Incredible Tutorial. Just finished it with my own custom character/Parts I made in blender to test this out. Extremely satisfied.
The two places I had trouble was, 1) Needing to add an Event Possessed node to the Cast to player controller node in the BPthirdpersoncharacter event graph to get the character to move around. and 2) No Image option in the Create change Button Widget, which means my buttons are just blank white boxes instead of preview images of what I'm selecting.
Amazing tutorial! Quick tip for anyone who's 'possess' blueprints aren't working: In your character blueprint, right click and add an event called 'Event Possessed'. Connect it to your input mapping nodes, that Event Begin Play is connected to. I hope this helps someone!

@@savitorspeed5790 Ahaha this was actually for my final year project XD We made a metaverse with my teammates with VR features as well. Sadly that we don’t have much time to integrate all features but I did make a part for customizing character and morphing faces.

I love this tutorial!!! I am trying to adapt it to make a character creator that swaps textures instead of meshes, and also adding a color picker wheel to change the color of each texture, but i am very stuck at Enums, DataTables, and Structures.
Would you do a tutorial on how to make a character creator that applies selected textures to a dynamic material's parameters, that can be recolored?

However, I've encountered a problem with UE5.3.2 where importing Punk consistently causes a freeze, and images are missing(404).
So should all of my character meshes be separate pieces or just one object split into parts?
What about exporting? One fbx or individual fbx for all body parts?
Please add blender tutorial for how to make bones for this system (design part)
I know this out of question, but dose it apply to more details and complex character face/body?
Does this merge mesh into 1 skeleton our is it rendering all of the individual parts?
Do you have extra Plugins to be able to do this, im new so i might not have them activiated. All i know is that my texture 2d isnt working at all and the set skeletal mesh blueprint doesnt give me the option to reinit Pose.

Thank you for this tutorial. I followed closely but can't get the head image button to show up at 38:11. Any ideas for things to check? Edit: I used "Print String" to debug and found there were nodes not connected between the "Get" and "Set" boxes.
check 37.50 make sure you are creating the widget and adding to the head scroll box

Great tutorial! I ran into only one issue where the create change button widget doesn't have the image section popping up so there's just blank white boxes that i can't add the proper images too. Other than that absolutely everything else is flawless!

It's pretty easy fix. In BP_ThirdPersonCharacter, the code provided by UE, there is commented section Add Input Mapping. Just select everything after Event BeginPlay -> right click on it and select Collapse to Function (name it whatever, I called it "ActivateInputMapping"). And then in the CharacterCreatorUI widget that Uisco created, in the part where he is removing the start game button from parent, and possesing BP_ThirdPersonCharacter, after his code, after the Set Input Mode Game Only, and from the BP_ThirdPersonCharacter ref access the ActivateInputMapping function.

i tried doing this, stuck at the camera part tho i can zoom in and out but i cant rotate the camera at all
I had an issue with the camera zoom how u did it actually made it zoom infinitely in with up & down on mouse wheel (i fixed this by changing the -20 to a positive 20) also the clamps didn't work this way either (i fixed this by deleting the variables and just typing it into the clamps slots) just incase anyone else had this problem (im also using a later version then when video was made)
The clamps should limit it, maybe something in the section was missed

Ive tried to open, using an "open level by name" after the "on clicked", but it goes back to the original parts (the guy with the suit)... would you please give me a light how to do that? thanks a lot in advance for all your effort to teach us
You would need to make a save system, try looking for save system unreal engine, you need will need to make it slighly different but you want to save the changes that happen

For those who are new to this, if you're using blender make sure your animations all have more than 1 keyframe, otherwise when you import into unreal your gpu will crash;
This also includes animation slots with no keyframes at all, just go ahead and add keyframes anyway.
Also where it says "Armature" rename it to "Root"

Trying to follow along and even with 0.5 speed & MULTIPLE skip backs....its hard to follow at a point. Camera stuff is great, starts to get in the weeds with the character creation part aaannd then thats that. Nothing looks the same, the icons are different, the prompts are different or totally missing. The idle bp just doesnt even pop up...idk man, if I cant follow a step by step guide I guess this sht just aint for me :(

values only give you axis value and does not have an execution pin

I had same issue, FBX import screen had "import animations" unticked (by default?) ticking that fixed it. It's shown ticked in the video.

When trying to compile the camera
this error info doesnt really tell much, maybe just delete the camera and add a new one and see if the problem still presists
