Great too see the South Island......I am k1w1 & have never explored the South Island so you guys have made me think...maybe I should. Always fun to watch your vids, I will be sad when you guys leave this beautiful country.
I remember when that road was an unsealed gravel road. One time I didn't close the boot properly and loads of dust got in. I can laugh over it today but didn't when it happened lol.
Not grumpy. It's called experience. French and sorry Mado, German tourists, some, have given their countries a bad name with their disrespect, rule ignorance. We've lost many freedom camping spots because of them. Rubbish dumped. Toilet paper and waste everywhere. Disgusting.
That milk tanker and trailer unit is from Westland dairy Co. and picks up the milk daily from Dairy farms in the area and transports it to the factory at Hokitika
Make sure you visit Hokitika, that’s where you might happen upon some gold in the river! Also where the novel, The Luminaries, is set. Further up the west coast, the old Denniston coal mine is a must see too.
should do roadtrip from milford sound up to Haast its beautiful drive nice blue rivers. also check out Lake Tekapo West Coast is beautiful and very secluded
Glen ya look like an old nana driving with ya seat that close to the steering wheel 😁 Oh yes love the sea, knights point is a great spot for free diving, crayfish, paua & fishing 👌 Cheers guys
Try the white bait it’s amazing 👍but sadly not cheap anymore U will find pictures of it washing up on the beaches there and people taking barrow loads home to use as fertiliser on there gardens
GLEN, You need some Sun on the rest of your body. Just look at your arms.. so brown.. Living the good life. The weather in New Zealand is very good around. Thank you for showing your videos. 1st class. Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
We always stayed in Fox Glacier rather than Franz Joseph - I think Fox was the more spectacular glacier (the walk to the glacier is before you get to the village), but neither of them are that impressive anymore, sadly - they've retreated a long way up the valleys now.
🤣 the sandflies are annoying as hell on the West Coast. The west coast is a beech forest and sandflies live in the beech I think. I hate them but it is best to ignore them and just accept you're going to get bitten.
Glen I dont know how you can be comfortable sitting so far forward close to the steering wheel ? I would find it so awkward not being able to straighten my arms while driving. Each to their own I guess.......love the videos though!!!!
Yes , I told them about equal measures of baby oil mixed with Dettol , keeps them away , but Glen thought it would be too toxic , probably more toxic that sandflie poison ! You can't tell some people ! Enjoy the bites .
@@petegibson863 anything used on a baby nowadays is not toxic. Johnsons baby powder was pulled up yrs ago for toxicity, but now improved, but I still wouldn't use it. There are other pure ones to buy now. Even the baby lotion is good to use, if not the oil.
Me and my Fiance are moving to NZ in October and your videos are getting me more and more excited every day!
awesome guys love it! hope it helps out and makes your journey easier :)
The West coast is my favourite place in NZ, yes it has enormous amounts of rain, but thats what makes it what it is.
Mado has the most beautiful smile lights up her whole face
I appreciate you showing us these beautiful little gems come rain or shine or rainbows!
I lived in Haast for 7yrs in the 90's. Loved every minute of it, wet or dry,. It's one of the few untouched wilderness areas you can get up close to.
I love Haast. There's absolutely nothing there except trees and it's always raining. Paradise.

"Arghhh they're after me !"

window Glen". 😁

Magnificent west coast ... it's autumn now so expect some rain :) gorgeous
Such a gorgeous part of our NZ 👍🙌
LOL, you guys look like you're having fun - even chatting with the (grumpy) Kiwi locals 😉

Mostly to wear at west coast are Shouthland Slippers(Gummies). Its my experience.
That milk tanker and trailer unit is from Westland dairy Co. and picks up the milk daily from Dairy farms in the area and transports it to the factory at Hokitika
I swam in the blue pools in my birthday suite.
Beautiful country Newziland 🇦🇺
I recall that cafe in Haast very clearly... hopefully they are more friendly these days =)
I always buy eggs onthe side of the street😂😂😂loveit

that should be our next video actually but never looked for gold unfortunately!
I call the West Coast - the last wild frontier. Its becoming more and more popular because of it

Im gonna miss your nz vids when u leave
Dude you need to have some whitebait patties, it's a NZ classic dish.
The main attraction at the blue pools is to jump off the bridge into the pools
Beautiful ❤
make sure you trek the Hokitika gorge walk when you get there !
Make sure you have a whitebait fritter while you are down there.
Glen ya look like an old nana driving with ya seat that close to the steering wheel 😁

"Maybe something warm"? "- They have ice cream".

Hey guys, the video was Good as Gold. hehe

The weather is hard on homes on the west coast as you can see, plus I am not sure how much employment there is some small towns so people are poorer.

Been to that salmon farm, a complete rip off and food in the cafe is below par.
Not Glen O'Brien is it? Keith's brother?
Harst Glen 😊
Doesn't really work with the Irish accent. Might be better to say it rhymes with "past".
Maddo should know the word. Haast is German ...no ?
@@harrycurrie9664 Julius Von Haast was from Bonn, so yes
Hi mado
Whataroa. Wh is pronounced as an F so it is Far-ta-roa
Hahaha nothing better than being stuck in a sheep or cow traffic jam lol

No-one else has done it, so I will. It's pronounced Haast (Har-st)
what was wrong with your car? why did u rent a car if u own one appropriate for travelling? just curious
Only 2 seats in the car but 3 people 😅
an early model toyota wish is not good for off-road, they were preparing for rough driving, as said at 2:25
A Ukrainian a German and a Irish man walks into a west coast pub
And the Irishman says "How ya doin', you well ?.
earlyyyyyy

Jesus I don’t know either 😂
Sandflies hate baby oil so make sure you have some with you
For real? This is a good tip
I will pass that tip on to my wife .They love her!
Yeah, they stick to it.
