My father does this with masks. and its really have been helpful since people don't need to worry about masks being too expensive. He buys the masks from the company and sells it again for cheap on a place called tokopedia. Its very popular in my country and legal. So, I think not.

Just a PSA from a small business owner: re-use packaging! Be eco-friendly! Yes the colorful bubble-mailers are cute but your customer is most likely just going to throw it away. There are also plenty of ways to make used packaging look great as well. Let's all do our part and help save the planet :)

5 Tips for a small businesses:
1. Write a letter for your customers, it seems more professional and it’s just amazing to get a hand written letter.
2. Stick to a theme, this goes for products and ty befall your website/other. Maybe you want a pastel theme and you want to sell stickers, hair ties and shirts. Then stick to that(of course you can add more items but at first start with a little bit)
3. maybe add a candy or something, a little goodie bag would be good too but it’s just nice to get a little something with your package.
4. do something out of your package and don’t just make it a plain brown box, maybe pick something white and add a sticker/other
5. don’t just resell something. Of course, buy everything you need but don’t just buy a product and sell it.

while small business are well, small, they can afford to buy goodie bags and such (which overtime once they get bigger isnt possible as they’d spend their money on the goodie bags rather then the product), and amazon is too big of a company to be able to pay for goodie bags.

I love when small businesses throw in freebies. I once ordered a gift box and two sets of stickers and pins from Literary Emporium so they gave me two more free pins and it made me so happy! I also feel like the extra care for packaging and sometimes hand-written notes really make shopping from small businesses so much more worth it!

@Angelita Ponce I guess what I'm trying to say is : I don't think that neither of those (making a lip gloss and reselling a lip gloss) require talent, but, i do think that both of those require hard work. Your comment made me upset because i thought you were saying that resellers don't work as hard as the creators of the products (which is rarely true) but anyway in my opinion resellers work just as hard as the creators of the products so let's stop making them look like some lazy people that 'steal' other people's products,because that's not what they are. Taking something that someone else has created and rebranding it so more people would buy it /find is just a business model and it requires hard work as well.. (I apologize about my bad writing, english isn't my first language)

When’s something expensive it’s not always because it’s valuable or it’s overpriced, a lot of time it’s because it costs money to get or make the item, get the supplies to ship, a lot of times to get free goodies with the order, the shipping label and the shipping cist

i have one myself, and do not be discouraged! but keep in mind that everything has a cost. Everything! packaging labeling materials and it adds up! also have a way to keep track of every penny you make and spend.

Did some quick research on these small businesses and made an conclusion, 2 types of small business:
(1) Making the actual products and selling based on time and effort put into the making process.
(2) Buying a bulk of the product and reselling it with the price that would be a little cheaper or meet the standards for the pricing.
Both ways have their own benefits and losses, but I notice that some of these small businesses like to do pretty packages. Its very aesthetically pleasing for the public view, though is it necessary? One thing I would clarify is investing on pretty packages won't help you grow business, unless your business is based on creating aesthetic packages. The consumer will rated based on how they like the item you're selling; if the product sucks, then it sucks.
Also always gather a lot of information and data when doing any type of business and plan first.
Omg the smaller handmade businesses put so much work and dedication into their packaging and all, tbh I think small businesses like this are better than the bigger ones :)

I think we all know that half of these “businesses” just buy them off of amazon or whatever and resell them at probably a higher price.
And as someone who actually runs their own small business and hustling harder than ever cuz I actually have to MAKE everything. It sucks to see these people put little to no effort into their business yet still get insanely popular.
To anyone out there wanting to start a small business, understand there is a difference between the business actually being yours ( AKA you make your products to some extent) and simply being an delivery person.
And I’m sorry (I’m not sorry) but that’s just the hard truth.
Some do some don't. That's life I guess. There's copycats and simple delivery people and hard workers and people who just can't be asked to do anything. And I'm sorry, but that's just another hard truth.

I love small businesses! They seem to put more personality into their products and if I had money I would probably purchase from them all of the time. The people who run them are so generous!
I’d rather not by makeup made in someone’s bedroom that’s random chemicals thrown together in polystyrene bowls. Or lipglosses someone’s bulk bought and packaged all pretty. No offence to anyone doing that but just make sure you do it properly and safely.

lip gloss is rather safe to make at home, if you use the right and good quality ingredients. The worst you can get is something too oily or in the wrong consistency

You could use Redbubble as a start! That’s what I use. You get paid monthly (well if you don’t sell 20$ worth in a month they keep it until you do) all you do is upload your art and they make the prints, shirts, everything!
Redbubble is a great way to start out! It costs absolutely nothing and they do all of the work for you. When I first started out I didn’t make much (still don’t tbh) but without any promo whatsoever (I’ve never told anyone my shop name of posted links online) I’ve been making about $50 a month which is nice considering I don’t have to do anything
I bought stickers from a small business on Etsy they sent me a note saying “thank you so much! We appreciate you helping are business you are on of our first orders!” And they gave me a lot of extra stickers I was happy helping them
These are so soothing. And the care and love that goes into every order, gosh.

Please inform yourself about copyright. I see many sellers (eg on etsy) make merch from movies, games etc and in the end they need to take it down, because they are being threatened with a lawsuit. Maybe look into communities or forums for small businesses ( I am for example on reddit in some subreddits for etsy sellers) and ask there for help!

To everyone giving hate to resellers... remember atleast we have the guts to start up something.
And you know what? Do this experiment: try to make your own lipgloss and tell your friend to resell some other lip gloss.... both of you will earn the same amount of money but you will put in the hard work for the same amount of money while your friend enjoys the money and all the free time they save by not actually making the product.
+You don't see independent bookstores writing all of their own books or small boutiques designing all of their own jewelry and clothing. They designate vendors for their shop and then re-sell items. The lipgloss is wholesale and those companies are counting on small businesses to buy their products. There's a difference between a small business and an independent artist.
No shade to anyone who makes their own products... I mean I have great respect for you but this is to all those ppl who give hate to resellers for no reason.
