Awesome! I’ve used el cheapos for years but came across one of these BARELY used for 20 bucks at a yard sale the other day... super awesome. Now I’m just trying to learn how to use it lol
I short the leads on my fluke 179 set to mv ac and is shows 0.5 after waiting about 15-20 seconds is this normal? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys 😊
Yeah not sure why some are green and some aren't maybe it's an older one I called a fluke to ask and they confirmed that all the ones they are selling now have the LED back light.
The Fluke 87v is better for small circuitboard level electronics. It can measure in the uA range and has 0.05% dc accuracy as opposed to 0.09% in the 179. The difference in accuracy is negligible for most people, but that uA range is crucial for some people working circuit level electronics.
My 179 has a green backlight. I've also had it for 20 years. They obviously updated the backlight over the years.
Mine has a greenlight too I think deff changed it newer model. I like the green :)
Well, obviously they did golbert, after all that time, sumthin bound to change? Mine is red
I found one basically new online for $100. Very excited to put this bad boy to work.
Mine has a green backlight, but I assume it is because yours is newer, I've had mine for around 10 years.
Best meter hands down
Green back light indicates a really old version they switched to the white backlight a while ago.
Good info Wally, thanks
It might help when showing how accurate the capacitance reading is if you let us know what the value of the cap was you were testing.
Excellent point thank you
Wow it measures uF? Is that like an ESR?

Wow bargain
Yeah, big bargain. They can be over $400.
There is another temperature sensor inside, try temperature function and short the probes.
Can I connect the i400 amp clamp? And does it check mega ohms
Yes to both
Great Meter. I have the Same one.
Hi.
Why does Fluke 179 multimeter have 2 types of screens?
Why do some have green light and some have white light?
One of the mysteries of the universe pumas?
I believe green light is on the older models.
Please help me my multimeter is mixed on I removed the 9v battery. thank you
My 179 has a green backlight
Get the fluke y8101 amp clamp to go with it
Yeah I was but I got the fluke T6 600 been pretty happy with it.

I'd get some new leads
Leads or contact points, not the meter😊
FLUKE Meter is and will always be standard OF EXCELLENCE
Careful of the stand because it snaps off.
Ham fisted much?
Mine has a green light not white
It does look a little greenish
Says the Irish guy! 😆✌
No mine is a newer 179 and the backlight is green…
Turn up your gain dude! Hard to hear! Sheesh this guy 😂
Mine has a green backlight
See I've seen some boxes that makes it look that way I called fluke and asked before I bought it maybe yours is an older one.
My back light is green.

That makes since. Mine is older for sure👍

I watched this. I learned......Nothing!
Wasn't an educational video....
