  • All right! Here’s part 2. But first a quick apology. The mouth does open pretty wide and I show this at the start of the video.
    I talk about the two versus four legged iterations of Spinosaurus, and then what I think you will all want to see the most... the comparisons!
    This is probably my last video before the new year, so Happy New Year to all of you!

    What a joy to have them in 1/35 and be able to appreciate all the different sizes of those wonderful creatures. Adding a 1/35 human figurine gives an even better perspective.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  6 месяцев назад +3

      It is indeed! There are probably some small discrepancy but I think the 1:35 scale fits in the realm of possibility here. Looking at the two you just realise what BS that T rex killing scene in JPIII was. 😁

    This model is truly magnificent, i was looking for a difinitive spinosaurus since i got wilson and as a guy who much more believed in the bipedal spino, even the 2020 essien was not good enough for me and follow ups like collectA and safari ltd while good, i didnt want them because i wanted a model of a size and quality that rivals my 1:35 theropod figures so all this time i was so nitpicky with spino figures and since pnso started remaking their old figures i was truly having hope for a new spino AND here it is!
    This model is so exceptional, so much variation on it's scales around the body like we saw in the first part of this review and once i saw the tiny shining hint that gave the spino a wet vibe my jaw hit the floor
    This is TRULY a museum line quality right here, i already ordered it
    I remember as a little kid liking spinosaurus a lot because of its weird head, i had a special love for animals with long snouts and ths gnarly look on their face with these sharp teeth something that slowly faded away as i truly got in the appreciation of nature as i slowly started liking all animals equally and then after my true love for extinct animals begun i almost forgot how much i loved this animal as a kid and now i am reminded of that child version of me but this time its not one of the monsters i liked back then but its the true real understanding of this *animal*

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  6 месяцев назад +1

      I am very very delighted to read your comment! It's happiness for me when people retain some loves they had as kids into adulthood. I think it keeps a foot in that innocent wonder we had as children for many things, especially the natural world. This model I daresay is the best Spinosaurus I have in terms of current 'accuracy' if such a word could ever be used for this dinosaur!
      The actual scale detail is something you have to have in hand to be believed. I am sure you have yours in hand now, and no words are adequate to describe what a masterful scupt this really is!

    I think the jury is still out on the natural stance of Spinosaurus, because we havent actually found its front hands, but mostly because if it stood upright, it would either take too much effort to keep its tail off the ground, or we may have our first ever dinosaur that drug its tail across the ground when walking.

    I really like that it came with a model of the fossil skull. If PNSO offered models of the fossils for their other dinosaurs they'd make great display sets. You could have a model of the fossil and the "in the flesh" model in front to show what it would have looked like in life.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  5 месяцев назад

      I get that. Certainly many people feel the same way. They would rather PNSO skipped the posters and all and just give us a skull of the same size and shape. We had the Triceratops, and really would welcome a lot of others. I for one hope that in their next T Rex, they give us a skull! 😁

    Es un modelo más grande de lo que yo pensé antes, realmente me encanta! Igualmente ansío ver dromesaurios de PNSO, un Achillobator estaría excelente 🤩Es más sería una gran idea que recuperaran la línea de mini figuras y ahí ingresaran a los dromeosaurios más pequeños 😯

      Es realmente desconcertante por qué la PNSO no ha escupido a los dromeosáuridos todavía. Estoy pensando que definitivamente serán más grandes que la escala 1:35 para mostrar todos los detalles de las plumas.
      La PNSO ha estado tranquila debido al CNY. ¡Veamos qué nos ofrecen a continuación!

    I know this is way too soon and this will make a lot of people annoyed by even wishing for, considering the plethora of tyrannosaurs pnso just released, but as a lover of accurate theropods I really hope one day we get a pnso tyrannosaur with lips lol. I’ve got all of the pnso tyrannosaurs on my shelf, but my ocd kicks in and my eye begins to twitch when I look at my yanchuanasaurus and Saurophaganax standing next to them now hahah. Lack of lips in this spinosaurus bothers me much less though, considering the more aquatic nature and convergence with crocodilians, even if lips are preferred.

      @@DinosDragons hahah yes, it’s certainly a “first world problem” for lack of a better term and I’m definitely nitpicking. As a collector of paleo figurines/models for well over a decade, and with the huge flux of new figures dropping every week now, I find myself constantly retiring figures within a year of getting them because I only have so much shelf space. We really are spoiled these days since companies like PNSO, BOTM, Haolongood, etc. are releasing new figures that are better than the last one and doing so at record speeds. I love progress, I just wish I could keep up sometimes hahah. Cheers, and thanks for taking the time to reply. Mostly though thank you for making these review videos, they are of exceptional quality and are a such a handy tool for collectors like myself. We couldn’t be more spoiled. Have a good day :)

    • @DinosDragons

      Hmmm I'm not sure. There are quite a few independent studios in China who actually sell such bases, or make them to order. That could be what you were looking at. Bases are sold in the West too, but the main problem is to make sure that they match your dinosaur. for example, in the types of plants on the base and whether they were around during the time of your featured model.

Figure overall is just amazing, and all the additional stuff PNSO gave make it even more premium. Megalosaurus also is superb, level of details on such a small model is incredible. • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  6 месяцев назад

      Strange I thought I replied but my answer may have been lost. Anyway, there is simply no contest here. On _every_ level. I will say that Papo deserves credit for being the first to dare to move away from the crocodilian trope at the time, and came up with a tail that was miraculously more similar to the Ibrahim paper ahead of time. Papo makes me sad to be honest. I had such high hopes for them when they released their Allosaurus.

      I will definitely try my best to continue educating myself, but really I am honest and not falsely modest when I say that compared to sauropods, hadrosaurs and sometimes ceratopsians, I am really really slack with my theropod readings. And right now I have three books I have put off reading, which I have barely touched 😪 One on dinosaur behaviour, one on dinosaurs feeding mechanics, and one on marine reptiles which I am at least making _some_ progress on!

  • @SatanenPerkele

    I believe that Spinosaurus was probably always a partially submerged aquatic dinosaur. So why would it need strong legs to walk when it could float and occasionally use it's tiny legs to "walk/push itself forward" effortlessly on the muddy bottom.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, this was indeed a strange theropod. The thing is, it still seems that many people don't entirely agree that those leg proportions are correct. If they are though, it certainly seems like an incredibly bizarre animal, one of the most strangely put together ever!

  • @shawz10

    If even the toy needs a stand to reliably stay upright, it seems to suggest the real animal wouldnt be bipedal the majority of his time out of the water.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 месяца назад

      Ah but with a toy which is an inanimate static object, that's going to be harder. A live animal with reactions, constant postural adjustments and so on is going to be able to maintain balance a lot more dynamically. This about the poses that you can get into on one foot and still be in balance, which a toy would not be able to do without a base.
      But yes it does seem to me that based on form, this dinosaur was probably not a very fast or lively animal on two legs. But you never know!
