with Kiernan being allergic to cats? I doubt it. I honestly will never understand why they chose someone allergic to cats to play a witch... who has a cat like ????
@@lucyannanarnia Kiernan had no idea about being allergic. I'm not saying for her to be face to face with the cats in every scene. Its just...Salem can help out more than he did. In first episode he was so badass.
Well, they kind of needed to replace Salem in that regard. He was always Sabrina's partner in crime and offered her guidance whether it was good or bad. Since he doesn't talk in this show, they needed Ambrose to fill that role.
Actually the ORIGINAL Salem was silent as well. He only ever started talking in the comics when the idea was introduced by the 90s sitcom. A quick look at Wikipedia could‘ve prevented that kind of misinformation. I personally prefer silent Salem in this. The 90s one is iconic, but an all the time talking, sassy cat doesn‘t really fit this new show.
I watched 1st 2 episodes last night. I am not a Sabrina fan, I never watched the original show much nor read the comics. I am a light fan of Riverdale, but omg this Sabrina show is amazing so far. Not even for a comic book show, honestly I rate it as high as Westworld and Breaking Bad in terms of writing and acting.
@@Soldmysoulforablurayplayer hahahahahaha did you just compare Sabrina to Westworld and Breaking Bad!??!? 😂😂 Don't get me wrong Chilling adventures of Sabrina was really good but it's NOwhere near as brilliant as those two shows! Those two shows are literally masterpieces with some of the greatest actors and directors alive in it like Bryan Cranston and Anthony Hopkins and especially Westworld has massive sets and film locations with really complicated storylines in it. Breaking Bad is rated as the greatest ending EVER made. That's a faar reach to even compare them.
im good with Salem not being able to talk in CAOS, it wouldnt make sense given the style of the show and would just ruin the world they're creating. in fact it makes most sense if its only Sabrina that can hear him in her head given that the partnership is with her and not with anybody else.
steelsheen no it could have still worked. If we could hear Salem telepathically talk to her in that voice he does in his goblin form and when he does talk to her it would only be when she was alone with Salem, giving us insight into their partnership. When other characters were in the room we’d only hear Sabrina talking.
The cat talking in his Goblin voice would add nothing. He’s not going to be sassy and funny, so why do we need to hear him. They have absolutely made the correct decision.
I watched the first season (aka part 1) and it’s absolutely amazing. Special effects, atmosphere, and storytelling is outstanding. Kiernan truly embodies Sabrina.
Jose Araujo i think it had amazing special effects moments but the ending with madam satans’s face was bad but the scarecrow for example or Jesse’s body and face being possessed.
Alex TheGreat to be honest i think very few, but please if you can’t handle it don’t go by my word. Just know it’s dark and I wouldn’t watch it if i were younger than 14. I’m 18 so it doesn’t feel scary or jump scary to me like if i was younger.
Frankie x I haven’t finished yet but come on, Jesse’s whole possession thing looked fake, his puke, his blood make up, and don’t get me started when the Dark Lord possessed the principal of Baxter High School, also that moment when Madame Satan killed the teacher, the blood coming out of her throat looked soo fake, also when Sabrina’s white dress turned black or when batibat showed up, that thing looked like a power ranger monster
I have to admit, I am sadden that Salem does not speak. However, I do like the fact that Salem is more of a protector than just a smart mouthed but cute cat. In the 90s version, it’s clear that Salem was Sabrina’s familiar, but he didn’t act like one. He acted like a regular house cat that happens to talk, plus he seemed to get her deeper into trouble or didn’t help her get out of the trouble she was already in. He was lacking in familiar skills. He sat around all day eating cake and talking shit all day. All the while looking cute as fuck. The new (hate to say it but it’s true) and improved Salem is just as cute as fuck, purrs ever so loudly (more cuteness there), and 100 percent helpful. This is a Salem you can count on. While I shall always love my talking Salem, I have to go with the more proactive Salem who knows what it means to be a familiar.
100% agree if anything the series is more accurate than the 90s sitcom so it was a smart move on their part since in the comics salem doesn't speak at all and actually acts more like a legitimate familiar.
Salem wasn’t a familiar in the 90s show he was a warlock that tried to over throw the witch council and was punished by being turned into a cat he was more a friend or family member to Sabrina than anything else he wasn’t meant to be a familiar they didn’t even have familiars in the 90s show.
I would agree that old Salem really was a friend of a family who once visited and stayed for years. As old lore says Salem was Hilda's friend and they used to hang out and have fun as i understend they reveled together and once then Salem got arrested by magic police Yes he got her in trouble but only cause Sabrina herself was curious witch. And he always helped her to get out of trouble even if he was the one who got her in some
@@breakfastattiffanys741 SAME I’VE BEEN OBSESSED WITH GOBLIN FORM OF SALEM SINCE I FIRST SAW HIM That was the better writing of Sabrina :( Back when it was genuinely eerie and creepy and still had nuances of humour or romance; back when it was not so stupidly fantastical and completely out of the bounds of reality or comprehension ugh. Whatever, I’m still waiting on Salem to return back to his goblin form in the near future 🤞🏽✨ SO MANY MISSED OPPORTUNITIES FOR SALEM TO REALLY BE A PART OF SABRINA’S ADVENTURES 😭😭😭😭
@@chloe.cordeiro yes! I was enchanted in the beginning 🖤 I honestly thought it was going to be a horror series following the growing up of a clever eerie Sabrina. I mean I still watched every episode and the visuals were amazing but blah to the tween sillyness it became.
Nope. The raven wasn't a familiar... he is actually a demon called Stolas. That woman is madam satan aka the "mother of demons" she isn't a witch.. so he wasn't a familiar/goblin. Since he is a demon, when she killed him, she sent him back to satan in hell... prob to give him an update on everything... the reddit post below explains it well. www.reddit.com/r/AdventuresOfSabrina/comments/9s9f86/finale_fun_fact_and_spoiler_about_stolas/
Yeah i really don't think .. that wouldn't make sense for him to talk now and not before .. What would make more sense is maybe if we saw his demon form a little more
@@casandrar.4349 I mean, she killed Stolas because after she asked him to speak, he tells her that Satan was trying to make Sabrina be his companion. So she killed him in anger, and Madam Satan made it clear she'd get rid of Sabrina if it came to that.
Maybe Salem doesn't talk in part one because Sabrina didn't have her full powers because she didn't go through with her dark baptism and now ( like her hair changing to white after signing the book of the beast ) Salem may talk in future seasons. Another reason could be that Sabrina has to give permission for Salem to speak out loud this could be seen when at the end Madam Satan tells Stolas to " say it not squawk it " this could be seen as her giving him permission to speak out loud to her in English rather then speaking to her the way the animal of the familiar would speak. Sabrina might have not given permission for Salem to speak out loud on purpose because she just wants to feel normal and try to stop the " witch side " of her life begin to take over even more then it already has. This also means that we will hear Salem speak in season 2 as she's now embraced the witch side of her life completely.
I also thought about the full powers theory but I don't agree with the second one the crow was a typical familiar a servant bound however Sabrina called for a partner an equal and Salem chose her, so he doesnt need her permission in the show you can see the he is powerful enough to mess up a few of Madam Satan tricks and to protect Sabrina he reached places he shouldnt with impecable timing. I hope we are right about the power level theory though and if not I'm cool with it too, the show is great so far.
I really liked this new Sabrina, I watched the entire season over the weekend. I think Kiernan is the embodiement of the character. I also liked that Salem spoke to her before taking form, it gives the viewer an indication that he is capable of speaking. Look forward to season 2.
I'll admit, I'm sad to hear that Salem doesn't talk but thankfully, I'm not one of those people who lose their sh!t when modern-day movie/Tv Show writers/directors change stuff from the original (some would say I'm too forgiving), as long as it's within reason. I haven't watched the show yet so I'm gonna check it out and see how it goes from there ^_^
@@johnnyfuck3760 whose to say she can't use an actual familiar, just because she's s demon? Familiars are just goblins in disguise. And Stolas only spoke after she insisted.
Barbie Slayerr madam satan actually is a witch and the name madam satan is just a title. The witches are Satans hentchmen. She’s a very old witch. So the crow was in fact her familiar.
Y’all, it’s not because Lilith is a demon, it’s because demons only appear to talk in their demonic form Salem has only ever talked in his goblin form, same applies to every other familiar. Meanwhile, Stolas is actually already in his demonic form. Stolas is a raven/owl demon comes the Ars Goetia (also known as the lesser keys of Solomon). His normal form is that of a raven. Therefore he’s able to speak
I want salem to talk and be sassy as in the 90s. Its so sad they didnt gave him that personality (or any at all). Also i would love to have this salem still be an evil mage transformed into a cat as punishment. Because of that he could even be a unique familiar, unlike all other familiars of the series. That would also add and explain why he is more intelligent and powerful than the others and be a better protector of sabrina.I would lov them to give him more importantce in this series. imao the series loses SO much without talking sassy salem. Dont say it will break the dark tone of the series because ambrose does similar and salem could add a darker tone using dark sassy comments or making people in the show think about difficult topics.
Honnestly i really don't see what it would change for Salem to talk ... Salem being all sassy really doesn't fit the tone of this show for me :/ It fit the old sitcom because it was comedy but here not that much .. Besides i feel like Ambrose completely replaced Salem's character lol and i'd really keep Ambrose over a talking cat... the only thing that would be cool is if we'd see his demon form a little more because it's dope ^^
Hopefully they will make him talk in S2. I really want Nick Bakay doing a serious but also once in a while a snarky or ironic voice of Salem. I think he would do fine if they dont write him too comedic
I think one of the reasons I enjoyed the 90s show so much was because of Salem. Without his comedic humour I doubt I’d of been into it much or remember the show so fondly.
The thing is when Sabrina and Salem talk we could hear Sabrina's side of the conversation, like R2D2 in Star Wars. I don't have a problem with that though
I think they’re trying to establish this series as its own before introducing a talking Salem. There’s so many people saying how they miss his witty banter in the older show and I think too many people would be comparing the two instead of appreciating it as it’s own new take on the character.
Salem needs to talk. He plays such an important role. He is a motivater the agent of chaos he balances sabrina he is a warlock or was apparently with knowledge a lust for power that turned into a walking talking lesson. Above and beyond his sarcasm is a key to making awesomeness.
Ok it might be ok if they have a familiar thing. And salem should talk forever he was the best in the series with melissa joan hart. Still I might check it out
Salem does have conversations with Sabrina but we are only able to hear meows and Sabrina responding to them. Which makes Familiars in this show almost come off like Pokemon.
Makes sense seeing as Familiars in mythology mainly talk to their master through a telepathic link between them. Also Hilda did say in season 1 that a Familiar has a certain bond with their master.
I quite like the idea that only the witch can hear their familiar, or should that be familiars, as with Hilda doesn't have just 1 spider she has a whole cluster of spiders. It makes communicating with each other more secretive, especially if Salem needs to tell Sabrina something without others knowing.
Even though I know that Salem didn’t talk until the show “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, I still want him to talk. That’s like if they remade “Hocus Pocus” & had Thackery Binx as a cat but he didn’t talk. It just seems wrong to me. I know that Netflix already gave us a snarky talking feline in “The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell” with Rankle the Ancient Mummy Cat (who is my new Power Animal) but what can I say? I need more talking cats in my life!
*This has light spoilers if people haven’t seen all of season one, but the names aren’t mentioned. I want Salem to communicate with Sabrina, though not necessarily ‘talk.’ A form of one-on-one psychic communication, a telepathic link, wouldn’t be at all far-fetched in a show like this, and in a way it makes sense; how does Salem just know when Sabrina needs him? So some kind of communication that doesn’t need to be verbalized or even in earshot would make sense. At one point the show lets you hear a familiar in animal form talking to their master (telepathic link, they didn’t open their mouths and use vocal cords, lol). So I think it was their way to see if people liked it or hated it, and also to show that it *could* happen with Salem, to crack that door open for season two. If enough people are upset enough about Salem not talking, if no one thought the other familiar talking was too weird, it’ll be a great way for it to have precedent. Or they may never do anything with it, and it was just a one time thing. It gives me hope, anyway! I like the idea of the witch being the only person who can understand what the familiar says. Salem could be reporting directly to her and correcting half-truths and lies someone else says while that convo happens. “I was looking out for you.” *She was trying to gain favor.* “I went there to find you and make sure you’re okay.” *She told Hilda she was going to stop you.* And then he washes his paw and is like, *You can do what you want with that information.* And he wanders off. 😅 Ambrose does take up a lot of the mantle of Salem, which fills that void and helps make his character more charming, but I don’t think it’s enough of that role being dispersed. It also feels a waste of a really intriguing past and backstory and just simply his world view. There’s so much potential here!’ I want to know about goblins! Is Salem less protected because of their deal? Does he have more freedom? What might he do with it, if so? Is he susceptible to attacks from other witches, familiars, or free goblins? Will he be looked on as an abomination by his own people, because he’s in this unnatural contract? And he could tell us more about other Creatures in Sabrina’s world. He could be the touchstone for all of that. And instead of it coming from the aunts in a more scholarly way, it can be personal experience with him. I’d view wendigos differently if I found out that Salem tangled with one once, on the outskirts of the goblin kingdom, because it was taking humans that were the rightful prey of the goblins. He can hate faeries because they gossip, or something, or because he doesn’t have time for their seemingly endless etiquette. 😅 He can be a doorway to a different world, which... Ambrose isn’t. Ambrose has guided her well. But I’d love to see the depth of the world grow, now that season one anchored us in it. And Salem having a story, in his own words, is a way to do that. I know Kiernan’s allergies will make it hard for her to be in a lot of scenes with him, but I hope they work it out. My own black cat Arwen makes my allergies nuts. I spent three months with awful nausea and reflux and basically spent it over a bucket, so much so that a few people made pregnancy jokes (not possible, lol). Thank God we figured it out! It’s probably going to take me getting little injections every week to really get them under control, but I’m lovestruck, and I’ll do whatever I need to for my furry elven princess. ☺️ I hope they find something that can help her with her allergies that won’t make her too fuzzy to act, or just get a really really good animatronic for most of the shots where she’d have to be close, and minimize the window she’s around Salem as much as possible. Even have a body double hug him if it’s from the right angle. I really want it to work out because he could have such an interesting story, and it’s a shame if they don’t solely based on the allergy. What would you like to learn more about? What could Salem shine a light on, something other characters would have less history with and way less one on one knowledge?
I do Wish he does talk but he is still so cool with the way he protects her. Oh and Ambrose understood Salem when he needed Ambrose's help to bring Sabrina back from Astro Projection
I like salem alway talk, so viewer still know what is he saying. But i really like salem to talk because it so cute and funny but if they going to apply on this show, it would be cool and interesting to hear what is saying. Like the part "he just protect he's mother". Like i want to know he 's voice.
I honestly think it's better that Salem doesn't have speech. We already know what him and sabrina say to each other. Like we get it. Makes it more realistic between witch and familiar.

I actually like it that Salem doesn't speak out loud. I feel like the connection between a witch and their familiar is very personal, so it would only be fitting that we couldn't hear it.
its also fair to remember that this series was based on the Archie Comic of the same name, which was already a reimagining of "Sabrina the teenage witch" Archie Comics. There are huge differences in the Netflix series and the comic, however, so it will be interesting to sew what other changes that will make in season 2.
I mean I'm allergic to cats and dogs and i still have a cat and still cuddle with her. I just can't give her a bath if i do i can't breath at all and have an asthma attack
BEYOU ANDONLYYOU You don’t need to bathe cats because they bathe themselves. Unless something happened where they actually need it, other than that it’s best to leave them be. They know what to do.
I think at first i was disappointed that Salem didn’t talk, but I’ve totally become obsessed with Ambrose and feel as though he kind of took Salem’s story line which I’m not mad at. However i do hope in future seasons they let Salem come back as a goblin and talk in that way
I feel like it’s better with this particular remake because it’s very grim, very real you know ! So making the cat talk would come off abit comedic kind of ! But still keeping that he talks to Sabrina and only she understands is a cool twist ! Love this tv show! It’s so good.
Ok, well let's get down to this, shall we?! ☺ Salem in the 90's was a sassy and comedic familiar of Brina because the 90's Brina had sparkles and chuckles. THIS familiar is a ferocious familiar of Brina that protects her and vice versa! This Brina and the other witches and warlocks are more "litteral" witches as they are speaking real spells in the show, hence the Latin they all speak. Familiars in real life do not speak to us in a sassy comedic tone at all. There is a communication and you and you familiar CAN understand each other, just not in the sense that you would think. Also, Brina's cousin Ambrose takes place of the "talking Salem" from the 90's. And as partial as I am with that, I quite love it! Ambrose is a badass warlock as well as extremely intelligent and very sexy! 😍 BESIDES!! what would you rather have?! Sparkles or fire?! 😈😁 As for me, I much prefer hellfire and a beautiful warlock, along with the SEXIEST Dark Lord EVER!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Praise Satan! 😁🙏😁😂
Hope it talks more in the Later series Once established her own identity as a witch maybe Salem could be a rebel as well that could be why he is available to come with an unconventional summoning
Ever since this first series played...I started to notice that we been getting a lot of new cat owners bringing in their first black kittens in for their spay/neuter rabies shots..and about most of all those black kittens were named Salem 😁😁...
I think the quiet cat suits the show too, although a talking cat wouldn’t make it goofy. It’s like in Coraline, that’s a pretty dark movie but the cat is still informative and sensible, all while still being wise cracking and good.
Dont forget to say "Welcome Wizards" (Harry Potter reference). We had a British Black Shorthair cat named Midnight (Fat Boy) who was a true Halloween cat.
I think this was a great twist on a great show. Not for kids. And im glad its for us grown ups who watched the original. Its like a fun tribute for the fans.
Familiars are spirits who serve the witch and give advice and guidance. Socrates claimed that he had a familiar who gave him much sage advice. Familiars are 1:Cats 2: Rabbits 3: Owls 4: Dogs and 5: Bats. Familiars can also take a human form. These particular familiars are 1: Angels 2: Faeries. I wonder what the cat thinks about being a familiar. 😊
Well Ambrose does try to get the dead warlock's familiar to speak to him. So maybe familiars just speak to who they are attached to. Sabrina did say Salem picked his own name.
Salem might talk in a later series since we clearly here that Raven talk to the mother of demons :) even if he doesn't as Salem, I would love to see him talk as that shadowy figure when they first meet.
I wish Salem spoke more when in “goblin” form. Like when he first introduced himself and then when he attacked the scarecrow (he didn’t talk in that second example, but it would’ve been cool if he said something).
I was in my teens and early 20's in the 90's and was a fan of sabrina the teenage witch. I also had a huge crush on melissa Joan Hart. Wow, what a posterior on that woman. I watched the first season, sorry bing watched in 3 days, found it to be just as entertaining only on a more adult level. I love the changes and I hope to see another season.
I adore the fact she didn't pick him and that their deal is that they are both equal to eachother, and the fact that Salem true form isn't a damn Goblin. 😂
I'm allergic to cats as well. But I still look after my neighbors' 3cats when he's gone. The youngest one is still a kitten and loooves to cuddle, so I do that. And I'm allergic to dogs yet I have one and my grandparents have always had them. Sooo allergies suck, but don't stop you. So go Kiernan!

A woman I'm friends with online is allergic to cats, and so are her two daughters ... but they have cats in their home. My online friend said that as long as they bathe the cats once a week, they have no allergic reactions to them.
...i like that he doesn't talk...i like that he simply meows and sabrina responds as if he said a whole speach. its almost like only sabrina is meant tobhear exactly what her familiar and im perfectly okay with that. Making him talk only would have made fans constantly compare him tobthe tv show salem
Sabrina: I’m sorry. Salem: me t- Writers: *DON’T SAY A WORD *CAT** Salem: * meow* Writes: good kitty cat... Salem: *GRRRRRRRR* * stretches writes* Writes: I’m sorry..... HELP MEEE. Sabrina: shame on you. Don’t mess with my cat!
If Salem doesn't talk is it really worth watching? EDIT: So I've pretty much confirmed once and for all that sarcasm doesn't always translate well online lol
Personally this new serie is so much more interesting to me than the old shows we had. Love what they did with the Characters. I love the new badass Zelda. :o
At first, I was hesitant to watch this show because quite frankly it spooked me. Horror movies or anything that deals with witches or demons automatically disinterests me. Glad I decided to watch the show, anyways. I'm halfway done with Season 1 and I cannot wait to finish it. The storyline is truly magical! ;-)

No one can replace Salem. Not even a new black guy token
Ambros was in the original comics and salem did talk not exactly the most sassy tho.
Ambros is basically that comedic relief. lol
True true
Because the 90s is a comedy, the netflix is a bit darker thats why
I watched 1st 2 episodes last night. I am not a Sabrina fan, I never watched the original show much nor read the comics. I am a light fan of Riverdale, but omg this Sabrina show is amazing so far. Not even for a comic book show, honestly I rate it as high as Westworld and Breaking Bad in terms of writing and acting.
@@masterrem1739 You could still have a talking cat, But not have Salem telling jokes every 5 mins
@@deadbynightupbylunch agreed
Like the Alien Cat in Puella Magi Madoka, it looks like a white cat with red eyes, use telepathy and never blinks, pure nightmare fuel.
The cat talking in his Goblin voice would add nothing. He’s not going to be sassy and funny, so why do we need to hear him. They have absolutely made the correct decision.
@@deadbynightupbylunch I want his dark voice as his original form portrayed..not as a cat
I watched the first season (aka part 1) and it’s absolutely amazing. Special effects, atmosphere, and storytelling is outstanding. Kiernan truly embodies Sabrina.
Frankie x I agree with you in everything except on the special effects, they’re bad af
is it really scary? were there any jump scares??
As old lore says Salem was Hilda's friend and they used to hang out and have fun as i understend they reveled together and once then Salem got arrested by magic police
Yes he got her in trouble but only cause Sabrina herself was curious witch. And he always helped her to get out of trouble even if he was the one who got her in some
Salem needs to talk like Voldemort using telepathy!
The Hashtager That’s how it works. We just don’t hear what Salem is saying.
The goblin voice in S1 was soooo creepily delicious. Can they not just record little whispers in her ear 🙏🏻
@@breakfastattiffanys741 SAME I’VE BEEN OBSESSED WITH GOBLIN FORM OF SALEM SINCE I FIRST SAW HIM
That was the better writing of Sabrina :( Back when it was genuinely eerie and creepy and still had nuances of humour or romance; back when it was not so stupidly fantastical and completely out of the bounds of reality or comprehension ugh.
Whatever, I’m still waiting on Salem to return back to his goblin form in the near future 🤞🏽✨
SO MANY MISSED OPPORTUNITIES FOR SALEM TO REALLY BE A PART OF SABRINA’S ADVENTURES 😭😭😭😭
@@chloe.cordeiro yes! I was enchanted in the beginning 🖤 I honestly thought it was going to be a horror series following the growing up of a clever eerie Sabrina. I mean I still watched every episode and the visuals were amazing but blah to the tween sillyness it became.
SPOILER ALERT!
Well, I guess he'll talk on season two since in the last part of the last episode the crow actually talked to its master.
i think that too!
I was thinking the same !
I love that first theory
Yeah thats what I think
So, already watched all ten episodes, whoops....
yeah me too
Me too haha i finished earlier this morning and it was amazing.

@@fegafega9776 same, the only bad thing is that i want season 2 and i have to wait until next year😭

He is meowing all the time. Thats enough xD
I love his meows and purrs 🖤
I really liked this new Sabrina, I watched the entire season over the weekend. I think Kiernan is the embodiement of the character. I also liked that Salem spoke to her before taking form, it gives the viewer an indication that he is capable of speaking. Look forward to season 2.
ah man, I wanted a sarcastic salem
Samee!!!!!!!
Same!
I'll admit, I'm sad to hear that Salem doesn't talk but thankfully, I'm not one of those people who lose their sh!t when modern-day movie/Tv Show writers/directors change stuff from the original (some would say I'm too forgiving), as long as it's within reason. I haven't watched the show yet so I'm gonna check it out and see how it goes from there ^_^
because you're a sane, reasonable human being, something we're lacking nowadays.
also it's not based off the sitcom...it's from its own graphic novel.
Though Ambrose does embody aspects of Salem but he is not sasy enough.
To be fair the new show is much more accurate to the comic source material than the 90’s sitcom was
But in the last episode, the crow of Madam Satan talk, so probably in the second season Salem will talk, idk.
Samira madam satan wasn’t a witch. the crow, raven-whatever-was a demon, not a familiar.
@@johnnyfuck3760when she says "my familiar" in episode 2. It would confuse some people.
Y’all, it’s not because Lilith is a demon, it’s because demons only appear to talk in their demonic form
Salem has only ever talked in his goblin form, same applies to every other familiar.
Meanwhile, Stolas is actually already in his demonic form. Stolas is a raven/owl demon comes the Ars Goetia (also known as the lesser keys of Solomon). His normal form is that of a raven. Therefore he’s able to speak
I’m now at episode 4 and I’m obsessed. Wish we got 22 episodes instead of 10
Actually the “Salem” of CAOS is Ambrouse 👨🏾🦲
Well I have a black cat, and let's just say silence speaks volumes. I'm happy that Salem does
not talk.
My black cat was a sweetheart. He literally came to check on ne when I cried. Blackbean's eyes were so expressive, it felt like he could talk.
i miss Salems sass
Ambrose is basically the reboot's version of that aspect of Salem now anyway
If I had to pick a familiar, it would honestly be Salem. I love cats, and a sassy cat with witty comments would be just the best to always have around
The show is pretty good only have one problem the cat need to talk
He should be able to talk later own since on the last episode the crow familiar started talking instead of croaking like it did earlier
Technically he does. He talked in goblin form and he constantly talks to Sabrina.
@@tunderdiamant8651 It is a talking cat
I think one of the reasons I enjoyed the 90s show so much was because of Salem. Without his comedic humour I doubt I’d of been into it much or remember the show so fondly.

Karlie Ureste-They are filming it as we speak :-)
I love that he is silent yet you can see how they communicate with each other. Works 👍👍👍with the show
I tried a marathon on Netflix but made it to 2am only... Blood good show!! Off to watch the rest....

Familiars can talk. Ms. Wardwell the ms. Satan’s familiar can talk.
@Ab62281 Booz
Well she's the mother of demons so her familiar is her child so yeah she can talkto it lol
Ab62281 Booz and
The thing is when Sabrina and Salem talk we could hear Sabrina's side of the conversation, like R2D2 in Star Wars. I don't have a problem with that though
Energy Practice familiars can talk. Do they chose to talk is the question.
Ms. Satan isn't a witch, and thus whatever that thing was probably was not technically a familiar. She was just sorta pretending it was.
If Salem talked I think it would be fine in the series. He could bring comic relief as well as a grim guide for SS.
@28a24n036r4p46q He could still talk but just not tell jokes or be scared every 5 mins like the TV show
My names Sabrina and I never heard the end of the Sabrina the teenage witch joke
Salem need talk😿😿😿😿
Still I might check it out
Lindsey Bennett familiars are from charmed
Oh yes that's right I just couldn't find the word thanks
They are called Familiar Spirits in this show. The term familiar is real and used by real witches.
Salem does have conversations with Sabrina but we are only able to hear meows and Sabrina responding to them. Which makes Familiars in this show almost come off like Pokemon.
That's not so bad then. Neat
I want like a whole episode of salem running around spying on people and then going back to Sabrina etc
Really wish sa€lom talked so we all can hear him!
Salem is so adorable. I was a kitty familiar like him.
“I was looking out for you.”
*She was trying to gain favor.*
“I went there to find you and make sure you’re okay.”
*She told Hilda she was going to stop you.* And then he washes his paw and is like, *You can do what you want with that information.* And he wanders off. 😅
Ambrose does take up a lot of the mantle of Salem, which fills that void and helps make his character more charming, but I don’t think it’s enough of that role being dispersed.
What could Salem shine a light on, something other characters would have less history with and way less one on one knowledge?
long but great comment
My familiar would deffinately be a huge raven. I love them and their energy ♥
I do Wish he does talk but he is still so cool with the way he protects her.

There is only actor who could do Salem justice.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson?
Eric Andre
No, Nick Bakay who voiced Salem in Sabrina the teenage witch
Bruce Campbell
orlock20, I don’t know who you are but a black cat voiced by Bruce Campbell sounds like a show all its own. You might be onto something 🤔
The fact that she’s wearing a David Bowie shirt makes my heart happy 🖤
Excellent cast!!
I actually like it that Salem doesn't speak out loud. I feel like the connection between a witch and their familiar is very personal, so it would only be fitting that we couldn't hear it.
They should have human/warlock as another form to Salem.
I also love that voice.
Patiently waiting for season 2 💕💯
its also fair to remember that this series was based on the Archie Comic of the same name, which was already a reimagining of "Sabrina the teenage witch" Archie Comics. There are huge differences in the Netflix series and the comic, however, so it will be interesting to sew what other changes that will make in season 2.
It would be a little goofy to have Salem talk lol. Plus it’s cute the way they have it with just Sabrina talking to him.
That David Bowie shirt makes me love Kiernan even more!
"They just had terabytes upon terabytes of cat sound effects and they had to use it."
I wish we heard him talk as well, but oh well ..
I like that Salem doesn’t talk as it adds an element of reality
I miss Salem talking.
Ok, well let's get down to this, shall we?! ☺
Salem in the 90's was a sassy and comedic familiar of Brina because the 90's Brina had sparkles and chuckles. 😍
BESIDES!! what would you rather have?! Sparkles or fire?! 😈😁
As for me, I much prefer hellfire and a beautiful warlock, along with the SEXIEST Dark Lord EVER!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Praise Satan! 😁🙏😁😂
I vaguely recall the original series where initially salam didn’t initially talk and that was later added.
He doesn't speak human...but Sabrina understands him...
And Ambrose basically a witches can understand him .I believe
Hope it talks more in the Later series Once established her own identity as a witch maybe Salem could be a rebel as well that could be why he is available to come with an unconventional summoning
Ever since this first series played...I started to notice that we been getting a lot of new cat owners bringing in their first black kittens in for their spay/neuter rabies shots..and about most of all those black kittens were named Salem 😁😁...
Sabrina is NOT the only one who can understand Salem, Ambrose understood him too
I wished Salem had more scenes
It's holiday and my country doesn't celebrate Halloween,So I watch and you know what?I want moreeeeeeeee
I LOVE THIS SHOW.......CANT WAIT FOR SEASON 2❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love this show so much
Familiars are spirits who serve the witch and give advice and guidance.
I also hope we get a backstory of Salem eventually.
So go Kiernan!
like someone on IG said , kiernan is gonna give maddy petch ( cheryl blossom aka resident ginger hotty ) a run for the money as riverdale badasss #1
SALEM broke my heart cus i want to see more of that demon /toothless version
What happened to the dog that was in the first episode
A woman I'm friends with online is allergic to cats, and so are her two daughters ... but they have cats in their home. My online friend said that as long as they bathe the cats once a week, they have no allergic reactions to them.
He doesn't have to take a lot, I just want a little more of his goblin voice here and there
I miss them😢😢😢😢
...i like that he doesn't talk...i like that he simply meows and sabrina responds as if he said a whole speach. its almost like only sabrina is meant tobhear exactly what her familiar and im perfectly okay with that. Making him talk only would have made fans constantly compare him tobthe tv show salem
Sabrina: I’m sorry.
Salem: me t-
Writers: *DON’T SAY A WORD *CAT**
Salem: * meow*
Writes: good kitty cat...
Salem: *GRRRRRRRR* * stretches writes*
Writes: I’m sorry..... HELP MEEE.
Sabrina: shame on you. Don’t mess with my cat!
😁
If Salem doesn't talk is it really worth watching?
EDIT: So I've pretty much confirmed once and for all that sarcasm doesn't always translate well online lol
yes lol
Sabrina's cousin, Ambrose is kind of a stand-in for Salem in the comedic friend part. The cat Salem is more like Snape in cat form.
Yes. And I loved old school Salem and the show, but this series is very different.
I guess so since the original tv series cast pass the torch and gave it their approval
Yes 100%
Personally this new serie is so much more interesting to me than the old shows we had. Love what they did with the Characters. I love the new badass Zelda. :o
I love silent and adorable Salem.
At first, I was hesitant to watch this show because quite frankly it spooked me. Horror movies or anything that deals with witches or demons automatically disinterests me. Glad I decided to watch the show, anyways. I'm halfway done with Season 1 and I cannot wait to finish it. The storyline is truly magical! ;-)
