    I try not to impulse buy too many "big” games (I sometimes fail), but I buy small box/card games at the drop of a hat. I'll give away a big game to someone who likes it more than me, but my wicker baskets stuffed with card games will always stay full even if I haven't played some of them in years. Like your Tiny Epic collection, they just make me happy, some of them were my first purchases decades (yes, decades) ago and having them around just brings me a small joy, and sometimes that's worth the price of shelf-space. Fun video!

      Thanks! Those small box games are much harder to part with!

    My husband is definitely my Billie - I even got him a No Spoons shirt he enjoys wearing! Large collection increases anxiety because I don’t like clutter. If I had the space a large collection would not bother me.

      If I had a bigger space, I might not make Billie get rid of as many 😀 I definitely agree about the clutter!

    We just culled Root, Spirit Island, 7th Continent, and Summoner Wars. We are never going to get them to the table again. Not with the sheer number of games we own that we love. In every case these are games we really wanted to love, but don’t for whatever reason.
    We would be interested in looking at what you are getting rid of. We have at least 4 open spots on our shelves. 😊

      There are a lot of games we feel like we SHOULD like, but they just didn't work for us. Those are hard to part with

    I have about 100 games, 20 unplayed and 18 in trade, the ones i can't trade will be sold. I enjoy culling my collection as much as getting new games. Among others, i'm culling Septima, Cascadia, Aquatica, Shards of infinity, Familiar tales and Star Wars outer rim. I already culled Radland and Ganymed xD I'm trying to get Dinosaur World or Island.

    • @SecondStartotheLeft
      @SecondStartotheLeft  10 месяцев назад +1

      I always feel better after we've culled the games. Interesting you culled Septima. We just got our copy!

    Wait… send away to a farm…is there an actual farm like how you have a beach house…or does it mean the game will go like how dogs get sent to a farm???? 😮

    We just culled about 20 games from our collection. Only 16 were passed on - the rest were salvaged for parts so I totally support the keeping of the minis from Familiar Tales. Cute components trump culling.

      I am definitely guilty of keeping some for parts! 🤣

    *Types Frantically*
    If you guys have TTS or want to buy the digital version (I have it), setup a time and I'll teach you Spirit Island. Once you learn it's really easy to play and it's amazing!
    But if you try to teach yourself, you'll be here for hours.

    I have gotten rid of quite a few in the last few months. Ark Nova, literally bought into the hype and realized I had no interest in it, even with people all being obsessed with it. I also culled Quacks, after upgrading it all. Oops 😅. Brass: Birmingham I finally let go of, because it was just NEVER going to get played in my house, and I don’t have a game group. I’m also working on selling some, and have given others away.
    To answer your question though, I go through ups and downs of anxiousness and excitement, but definitely feel both. I would have to say I tend to lean more on the excitement side. It just depends on my time and energy to learn a new game.

    Dinosaur world is physically a lot, but it isn’t hard to learn/play :) but it is longer than expected. Make sure you add in the corrections!

    I’m so confused! What do you mean by spoons? 😂

    • @SecondStartotheLeft
      @SecondStartotheLeft  3 месяца назад

      It's a way of describing how much mental energy you have at the time. So if you're out of spoons, you just can't process complicated games.

    I totally agree, it’s easier to play and really enjoy it when you’ve curated your collection a bit! this last two months we’ve just been playing old favourites and it’s been such a joy!
    I’ve sent a lot (like 50) to other homes recently, so now I’m just sending the ones I want outta my head to the upstairs closet instead of the living room shelves and that helps! and I’ll go ‘shopping’ up there if I get board (sent Trickerion, Empires of the Void 2, Summit and the Night Cage up there) 🤪 xox

    • @SecondStartotheLeft
      @SecondStartotheLeft  10 месяцев назад +1

      Wow! 50 is a lot! But I like the idea of "shopping" from the other room 😀

    Radlands is a must-keep in our house, because my wife loves destroying me, and I love trying to prevent her from doing so. I want a couple of expansions for this. That being said, if it's not a game that you're driven to play by virtue of the game itself then don't feel like you need to own it for whatever reason. There will be more games next year! Or whatever, keep it. I don't know?

    • @SecondStartotheLeft
      @SecondStartotheLeft  10 месяцев назад +1

      I'd keep more if we had more space. But we need to keep it from piling up every where. One of our copies of Redlands stayed. Billie is still arguing which one!

    I recently got ahold of the Kickstarter Dinosaur World and 3 expansions. The dinosaur meeples are so so cool! I love playing the game solo. It is a lot of pieces but I’m so glad I finally got it. Billy is totally right about not culling it.

    I'm easily overwhelmed and cannot remember too many rules, so I'm trying to keep my collection under 100 - perhaps someday I'll be able to get it lower. I admire your culling ferocity!
