  • Dr. Meghan Elliott is a nephrologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary. She completed her internal medicine and nephrology training at the University of Calgary and a Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology with a focus in knowledge translation at the University of Toronto. She has been supported through the KRESCENT program as both a post-doctoral fellow and new investigator. Her program of research uses qualitative and mixed methodologies to understand patient care experiences and implement strategies to engage patients and providers in person-centered kidney care. Her work is supported by several funding sources, including the Kidney Foundation of Canada and CIHR.
    Learning Objectives:
    To understand shared decision making in the context of advanced chronic kidney disease.
    To review applications of patient-facing decision support in decisions about vascular access and kidney replacement therapies.
    To discuss perspectives on and barriers to implementing shared decision making in kidney care.
