    Andy, I am intrigued and excited about your new season. You manage to transport me to your beautiful landscape and project me into the mindset of the early peoples of the South West. It's a journey I'm glad I can join. Thank you.

    I am grateful for your channel, I had been searching for this exact genre. I know Andy shares the passion we all have for prehistoric pottery, and then some. Thanks for taking us to the warm Arizona Desert during this strange season of pandemic and political stupidity. We are all excited about season 3! My son and I have already gathered the clay we need for the ancient pottery challenge! Epic!

    Yes, I'm very excited for the new season and looking forward to giving these pots a try too. Its amazing that some of the pottery in the Mills collection looks new. It is now on my short list to visit. Thanks for your great videos, 14 minutes never went so fast.

      Thanks Wes. The secret to those pots is that Vera Mills restored many of them, adding paint to areas where pieces were missing or where the pottery was dark and stained. So many of these pots look better than they did when they were new.

    Onwards and upwards Andy! I would love to see adjustments made to your brick kiln (extend the firebox and put mouseholes in the firebox not the kiln itself), also a go at Mogollon polychrome would be great to see

      Thanks Rusty. I am planning some kiln improvements right now and I do have a video about Mogollon pottery coming up, you might be surprised what I have to say about Mogollon Polychrome.

    Aw man, I must have missed you by a few days! I went to the Mills collection this past week (Oct. 20), and took pictures of everything. It’s astonishing how much is still intact! This might be the best of the collection, I wonder how much is hidden away?

      Well, that would have been cool to run into someone who knows me while there. There are a lot of pots in the back rooms of museums, I have toured a few of them. The Maxwell, ASM, ASU, Amerind, etc.

    Your work is interesting and important, just as is the work of the Mills'. Thank you for making your videos.
    I wish I could see each piece in this collection from every angle. Some bowls are painted only on the inside. Interesting.
    What is the reason/purpose of the shoe shaped vessels? Can you send a link to a video where you explain that?

    Andy I live in Ontario Canada in the Algonquin territories. Do you know what if any ancient ceramics comes from this tribe?

    • @AncientPottery

      I don’t know much about the pottery from the eastern portion of North America. Maybe ask at a local museum. My guess would be woodland tradition which was used all over the eastern US, the Mississippi valley and the Great Plains. Check out this video by my friend Cherylene ruclips.net/video/jzlGgodgvGg/видео.html

    Andy, what are the "boot" shaped vessels in that collection? Is there a specific use for them? I've never seen that shape before. That's not saying much, however. Your channel is my first real exposure to ancient pottery.

    • @AncientPottery
      @AncientPottery  Год назад +1

      The plain boot shaped pots were used for cooking. I made one in a previous video but I should also make a video showing how they were used. Thanks

      @@AncientPottery , instruction on how to use would be fantastic! By the way, my husband is "thrilled" at my new found and growing knowledge. 😉 I'm one of those who knows a little about a lot of things and can do a smidge of almost all of that. My top strength, according to Gallup Strength Test is "Learner". As I was extolling the lessons I've learned from you so far, he asked, "Don't you have enough to do and play with already?" 😂😂...🤔..."Nope." 😁 Thank you, Andy, for knowledge that's actually useful!
