- We may be enjoying the sun here in the UK, but the climate crisis is turning the heat up across the world. And it can be deadly. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News...)
This year has already seen heat records repeatedly broken.
Climate scientists say that by the end of this decade, almost all countries will experience "extreme hot" weather every other year.
In India, they have experienced the hottest March ever and temperatures there have exceeded a record breaking 49 degrees Celsius.
Staying alive in that heat without pumping more fossil fuels into the atmosphere is one of the biggest challenges facing our futures.

I’ve experienced this kind of heat for several hours. You can literally feel your organs working in tandem with your heart. Pushing sweat from your pours and immediately the air cools it for a few seconds before it evaporates. This repeats in of seconds. You better have a large quantity of drinking water, because you won’t even be able to urinate. It’s going to be filtered right there near your sweat glands, which deposits waste materials onto the surface of your skin. (This is why we have body odor)
If high temperatures continue for longer periods of time, the body organs begin to fatigue and the workloads are reduced. At that point your risk for cardiac arrest, or other major organs failing escalate very quickly!

I been just 3 days in 30-34 celcius heat and normally when I drink a large glass of water I immediately need to go to the toilet because I got weak bladder. But for the last 3 days I have been drinking a large cup of water, same as I normally do, and I don't go to the toilet for the whole day and literally have to force myself to go at the end of the day before bed. I think im experiencing some of what you describe.

@@BlackMamba-lt8oe it is, but your body is still supposed to create waste. That’s why you have do eventually have to pee when you drink water. Water being filtered through your body cleans your blood and helps your organs and muscles to stay hydrated and clean too. The filtration is going all through your kidneys. If your kidneys aren’t able to use that water to process your waste to then pee it out, you can develop a toxicity. That can then poison yourself and/or cause kidneys to malfunction and then could lead to failure.
I feel bad for the countless animals that are also suffering in this heat.

There’s already climate refugees from Central America immigrating to the US. One of the often overlooked reasons for the Syrian civil war was the crops failing due to climate change forcing farmers to immigrate to cities causing conflict. Europe will have to deal with climate refugees from more places in Africa and the Middle East in the future.
True there's a few small islands affected by rising sea levels already, but until mass migration happens, politicians will continue to talk about growth & stimulating consumer spending.

I don't know much about other regions, but Delhi is VERY green. In fact, travelling in Delhi would feel like half of it is just trees.

I have a sense that the amount of change required to keep us alive may not exist. Then we will not exist.
A lot can actually be done if we were to fix our soil and erosion problem. It’s a lot to explain, but in short it would significantly help with temperatures, food production and food nutrition, weather, and rising CO2 levels

One of the most important changes society can make is ditching pessimism. It says more about us as individuals than the situation, and it just creates a culture of apathy and hopelessness.
I don't say this to be nasty. Climate change evokes a lot of uncertainty; and negative feelings like anxiety or depression is quite common, but we are not there yet and keeping a strong and positive outlook as a society is key to success.
Over the last few years the overall global attitude towards climate change has changed significantly and efforts are continuously growing worldwide.
It is hard work though and we need to support each other and maintain morale.
This video is about adaptation and the serious measures that need to be implemented in order to protect those already suffering with rising temperatures.
It is important to consistently support alternative innovations and collectively champion those already suffering.
Many scientists reckon we have maximum 10 years before we are completely doomed, we are seeing the clear sighns now that’s a fact, pessimism or positively has nothing to do about the facts.

The scientific community isn't typically known for being wishful dreamers (in fact a few short years ago they were considered the social doomsayers), and they don't usually like to agree with each other either so a consensus is meaningful. The facts are available in the public domain and I think we're all 'aware' at this point right? The scientists are even fed up of talking about the science. So it is definitely about outlook. It's a human induced problem and humans can fix it. It's a question of *will* we and that is absolutely about having the right attitude.
Big business is getting on board, the general public support it and are adopting greener lifestyles, the media are seriously reporting it. When it comes to climate, the social outlook has come on leaps and bounds when compared to just five years ago. At that time I was dubious about our future myself, but people are really understanding and trying now and these changes deserve acknowledgment.
A country like India that has an abundance of sunshine should never suffer from power blackouts. The solar energy generation potential is immense.

@@Aashu299 The cost of photovoltaic cells has fallen dramatically in the last few years which makes solar the most widely accessible source of renewable energy. Storing that energy on a large scale is still difficult but progress is being made. Going forward it is clear that the long-term costs of not investing in renewables will far outweigh the short-term savings of burning fossil fuels.

I wrote an essay on this exact subject
30 years ago describing the world effects of Global Warming but in particular how it would affect India .
Believe me , I am sad to say it but things are only going to get much worst and even at the time of writing that essay the ignorance and negligence of commercially advanced nations hurt me knowing that they were blind to the suffering that their lifestyles would inflict upon nations like India already located in much warmer areas of the Globe . I have a special love for India and you will always be in my prayers 🙏

Even 30 years ago it was like witnessing an Apocalypse in my mind knowing how the people of India and other countries closer to the equator were going to suffer and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it in reality ! 30 years ago Nobody was listening to concerns about Climate Change let alone doing something about it !! Governments are still not doing enough about it today even ! So yes , sadly it is going to get a lot worst and the idea of that suffering for some nations still fills my heart with regret !

I live in Assam, India and I haven’t seen temps exceeding above 30 degree Celsius past 3 months . Heatwave has affected some regions in india but not the whole country.

I agree - some naive people say, go to Greenland, lots of cold and plenty of space (I am a Dane, and has visited Greenland). But even up there it is getting warmer, the ice is melting and in winter, you need to consume energy to have heat. How to get up there ? Or around? Helicoptors or planes are the only option on long distances. On shorter, you may take a boat. In cities, cars or snowmobiles, all energyconsuming. Climatefriendly kayaks or dogsleighs are not used by very many.

Also, crucial as the climate crisis is, we have solutions for all of the emissions sources. We just have to apply them swiftly, boldly, and consistently.
All of us, including India need to ensure a global build out of the Six carbon clean energy sources of solar, wind, hydro (including tidal), nuclear, bioenergy, and geothermal, with energy storage systems as we electrify everything while also phasing out first coal and then fossil gas power. That's a financially viable way to knock out over half of all greenhouse gas emissions.
Nuclear don't work, if it goes wrong radioactive material goes into the air and the land around near the area the plant is unusable

With a population over One Billion and a high percent of this population is in Poverty there is not enough money in that country for people to be able to live in decent homes. With Air Conditioning costing as much as it does there are no easy solution. This video shows millions of homes and commercial buildings stacked close together with metal roofs on a lot of them, this all generates heat. If homes were separated with Green belts between the clusters of homes it would help a lot to keep the heat tolerable. but that will not happen.
There simply isn’t enough room for green spaces or green rows between houses. India is battling their own population! There comes a point where people are so closely packed together, whether it’s the heat or disease, nature will deal with it.

There's a simple natural solution, just plant tree on the roof, on the side of the house, wherever possible, however small or large, it will make huge different on temperature. A mango tree and a jackfruit tree grew fast on the north east side of my house and covered my first floor bedroom, where it was to be exposed to sun even two years ago(trees were small). Summer time without AC bedroom was intolerable hot; but now, this year, even during very high temperature, I didn't have to use AC, more then one two hours, whereas previously before the tree grew, I had to use AC for five six hours. Even few medium plant on the south side of my first floor barandha made me feel cooler then previous years. This proofs trees and plants cools the temperature.

Could this extreme weather we have now be a "whiplash" from coming out of covid restrictions? When most travel and business was cut back in 2020, the skies were clear around places where heavy air pollution was normal.

Wet/humid heat and dry heat are very different (for a human that is) and so is humid cold and dry cold... It's 35c here at the moment and in most countries that would really nice. But it's so humid and my own body 37c temperature can really cool me down... And I'm really squeamish as I live in a country that is way up north (but besides the coast), and I like around 13-15c best...
Have been to dry non-humid countries and then I can tolerate almost 10c more because my sweat can cool me down somewhat... but when sweat does not do the trick... it's though...

Population growth has declined considerably thankfully in India with the latest numbers showing pop growth falling below replacement rate. Although 2 child policy is necessary in few northern poor states and for a few communities also otherwise most of the middle class people belonging to the majority communuty are already having low fertility rates only and demographic changes are starting to be seen
In North-east India we don't faced any heat waves yet also moreover we're receiving heavy rainfall with quite pleasant weather some places even under floods in NE India so it means that not whole of India is facing heat waves.

Im filipino i remember 7 years back in saudi actually it was in al qazzim..we were instaling cladding that time it was actually outside the building i can still remember the heat it was 54 degree my goodness..we decided to stop work for a while and do the job again at 5 pm..that was so hot extremely Hottest day ever...

I hade gone to Mecca for Umra'. It was 45-48 degrees. However it's tolerable as it's a desert kind of heat. Can't imagine that temperature with 80-90% humidity like in India or in Japan.

If I want to know the news about slums of India I watch western news channels. They have keen focus of slums. They derive a sadistic pleasure showcasing them.
Too many cars ,and planes choking up the roads ,and in the skies..this planet has near been ruined in the last 5O yrs in the UK.
If those environmental negative gas emit industry bring people to live in such slum area, they should be fined unless they manage cooling living for them and work in their factory.
