My name is Alice Barile based in the USA visual Artist. I am a nature inspired and I create my art with love and passion absolutely intuitively. I named it VERSE. But abstract painting is not what you see it’s what you want to see. Some of my viewers called it forest on fire. I think there are many names you can call it…

Hi, This is my first viewing of your work. Very beautiful! I'm about to ",dip my toe" into abstract art. I haven't tried it before, but it looks FUN AS HECK!!! I'll be signing on to a small, local gallery very soon, and want something besides the photo realism art I have now. Your tutorials will help me learn and achieve my goals. ❤

What’s the white layer put on first? I’m still learning so I was hoping to get some tips on how to begin with something like this
Hi. The first layer is Turquoise mixed with white. It’s easy to work on pre painted canvas
Okay so like gesso? I haven’t actually done my first painting yet. Just trying to learn some basic stuff
I didn’t try gesso yet. But in my experience it’s better to paint acrylic paint layer and let it dry when I work with sponge. It looks smoother

Good morning from Vegas! I am 62, and just started painting last December. Acrylics only. I have only attempted a couple of abstracts, as I found them too intimidating. However, after finding you, and this GORGEOUS piece, I am going to try again, only this time using a sea sponge (it appears that is what you are using?). I purchased a bag of them months ago but have never used them. If I am using Liquidex Basics or equivalent, do I need to water them down at all, and/or add any glazing medium? I am assuming no, but you know what they say about assuming, lol. Also, how wet should the sponge be? Thank you so very much for sharing your techniques, as well as your stunning artwork! I use sea sponge as well as car wash sponges 🧽 you can find them at Home Depot and bath sponges. It’s easy to break them in to rough pieces. I only use dry sponge. Because wet sponge picks up paint and doesn’t blend well. I would rather to spray water using bottle spray to moisturize canvas. But sponge is always dry.
About acrylic… Try to use SAX Brand you can find at Walmart online. It’s the best heavy body acrylic in my opinion. I also use Blickrylic, but the quality is not the best its too runny. But this brand has a good variety of fluorescent colors. SAX only has basic colors which I mix together to create my own colors. Sometimes I also use Amsterdam but it’s a little bit more expensive. Try SAX Brand you will not be disappointed 👍
Should the canvas I start with be white? Or a color and then paint the entire canvas white? Thanks so much!! You are very talented and this piece is truly inspiring for someone new to all of this like myself.

You can start on a white canvas. My canvas was already used and I painted over old painting.

Здравствуйте! Это обычный холст . Я его покрасила акриловой краской какая у меня была под рукой. Потому-что холст впитывает и нужно наносить больше слоев. Поэтому я его таким образом приготовила к работе

Lovely ! Amazing what you can do with a kitchen sponge! I just wish though that you had chosen different background music. I’ve heard this one so often…can’t bear it so I have to mute the sound.
Thank you very much 🌸❤️🙏 I also use car wash sponges as well, they are big so I can break it in to many pieces. About music I use RUclips musics selection , try to find something relaxing. There is no big selection, that’s why you can hear the same music in many of my videos. And yes, when you watch it many times while you painting you get tired from the same music I agree 😃

Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏 It was a used canvas I painted over. If you use a new canvas you still need the first layer to be White to be able to blend greens in there.

I've tried a few different things to get a soft, even blend, and I love the way this works with the sponge you use. Thank you.
Thank you very much Linda🌸❤️🙏 The best sponge you can find at Home Depot. It’s a car wash sponge. They sell it in bulk I believe for $8. And it’s big you can cut it in to many pieces and different shapes

Yes . Except at the end when I apply the last details starting from Red. I did not let it dry
