Listening to this; I was enlightened that in my own life, with a father who raised me, I didn't see the maturity, decisiveness, or consistency; but I did realize that my father could only give what he could. He wasn't taught, therefore, he could not show those things to me. I just wonder at this point in this world, will this change be made in our communities for those characteristics to be displayed, while race identities in America are still problematic. Since this topic has come to the platform once again, my prayer is that more of these topics come to the forefront and wisdom is gained. Love each other, love all you can and make progress!

So I walked into his church back in 1996 and Wow. I had never answered an alter call before... All I have to say is what an unbelievable and difficult but transformational journey. Not pious, down to earth. It really is about christianity in our culture and not just christianity all religions. Hillary Clinton visited the Congregation often and I'm sure that's why her campaign motto was "Stronger Together "

That was a good interview. The information that was covered was sound teaching. And the book sounds like something worth having in my library. In his book, he was covering men. Hopefully, the next one will cover the women. Our culture is overwhelmed with what the man should do, but very less in comparison for the women. There is what I call subliminal brainwashing. That all men and fathers are bad and all women and mothers are good. And we know that's ridiculous. Unless women find out what it is that they need to do too, things will not change. Both genders have their part to play in the relationship. If anyone thinks any differently they should stay single.
The older men and women are instructed to teach the younger. Unfortunately, the examples have not always been good, because of a lack of teaching. And broken homes have enlarged the gap. Men and women were created differently by design. And when they work together in marriage they are an incredible team.
Many men and women like myself were not taught how to choose a mate. Or how to coexist with the opposite sex. Too many of us don't own or even would read a relationship book if someone gave it to us. Is that too much effort for a relationship we want to last for a lifetime? But, we will spend years studying for degrees, hours of entertainment, much effort shopping... etc. There are some very good books out there if you want to enjoy your marriage or be prepared for one.

you sound like my father which is 76 years old now. i was born in dec 94. definitely the way you speak like my father. haha. so sorry i have seen a lot of men of how their lives their life and i have 2 older brothers. both of them were married. and i just want to laugh how they lived their own marriage. if you pay attention to A.R bernard he said it has liberating effect with a woman. which mean woman also deal with those four characteristic. if you live in Jesus supposed to be man and woman is God's children. you should treat woman same like you want to treat yourself. One thing my father grew up fatherless. so i am also woman fatherless i had father wounded same like pastor A.R bernard said. in bible said : You cannot give what you don't have. the only way that you want to have is go back to Jesus. study bible. study about fatherly in Heaven. if you continue to my disciple, you will learn the truth and the truth will set you free. SO.. Thats the only ticket. the way you comment it seems like you get intimidated by women. youre not full to the story. maturity doesnt come with the age. i said to you even my older sister more capable then my 2 older brothers. you should open your mind up. this book for educate a man. not to intimidated you. only a fool that doesnt want to be teach. you have great resource by this pastor. even i am as a woman really interested with this book but not to judge a man but to study for my self.

I want to see the full interview. Ive seen Bernard pull coat tails of men and women in these type of discussions. I don’t know what the videos editor took out or left in. It could be bias editing.

Looking down at men is a problem "maybe they don't have the capacity" smh

Agreed. It's a major problem to generalize and kick a man down because he is failing. There are men out there that want to do right and want to be like Christ. And there needs to be support for them.

Absolutely. I’m glad you caught that. There’s nothing wrong with being a strong determined woman. In fact, to raise a family and support her husband, one might argue that strength and “education” are prerequisites.
I often find that, due to our flesh, women tend to want to use their skills(especially in the black community) to usurp the man and be in a leadership position.
While I don’t agree that every woman behaves this way I completely understand their ‘feelings’. Our culture has tailored the ideas of victimhood and feminism.
At this point I’m not sure if men have been weak refusing to correct women, or that women have been empowered

Yeah!!!! With All Due Respect To the Pastor.. He TOTALLY MISSED THOSE CONDESCENDING IMPLICATIONS... A FEW Times. He Actually CAUGHT THAT one But Missed a FEW Throughout the interview.

@@Purifiedsams I didn't agree with the statement she made either, but there's nothing wrong with women being in leadership positions. We don't have to "usurp" people to get there. You're the problem if you feel like something's being taken from you when women are accomplishing and leading.
