yet😏
Looks amazing.
Doesn't it?! 😃
@@MarkSpurrell absolut beauty, i really want that.
These videos about interesting tech products are great!
Great product, but beautiful video. You answered the questions I had as I thought them. Thank you for your insight.
Well worth it. I have the mint version. $289 is nothing when you count how many BT keyboards you can go through in no time.

3:50 Guys it’s Korone from Hololive!!!!!!
Old typewriters had delete keys? In red?
What dimension are you from?
Can it fit 12.9 inch iPad?
Thank you for the detailed info!

I came here from looking at $1,000 steampunk keyboards.
How cool would it be if someone could make an actual typewriter like that. I would buy one.
For me, the best mechanical keyboard would be one with the real deep mechanism with small hammers that were part of the old mechanical typewriters. The Qwerywriter texture and sound remind me rather something like the Commodore 64.
I love it. I want it. But I want it to hold paper too.
This is cool but there is another option is fine day which looks a bit the same it be nice to see a comparison video
Great review - Thanks :)
I want a keyboard that feels like a typewriter. At this point, I'm considering making my typewriter into a keyboard myself
I've looked into this - it is very difficult. But not impossible!
I have it and love it too!
Good review too.
Does it have the typical bell sound? Looks so good tho.
Pretty cool! Thanks for the video.
Could you do a review on the Fineday typewriter keyboard?
Nothing like a typewriter
My husband bought this for me for Christmas and I was WTF. Looking at the reviews it may not be the bomb I thought it was
There was no delete button in the old ones for obvious reasons
Not my kind of keyboard but it's really nice looking. Definitely catches the eye.
2:25 Cherry MX blue is NOT linear and linear switches don't necessarily mean less force
Cherry MX BLACK (60g) is a linear switch and has a higher actuation force than MX blues (50g)
An eyecatcher for sure ! Loved it :)
Please pardon me if my question is inappropriate, but is this keyboard still working properly after one year's service? I hope it does have long life.
Stunning. The ultimate clackity clack
Soo expensive but I am definitely saving up for the white one with gold accents which costs 330$
Outstanding presentation! Will this work well with the Mac Pro lap top?
3:49 Ahhhhh I see what you did there, pretty much every teenagers when their parents are about to walk in on them very good and useful feature indeed.
Practical, i love it .
I need this in my life.
Can you still use it to play games tho
MX blues, I don't get it. It's basically training wheels for typing.
*putting the link in my back pocket in case I'm too lazy to make my own*
Is there a backlight on there?
Can you tell me if when you hit the enter key - can you set it to make a "ding" sound?
It would have been perfect if they added 3-device Bluetooth switch. Also, Mark do you still use it or gave up using it?
Do you think I could use my iPad Pro 12.9 with this keyboard
Mouse recommendations with this?
Can the keyboard be used with 12.9” iPad Pro?
I was so ready to buy it and clicked on the link….saw the price and im dead….
I wish they'd make one with the rows with more height between them like an old manual KB.
Don't know if company's would get away with causing mega rsi on everyone
@@Hazed64 They already do with those damned back legs.
Can you change the switch? I wanna switch them to browns instead of blues.
Have you ever looked at the iQunix F96? Not vintage but looks fantastic
I haven't, but yeah that does look pretty incredible. I prefer tenkeyless though.
@@MarkSpurrell That's fair - I don't know enough about mechanical keyboards, but there are a few different models on their site.
That is a beauty

I want this in Olive Drab green to go with my WWII theme computer build I'm thinking about building.
Silly question but would this work with Raspberry Pi?

As a touch typist, I would be concerned with a keyboard like this messing with my muscle memory. However, still a cool keyboard, and a nifty idea.
I use a typewriter, and this is the best
My favourite man is back hahaha
I saw a Jerry Jenkins video and noticed the keyboard he uses and that's why Im here. ;)
Never understood why people wobble the keys side to side.
Very cool I will wait for price to drop to $35
Awesome 😍👍🏼
Me, as a brazilian: wow, I want one
Me, still a brazilian, after checking the price: wow, no
I loved your video
It is pretty sleek.
I hate the clicking noise even from my mouse, I bought a silent one lol imagine with that omg. But it looks awesome tho
it should have had box navy switches
Imagine gaming with this keyboard
