I started out with a Lee melting pot 30 years ago. I still use it for casting pure lead for my muzzle loader. I use the Lyman 25 lb. pot now days. Just did a video yesterday. I usually try to keep it between 700 and 800 degrees. I raised my pot high enough so I can see the lead pore. You can see how high I keep my pot in my video. I have been watching a lot of your videos and enjoy them.
Put your pot up on some cinder blocks. That is what I do with my pot while casting. When I'm done for the summer, and all cleaned up, the cinder blocks go back outside.
