Greetings from Galway. Around me river as well is empty but in my case everything is simple. IFI killing pike in Corrib lake from 2019. In 2019 over 1100 pikes was kiled. For two years now, fishermen have been complaining that there is no salmon !!! I know there’s a net that separates the river from the lake to protect salmon and trout from pike !!!!! Fish is only in places for members of clubs. Everywhere is only lots of roach , in every water. I spoke to ifi employees when they control me, but only they lied. They asked what you caught, so I showed a picture of a 24 cm perch and heard . . . NICE FISH !!!!??????????? Regards Thomas
Ya man the IFI have the rivers fucked. The cut the trees along the river leaving little or no shade for the salmon in the summer. Same here in Limerick some of the best salmon rivers in the world are fucked . Thanks to the IFI and the trawlers that rape the sea and the blame the fisherman with a rod.. Im fishing all my life like my father and his father and his father before him and now most of the rivers are almost DEAD.
Best video Ive seen in ages. Thanks for sharing. I moved to the place you are fishing last year. I bought a licence but couldnt find any decent access for the fly. Would brick myself with the cows in the feild too haha.
Thanks Ger. Back in the day the river was maintained by the fisher men. Nowadays its maintained by the ifi who know very little about the river and care as much. My advice is bring a small hand held saw and open up some clearing . Get to know the farmers they like to know whos on their land and can be very helpful. I know lots of farmers and they are some of the soundest men.
Really enjoyed that! Love fishing the worm! Brought back some great memories in this video. Like yourself used to maybe keep 1 per season and return the rest. English salmon are rare these days. Not allowed to use the worm anymore either. Keep the videos coming, loved it and the memories it brought back.
@@riseshine495 irelands on my bucket list for a salmon next year hopefully get a chance to worm fish again! Ended up going through a load of pics after watching this so very much rekindled the fire lol
Some of the scariest times I've had have been walking back from the fishing in the dark through the fields and the bullocks start jumping and bucking around. When the only choices are keep walking through the bullocks going wild or climb down into the river in the pitch dark you test your own self presentation instincts.
Did I miss something, because I didn't see a fish ,were fly fishing or spinning, or useing worm ,,all I got was alot of greenery and a few cattle grazing.,and a few tips, that most salmon fishermen already know ,
Fact Martin very little in the rivers. A few fish went during the flood a few weeks back but you cold count them on one hand. The E.S.B have a damn out there near Killaloe the call it the parteen hydro electric damn. They have the gates closed most of the time so no fish can get up the Shannon. Its a fxxking disgrace the keep the fish back and they can take what they like when the like.
@@riseshine495 I know of 2 fish got in pallsgreen I saw them both around 5 pound , but run was v poor, really enjoyed your video keep putting them up ,great stuff
@@Dougtroutfisher.4046 8lb seatrout some fish. They say pound for pound the seatrout are the best fighters. I got seatrout 4lb on the fly and the kept leaping into the air striped the line of the reel like a salmon of ten pound. Well with that said keep her lit Doug and may you catch many more my man.
