- Student training aid for the connections required when adding light to come on with another light but WHY use 3 core and CPC cable (3 core and earth).
In the video I explains the connection required within the original lighting point and the one I add that will come on at the same time. We see how 3 core and CPC cable between the 2 lighting points can be a massive advantage and allow the circuit to continue on to another room.
This method of wiring to the 3 gang switch means both the downstairs lighting circuit the landing light and outside light are all on the same fuse or MCB. This means that when you pull or operate just one fuse you will isolate all the conductor inside the 3 gang switch.

I wish you'd show 2 way switching with a twin as strappers and then double insulated singles for live and switch wire.
A lot of sparks don't get it!
An intermediate switch would throw them even more.😄
You should include a video to describe the connections between two 2gang, 2way switches controlling 2 lights with 3 cores. My house and hundreds of homes in my area have the same setup.

in my new house i have two switches in my kitchen, one is a single for the lights and the other is a double also for the same lights but with another switch on that double isn't connected and it is supposed to be for my outside pir light, the wires for them go to that double switch but they are just loose, like someone forgot to add them when they renovated and changed to metal plates do you know how i could wire the outside light up?
there is two wires going into each of the l1 and l2 and 1 wire into the common on one switch and the other is empty
Using 3 core for that purpose makes perfect sense if additional light with switch needs to be attached
From the previous videos diagram did you miss off the blue identifying sleeving from your picture? switching line to outside light and switching line from 1 gang to upstairs
