I get the feeling that the niece didn't say what happened because it would make her and the people who helped her look bad as well as the aunt. There's something missing, but what's done is done. BTW if the owner or manager knew that the apartment was for the auntie, why wasn't the apartment placed in her name once the ability to pay was established? Also, in a lot of municipalities, no one gets evicted during the winter months unless there's illegal activity or damage to the property. There was no rent in November 🤔
