Mathew, your integrity is unquestionable as demonstrated in your humble position and collaboration, not only on building Ras Kitchen, but in producing it. Never doubt that you have a future in doing what you do. It has been an enjoyable journey seeing you and that channel evolve. There is little doubt that you are bigger than what you have created and your talents in these types of productions is obviously positive and it was easy to see through your works where the talent was. Your camera work is excellent as is your editing and music work. The best evidence is in the increased quality you brought to each continuing episode. I do have to be honest and admit that your food work outside of Ras was your best and I am so looking forward to your new expansion of your talents. You sir are the food traveling producer that makes so many want to experience your experiences. God bless.
About two years ago while my wife was in the final months of her life she loved this show..I would occasionally watch it with her and we both enjoyed it very much..There was a chemistry in this cast of people that worked prrfect ,one i dont think can be replicated or duplicated.A continues learning from elder to youth about living without fancy and finding joy and beauty in nature while discovering the joy of cusine from nature..Thank all of you for providing my wife with a home away from home in her final days.
There is 3 sides to a story. Mathew should have had a discourse on camera with Mocko for the audience. Instead he made a 3 min video painting his narrative to make himself look good. And he continues to profit off the content Mokko made on this channel, & the foundation of what Mokko made this channel.
Wow, sad situation. I have followed you and Ras Moko for years and lived vicariously through you and your epic adventures. As a Bahamian with Jamaican roots, I'm a real foodie and was very proud of the huge progress of Ras Moko and there's no doubt that you were the catalyst that propelled him. Jealousy is a serious thing and heard the horror stories of what Bob Marley and other artists have gone through. There are also the horrific stories of Jamaicans who returned home tried to reestablish their lives and build businesses while helping the community and were murdered in còld blood. Things must change.

This saying although unfortunately still used in Jamaica is as a result of slavery where slaves were treated based on skin colour, the darker skin slaves work in the fields with very bad treatment. The lighter skin slaves were house slaves with better treatment. It is people to stop carry one these evil saying and discard them. Stop sterotype people base on skin colour.

I was not expecting this. I've been watching for years. It became a part of my life. I was hoping you were going to say, the rumors aren't true and Ras Kitchen continues. The first thought I had after realizing this is real is thinking about Mokko's mental health and wondering if he developing early dementia for him to start tripping like this. This is so unfortunate. You did a phenomenal job building this channel. The content was beyond awesome, and the relationship to the family and Moko was so powerful. You vlog in a respectful way. I'm sure Mokko will not only never meet another Matthew but he will also be looking at a rapid decline in his operation without Matt's support. People all over the world are now aware of the issue and will stay away just so they are not part of any ongoing issues.

I don’t know either one but Matt looks like stand up guy. I live in Florida and happen to know a couple of Jamaicans from that area and they don’t talk very highly of Mokko. I take that with a salt of grain because I don’t know Mokko so I can’t judge. Matt has a future ahead of him either way. They are both big boys love life goes on.
Matt had the advantage, and he took advantage. This is what happens when western people think they are “helping” foreigners on other lands Mathew is a lazy, useless, idealistic westerner that saw an opportunity for himself. There was enough plausible deniability on Mathew’s side, but he should have double checked everything was done ethically. You can blame the daughter but that’s how Mathew gets away with it. Just because he press the send button on the money doesn’t mean he can just say it’s not up to him now.
Matt I've been one of the day one watchers, and the truth is we've all seen some of the lukewarm and tense situations you've pushed through to make some of those videos. Mokko has had people in his ears for a long time. I remember the first videos when Mokko used to use briefs to wrap his hair in the old broken down kitchen, and if you weren't doing anything for him, he wouldn't be where he is now. The reality is, you've improved all their lives drastically, and brought us great content over the years. You're a good person. Don't allow the negativity to affect the heart you have. Keep pushing man, there are greater things in store. Respect.

Since you want to make it about black people sticking together, let me ask you this. Who was helping Mokko before Matthew decided to come along and change not only his life but the life of his entire family? Since to you everything is black and white, when he was living in squalor, who stepped up to help him? Not everything in life is about race because people who think so one-sided, will encourage the breakdown of anything positive and in the end will not lift a finger afterwards to help the situation of the person who is foolish enough to listen to their close-minded advice. For the people who have good judgment, it's obvious Matthew wanted to form genuine relationships with them, and he wanted to keep these relationships for life. They were family to him. A good person is a good person no matter what skin colour they have.

Very bad news, I loved this content - You, Mokko, Ratty, Dorothy, Coppy were like my own family members, you were here during my hardest times, watching the videos helped me to deal with my problems and to heal my drug addiction and depression, it was the best channel for me and for many of my friends. I'm a born Jamaican, living in Toronto 🇨🇦 since i was a child. I was happy to have come across the channel. It was truly refreshing and informative. I enjoyed learning more about the island, the food, cooking, and how others lived. The dynamic between you and Mokko flowed well. It's unfortunate , it obvious people got into his ears and he threw his 10 yrs investment out the window....just like that. I will never forget all the lessons I learned here about plants, birds, soups, religion, drinks and life in Jamaica. And the spliff chats and especially the chats about _duppies_ . It’s so sad that it ended like this, but I’d rather not watch Mokko’s decline. I’m gonna miss the family so much, especially Ratty.

It's sad to say, but I knew this would happen one day. I am Jamaican and I can tell you that nobody on this planet is more entitled than a poor Jamaican. If you know Bawda Cat and Drizzy situation then that is a prime example. If it wasn't for Matt there would be no Ras Moco and vise versa! For sure! I noticed Moco had some resentment towards people in town who recognized him. Not like the "I dont want to be famous I just want my privacy" vibe, but like he felt that the people recognizing him meant they were after what he had. Like anyone who was a fan of his secretly just wanted his money. Felt bad for him when I saw that and Id imagine there was a lot of gaslighting from people in the community.

I am so glad you spoke about what is going on. As a black female I had visited Jamaica 13 times the people are pleasant but very beggy . You had been so kind to have Ras benefiting from your filming in Jamaica at his place and yet he has the audacity to talk you down that's not right I'm glad you cut him off I would too people like that you can't trust no more. You have visited Jamaica enough times that you can now do your own thing Ras is not hurting no one but himself. My ex jamaican husband did that to me too they go around telling lies when things don't go their way to destroy you. Jamaicans that have never left yard have absolutely NO idea about finances and are completely deluded about how much money foreign people have, they disregard the efforts of those who try to help them and a combination of bad mind, greed and naiveté ruins most relationships between the people who try to help and great cost to ourselves and the locals who end up as they were with no ability to help themselves. This is true for returnees and non nationals (like me) it hold Jamaica back and I have no idea how to overcome it. At first one has heaps of good will and enthusiasm and then Jamaica sucks the life out of you and you start to think- OK stuff you! There are exploiters out there for sure but the thing is you have to use your humanity and realize that not everyone is dishonest!

This is incredibly sad!! The Jamaican society has this disease known locally as "bad minded" better known as jealousy. It's a shame that ignorance has come between a program that I've watched you both built from scratch, and to watch it all come to an end like this, is truly a disappointment. But I won't say I am surprised by this though, because as the program grew, it was always something that I feared would ultimately happened due to bad minded people and jealousy. I hope their happy now, now that they have taken away food from Moko's mouth. Matthew, all the best to you and Moko!!

Mathew this is very sad I almost cried, Jamaica holds a huge place in my heart and is one of the places I plan to visit one day soon and staying on mokkos yard as well as the other places you have shown. Ras kitchen is very peaceful to listen to when you need to unwind and always has such beautiful vibes and beautiful videography even the edits and the reggae songs and dubs are amazing. Your channel in general has taught so many people about true Jamaican culture and even important herbs and holistic remedies. It's wild because in a way I feel like I know you, mokko even watching ratty grow up. Man this is really disappointing. This channel was a real outlet for me to just be inspired by positive energy, interesting stories, and learning new things. It was sorta like a discovery channel show but for real. No filters or corporate overtones. It’s true these things happen in life. It just hurts when good things end. As a fellow Jamaican, some of us do suffer from an envious mindset, I'm sure it must have been others who have seen his growth and have sown lies in his mind and brain washed him. I’m so sorry to hear this Matthew, the one who’s really going to suffer is Rat-Rat. It’s a shame that he loses another adult male figure in his life, your relationship with Ratty is inspiring and absolutely beautiful to watch. I watched him grow from an infant to the young man farmer that he is today. If you read this Ratty, understand man, it’s nothing to do with you, adults are human too bud. I do understand that Matthew is there somewhat infrequently, but there’s no mistaking the gleam in Rattys eye when they’re together and Ratty always wants to show Matthew his latest moves and his muscles lol. What people smoke nowadays just isn't healthy. All these weird strains with super high THC content is causing all kinds of mental issues globally. I too defended weed and still do but one has to be realistic. Smoking 24/7 is not healthy for anyone.

This is a good lesson for all people from rich countries who meet these poor people and think that they are pure and spiritually superior. I have worked in tourism and have seen this happening so many times. You give an opportunity to someone who was in a situation of abandon or poverty and as fast as this person recovers he starts to want more. You know, I really believe they can salvage this. I really do. I don’t think one can really survive without the other because it’s the symbiotic nature of their relationship that makes the channel work; Matthew beautifully captures the essence of the people, their environment & their relationships with one another. We watch because we like the people & the way they live. The issue here is a lack of clarity regarding financial compensation. In the beginning of their 10 year relationship, this was only a vision. Now it has grown into something big with big money involved… they need to now draw up proper terms & conditions with greater transparency regarding earnings & costs. I believe Matthew when he says great things were on the horizon, because he was always the visionary. It would be a shame to lose that. A real shame 😔

About two years ago while my wife was in the final months of her life she loved this show..I would occasionally watch it with her and we both enjoyed it very much..There was a chemistry in this cast of people that worked prrfect ,one i dont think can be replicated or duplicated.A continues learning from elder to youth about living without fancy and finding joy and beauty in nature while discovering the joy of cusine from nature..Thank all of you for providing my wife with a home away from home in her final days.

Wow, sad situation. I have followed you and Ras Moko for years and lived vicariously through you and your epic adventures. As a Bahamian with Jamaican roots, I'm a real foodie and was very proud of the huge progress of Ras Moko and there's no doubt that you were the catalyst that propelled him. Jealousy is a serious thing and heard the horror stories of what Bob Marley and other artists have gone through. There are also the horrific stories of Jamaicans who returned home tried to reestablish their lives and build businesses while helping the community and were murdered in còld blood. Things must change.

Matt I've been one of the day one watchers, and the truth is we've all seen some of the lukewarm and tense situations you've pushed through to make some of those videos. Mokko has had people in his ears for a long time. I remember the first videos when Mokko used to use briefs to wrap his hair in the old broken down kitchen, and if you weren't doing anything for him, he wouldn't be where he is now. The reality is, you've improved all their lives drastically, and brought us great content over the years. You're a good person. Don't allow the negativity to affect the heart you have. Keep pushing man, there are greater things in store. Respect.

For the people who have good judgment, it's obvious Matthew wanted to form genuine relationships with them, and he wanted to keep these relationships for life. They were family to him. I enjoyed learning more about the island, the food, cooking, and how others lived. The dynamic between you and Mokko flowed well. I can tell you that its the same villagers or neighbors (who themselves are envious of Moco) who ARE THE SAME ONES who corrupted Moco's mind against Matt. For sure! I noticed Moco had some resentment towards people in town who recognized him. Not like the "I dont want to be famous I just want my privacy" vibe, but like he felt that the people recognizing him meant they were after what he had. Like anyone who was a fan of his secretly just wanted his money. Felt bad for him when I saw that and Id imagine there was a lot of gaslighting from people in the community.

I am so glad you spoke about what is going on. As a black female I had visited Jamaica 13 times the people are pleasant but very beggy . You had been so kind to have Ras benefiting from your filming in Jamaica at his place and yet he has the audacity to talk you down that's not right I'm glad you cut him off I would too people like that you can't trust no more. You have visited Jamaica enough times that you can now do your own thing Ras is not hurting no one but himself. My ex jamaican husband did that to me too they go around telling lies when things don't go their way to destroy you. Check to see if you can still use the film and get paid for it your self and if so go for it otherwise delete it and start again....Jamaica no problem.

Jamaicans that have never left yard have absolutely NO idea about finances and are completely deluded about how much money foreign people have, they disregard the efforts of those who try to help them and a combination of bad mind, greed and naiveté ruins most relationships between the people who try to help and great cost to ourselves and the locals who end up as they were with no ability to help themselves. This is true for returnees and non nationals (like me) it hold Jamaica back and I have no idea how to overcome it. At first one has heaps of good will and enthusiasm and then Jamaica sucks the life out of you and you start to think- OK stuff you! There are exploiters out there for sure but the thing is you have to use your humanity and realize that not everyone is dishonest!

This really sucks, I haven't really watched in a long time and was concerned when I recently noticed the lack of mokko I am glad he is ok and sad that you have to change your content but will always appreciate the content that you have given us with mokko and will always make Jamaican scrambled eggs.
This is incredibly sad!! The Jamaican society has this disease known locally as "bad minded" better known as jealousy. It's a shame that ignorance has come between a program that I've watched you both built from scratch, and to watch it all come to an end like this, is truly a disappointment. But I won't say I am surprised by this though, because as the program grew, it was always something that I feared would ultimately happened due to bad minded people and jealousy. Mathew this is very sad I almost cried, Jamaica holds a huge place in my heart and is one of the places I plan to visit one day soon and staying on mokkos yard as well as the other places you have shown. Ras kitchen is very peaceful to listen to when you need to unwind and always has such beautiful vibes and beautiful videography even the edits and the reggae songs and dubs are amazing. Your channel in general has taught so many people about true Jamaican culture and even important herbs and holistic remedies. It's wild because in a way I feel like I know you, mokko even watching ratty grow up. This is something special and I believe the enemy is messing with mokko to try and mess it up, I hope you guy's can work something out and reconcile with each other. As a fellow Jamaican, some of us do suffer from an envious mindset, I'm sure it must have been others who have seen his growth and have sown lies in his mind and brain washed him. I’m so sorry to hear this Matthew, the one who’s really going to suffer is Rat-Rat. It’s a shame that he loses another adult male figure in his life, your relationship with Ratty is inspiring and absolutely beautiful to watch. I have worked in tourism and have seen this happening so many times.
You give an opportunity to someone who was in a situation of abandon or poverty and as fast as this person recovers he starts to want more. The neighbors and relatives always see the foreigner as an opportunistic millionaire.
It is always like that. Stop deluding yourself with the idea of the poor and happy local guy. They dream about money too. No one is poor by choice.

Mat, you're an awesome guy! Ive watched this show for over 8 years and introduced my kids to it too. This was out weekend breakfast show thay we would all gather to watch in the mornings. We loved how you connected with the family at the yard and also the neighbors 😢. We hope Mokko comes back to his senses and you continue this. Peace and love brother ❤. You know, I really believe they can salvage this. I really do.
I don’t think one can really survive without the other because it’s the symbiotic nature of their relationship that makes the channel work; Matthew beautifully captures the essence of the people, their environment & their relationships with one another.
We watch because we like the people & the way they live.
The issue here is a lack of clarity regarding financial compensation. In the beginning of their 10 year relationship, this was only a vision.
Now it has grown into something big with big money involved… they need to now draw up proper terms & conditions with greater transparency regarding earnings & costs.
I believe Matthew when he says great things were on the horizon, because he was always the visionary. It would be a shame to lose that. A real shame 😔
