Just got myself one! Super thrilled with it. Naturally, watched a tonne of YT to 1. Validate purchase 2. Info and general reviews. Holy moley you are the only one with an once of personality! Everyone else is the same, overproduced, philips hue lit up, talking robots! Thanks for a great video and thanks for being a normal human being!
This is exactly the video i needed! I switch between windows and mac a lot at home and it was annoying to have to do it manually each time. Super useful to see how to set it up so seamlessly.
Late to this video but the mx master 3 and mx keys have logitech flow so you can use two computers without manually switching between them. It treats the screens of each computer as a dual screen setup and you can copy and paste from one computer to the other by just using the mouse. it sends the words you copy or even files you copy over wifi so theres no limit to the file size that you can copy between the two devices. its super convenient for productivity
Hey Bob, just wanted to chime in to say that your displayport switcher's usb 2.0 ports are probably good enough for switching your audio interface. I would wager most usb audio interfaces are still usb 2.0 devices and will work fine over usb 2.0 ports, as usb 2.0 is a standard that is used in a lot of audio interfaces these days to maximize their use with iphones. I just want to say that having a docking station is very nice. I have a thinkpad with a docking port on the bottom of it and it is so nice to just put it in a dock at home and then take it out when I'm ready to leave. I really enjoyed the video, keep doing these Bob!
That's what I thought as well. I have the gen 3 version of the scarlett interface he has and it worked just fine on usb 2.0 computers before I upgraded to M1.
I love how Apple thinks 512 gb in the lower model is an acceptable amount of storage. Storage is so cheap these days but they still make a $2,500 model that doesn't just have a terabyte..
Cool set up my friend but how about your MacBook’s battery health? Using two monitors I think kills the battery even if you plug it in. Is not? If so please write to me !
I’m able to drive LG 27GN950 at 4k 144hz no problem. That’s the EVE monitor problem, not the macbook’s fault. Try using another thunderbolt port because one single port may not have enough bandwidth for both high refresh rate 4k and ultra wide.
You should make a video trying to stream from your new Macbook. I'm a somewhat beginner streamer and used your previous guide and use my Xbox Series S and Switch, an Elgato HD60S, into my 2012 Macbook (i7, 16gb RAM, SSD). Would love to see how the M1 Max does with console streaming.
I previously owned a 2012 Mac mini (that I bought new in 2012) all the way to 2020. I now use an intel i3 4K Retina iMac. I think will upgrade to a M2 Mac mini in a few years.
There's no good software for streaming on Mac, and Macs have a really hard time capturing audio from the computer itself. It becomes exponentially more annoying. Also, thanks :3
You could probably get your 120hz, and possibly adaptive sync if the display supports it if you were to switch from HDMI to DisplayPort. USB 4 supports DisplayPort altmode natively, which is much less work for it than outputting HDMI.
The M1 and M1 Max have my intrigued and I have never really been a mac user. I have used macbooks but it just hasn't compared to my experience with a window's desktop. There are still some things I miss though, namely the emulation software (OpenEMU I think) and Logic and Final Cut
im curious. Does the Ethernet-Port work with the MacBook Pro? I want to buy the Docking but for me the Ethernet is very important and i dont know if i missed it in the video, but i dont know it that works :) i would love to get that answered. BTW i love your video. It helped me a lot with the Razer Dock with the MacBook
finally a damn video with the razer thunderbolt 4 dock hardly any videos are even on it just some saying update on it on a defective unit hardly any showing it off of how it is or its rgb features on the black one
You mention macs aren't good for live streaming. Could you elaborate more on that? I've never tried either but I'm curious as to why or what your experience has been. Thanks!
Really love this video man. A little confused on the daisy chaining between the thunderbolt dock and the gaming pc. what input allows for the gaming pc to recognize the other peripherals (mouse & keyboard). Trying to think this through and whether or not a KVM switch is necessary. About to start upgrading my setup very similar to support work from my MacBook Pro 14 inch and then when I'm relaxing I switch over to my gaming rig! Question about the dock.
good to know about that dock, I've been looking for a dock that can send my mac to multiple screens forever, so annoying that most can do mutli-display with a mac
are you sure that 90w Power deliver from Razer dock is enough to charge M1 Max 16 inch? (this is 16 inch macbook pro right) .... and also you are getting full performance from the mac with this 90w PD??
@@justkailash thats right. they are testet that they need in highpower mode about 110-120watt, if you dont have this or u use just the batterie, you cant use this mode.

Thank god this was linked on the Wulff Den video today! I would have never realized I hadn't subscribed to this channel after the apartment video! Ever get that shelf riser figured out?
Hey Bob, amazing video. at 10:40 minute of your video you talk about weird mac scaling issues. do you know how to fix that? because im having not sharp images at native resolution of my monitor 1920x1200. images does not seem sharp enough. and eyes become tired
coming from 27 iMac with 5K, do you see the difference between retina 5k and your 4k resolution on monitory? I am torn as there is something like one Lg monitor with 5K resolution in Europe available.
I cried when I realized my ikea Karlby & standing desk frame had too much wobble for my desk clamped cameras. Tore it down & sent the standing desk frame back.
Unfortunately that mouse, even though it's amazing, it doesn't work well on Mac with just Bluetooth. You should always connect it with the USB dongle on Mac

How did you get it to display on two monitors with an M1 Mac? I’m not able to connect mine to a second monitor and I went to check the Razer website and it even says there that it only supports 1 display for M1 Macs.
Nevermind. I've just realized the problem. I just have the regular M1 chip which does not support two monitors even with the Razer dock... Looks like I'm sending it back.
I've been trying to find a good setup for my M1 Max MBP too. I've had hit or miss experience with Thunderbolt 3 (4) docks and a bit worse with USB adapters. I have an Intel MBP for work (corporate asset) and a personal MBP M1 Max for personal/moonlighting gigs. I've started labeling stuff that works with my M1 system.
If your device resolution is lower than the monitors, that'd hog some GPU resources. Especially on programs that haven't been updated in a while. Finale (a music notation software I use) had this same annoying bug for a while. You can right click on the app, hit get info, and find the option about opening in low res mode. Fixed it for me
You can work around the macOS being stuck at a UI scaling that's straight from the early 00's with a EDID Override, where you make the system see the display as QHD (1440/1600p) instead of UHD (4K). In fact, EDID override is a must-have not only for that, but if ever tried to plug in an TV to a mac and the colours were sh!tty: that's because if the display supports YCbCr (which basically is the digital version of the component video therefore why TVs support it via HDMI), macOS defaults to it. Seriously, if macOS sees the display supports a lesser standard, it defaults to it, completely ignoring RGB, isn't that genius?
