Thank you as always! You are making me want to take a trip across town to get to my favorite Total Wine location to replenish my Sagamore collection that is running low!
I’ll be at the distillery next week. Looking forward to trying and probably buying this. Also have 2 port finishes for myself and a buddy waiting on me.
Well BB, I've been eyeing this bottle for a while because I just like Sagamore Rye variations, but it cost me $95 before tax. So I jumped on it. Again, thanks for the review.
Woah, didn't expect you to whip out a cocktail! I'm not a manhattan drinker, but the way you described this as a finished rye with big cherry notes has me intrigued. If I pass on this it is only because I have five Sagamores on my shelf already. Great review, as always.
Haha yeah I think even if your not a mixed cocktails person this would appeal to those that just like a finished rye but if you got 5 other finished ones this may not beat others from them
Bull's Head!!! That's super local to me. You were a stones throw away from my fav PA distillery, Stoll & Wolfe. Their Rye is really good. You have to try the Rosen Rye. I was just at Sagamore over the weekend and snagged the Manhattan, DO, and Meade finish. All three are bonkers good.
I have a mead finish on the way so I’ll review that soon as well. And oh man I detest stoll and Wolfe haha I tried it a year ago and it was so grassy hay forward way to young for me. That said I didn’t have the Rosen rye and I hear their mgp distillate releases are really good maybe I need to try them again
@@bourbonbill I stick with their Single Barrel Rye releases. Which I've found are really good. I don't go for any of the core shelfer releases. The Rosen is unique, but $$ to fund the project. The Sagamore Mead is really good, I like it a lot. I need to get a Port finish, even if I have to drive there to get it. I suspect it's nowhere in PA.
@@AmishFuryyep port was distillery and a few select MD stores only not sure if they still have some they will release a new batch this year probably in November
@@bourbonbill I was there Sunday and they said "fall", not a specific month. So hopefully they send a Thieves email out. I am 80 miles away so might be worth a day trip. Mrs, has a coworker/friend that lives in the harbor that comes up this way often. Could always ask for a favor.

Thanks for the awesome review! Have almost pulled the trigger on this one several times but now definitely gonna pick it up
You better hurry up lol they might not have a ton left

The port is killer besides the 8yr my favorite thing they have done
@@bourbonbill I’m looking forward to it. I passed on the 8 yr over the holidays cause I had bought too much that week. I regret it haha

Of course it’s a good bottle quite unique in the ryes out there

Glad I grabbed a couple!
Haha smart choice Mike. I don’t think the bottle will last too long
I was on the fence with this one Bill. Guess I have to get it now LOL!!!!
Consider me the kool aid man just busted that fence down haha

@@bourbonbill Good one!!!! LOL!!
Bill, is the Sagamore Barrel Select a buy at MSRP? 7 year.
Yeah absolutely it is. They are older store picks at cask strength or real close to cask always worth a buy for 65ish

It is like a manhattan. I will be sending Dave a sample of it tomorrow (filling the samples for him tonight) 🥃🥃
That’s awesome we need to convert him to a rye guy yet
I know most will say get both but I can’t decide between this and the 8 year.
The 8yr is better
@@bourbonbill thanks! May grab it tomorrow
Shameless love for dat Sagamore 😂
Absolutely it’s delicious stuff
I’m not a mixed drink kind of guy, but this sounds good
Yeah it comes off more as a finished rye than a mixed drink it’s well done for sure
Manhattan is a borough of New York City, but not a city 🏙️ itself👍🏻
Ahh yes correct I misspoke on the review
☝🏻🤓
Can we say Sagamore Fan Boy? 🤣😝
Absolutely lol it was my gateway rye and I just don’t see anyone putting up well aged finished ryes as well for the same value
