    The first two mock trades are realistic (and very interesting). I would not trade any of our younger players until we know what we have got, but any player can be traded. Gretzky was traded!...As for Owen Beck, he is intelligent and seems very mature to me. He's a problem solver & can be an effective NHL player from next year.

      Well said... I think wait one more year will be more benefit

    First off---- Owen Beck. Disagree highly with Dumont. Given the opportunity Beck has the "intelligence" and hockey IQ to be a very good player sooner then that. He was the 11th Center taken in the 2022 draft behind Lambert. He has played some EXCELLENT developmental hockey in the last 2 years... WJC leader, Memorial Cup MVP, Goal Scoring Two way center that plays a 200 foot game and is second to none on Face Off Percentage
    He comes into the pro game whether it be AHL or NHL with a tighter resume then some MTL recent rookies.
    If given the "gold plated opportunity" that others got Owen Beck will be a big part of the Habs when they are a Playoff team.

      Thanks for your comment but like Joe Veleno from Detroit he was in AHL in few years to develop to get better. Beck should do the same to become better. Nothing wrong to be there one or two years. Look what happening to Mailloux. You told us for two years Seattle did a great job about Wright for his development. I think should be the same for Beck.

      @@HockeyNationLiveShow Yes Coach --- I agree with long term Development. It is MY RELIGION.... I think Beck is better then Wright and I think he should have gone way earlier in the draft. Now I have no trouble Starting him in Laval... Beck like Slafkovsky may be better in the NHL then AHL.... If he is not an immediate star in AHL that should not take the shine off him.
      BIG big believe in Beck---- I like INTELLIGENCE---- he has Suzuki like personal intelligence. Smart people find a way to succeed and they elevate in big games.... SAGINAW were beat in OHL playoffs.... in first Memorial Cup game... Then Beck WON the game for them in the FINALS.... 2 Goals 1 assist.... He has something even slafkovsky does not have ---- a BIG WINNING resume

    @DarkMatterEclipse 7 месяцев назад +1

    I heard or read somewhere that MSL had wanted Beck on the team and not sent back to the OHL. Sounds like MSL's expectations are not 4-5 years.
    Acquiring N. Roy wouldn't be a bad idea if they could make room for him.
    No trade players: Roy, Beck, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Xhekaj, Caufield, Suzuki, Slafkovsky. Ride out Dach's contract and see how it goes.
    I'm pretty open other than that.
    Trading someone like Guhle or Matheson (plus picks and/or a prospect) would require a top notch return. I think Struble has significant value.

    On the weekend, I had to read through posts flirting with the idea of trading Owen Beck or Arber Xhekaj. Really?
    This team is going through a full rebuild. The main attributes of that rebuild are commitment, patience and keeping your eye on the ultimate prize. Bob Gainey and Marc Bergevin began their tenures with that in mind but quickly succumbed to the notion that once you make the playoffs anything can happen. Apply a band aid here and there. Go for the short term quick fix.
    A team's building blocks come in all shapes and forms. Not all of them will be star players. However, molding a solid supporting cast is just as important as developing young studs like Suzuki and Slafkovsky. Posters love the idea that the Hab management team is committed to the long term development of their young prospects. Let's hope that notion holds true as the team moves forward.

  • @usdeac
    @usdeac 7 месяцев назад

    The whole point of a rebuild is to develop internally, get a bunch of prospects through draft and let them grow through the system, I don't think trading everything now is a great idea, they are not close enough to be competitive. (Making the playoffs and losing in the first round is not it) It's too early to say anything about Hutson, Roy, Mailloux or any of the other prospects.
    I agree 100% on clearing up some room on the cap, but it's not crucial, the books are lining up pretty nice with big numbers coming off the board in the next few seasons.
    The Canadiens need to win more of those close games this season, those 1 goal games, show more grit. I would not panic, stop thinking trading everything, firing everyone will solve anything, that mentality is what got us here...

    • @usdeac
      @usdeac 7 месяцев назад

      I want to comment on my comment, and I want to elaborate on what I was trying to say, is that championships are won with solid defense and great goaltending, depth at both of those positions will make a winning team a dynasty. Goal scoring is super important, but it takes more than that to make a great team, it takes depth, and the only way you get depth is by drafting and developing players.
      Blockbuster trades only happen if you have a developed roaster, guys who want to win, want to join, and players you can move. Les Canadiens ne remporteront pas la coupe l'an prochain...

    For me, Matheson for Necas is a no-brainer. Hear me out. Matheson is a great leader, but Montreal’s young core, have leadership. Suzuki is not 21, he’s the captain and he’s 25/26 this year. Depth on Left D, trade Matheson high, and take a chance on a top 9 player with speed, size and skill. Trade from position of strength.
