    Great video. Saw the answer to my questions in other replies. Going to hope the oil seal looks good and forget the oil pump bearing. Way over my pay grade. Got coolant coming out weep hole. Hope the kit fixes it 👍

      Good deal. If the coolant is leaking out then that means the outer seal would be bad so just replacing it should fix your problem

    How did you remove the oil seal?

  • @ecohunter
    @ecohunter 22 дня назад

    Why did you just replace the seal and impeller? Not the whole water pump? Mine is leaking coolant and I'm not sure if I just need to replace the seal and impeller or the whole pump. Thanks

    I just bought a water pump rebuild kit on ebay . It shows a bearing in the picture. Where does that go ? Behind the oil seal ?

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 года назад

      The bearing goes on the shaft that comes through the water pump but I don't think you can access it without taking the oil pump off.

    According to the factory Polaris service manual for these machines the oil seal in question can not be replaced without removing the whole engine case cover and installing it from the inside , they warn that the shaft "will" be damaged. Not sure why , seals like this are replaced in the manner used here all the time . The book also says the engine has to be removed to do this ??? So I would suggest leaving the seal alone if it is not leaking , if oil ever appears from the weep hole you can get another kit and replace it at that time , maybe never . Access is simple so why chance it ? Keith's mechanical , Canada

      Polaris tells you that for 2 reasons: 1 - because they don’t want shade tree Gomer to take a break from digging his nose in the back yard and decide the next best idea is to pry against the oil pump shaft (which will either bend or apply uneven loads across bearing and case surfaces resulting in bearing damage) and 2 - they aren’t the end user footing the bill for the engine out service.

      Su problema puede ser problemas con ambos sellos en la bomba de agua que no es común. Es posible que tenga una cabeza rota si se están mezclando. Algún problema de sobrecalentamiento?

    If the oil seal looks good and isn’t leaking would you just leave it in? What if you can’t get that lip of the seal to pry away from the case? Can you put a screw in it and pull it out or would that damage the oil seal?

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  4 года назад

      If it's not leaking I just leave them in. If you put a screw in the seal it will damage it and have to be replaced.

      Four wheeler Doctor I am losing anti freeze out the weep hole got the upgrade kit on line with the aluminum impeller and it comes with the warterpump seal and the oil seal. I was just wondering how close together the copper part of the seal is to the oil seal behind it. Was curious if I could put a screw into the copper without it touching the oil seal. Don’t want to replace the oil seal it’s not leaking. Just kind of worried on damaging the aluminium casing trying to pry that lip out all the way around it looks hard to get in between the casing and the seal with a screw driver

    How did you put the inner seal behind the outer seal in your razor

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 года назад +1

      I used a deep well socket to press the inner seal over the shaft.

  • @Cilos21
    @Cilos21 3 года назад +1

    Did you have to put grease to press in the inner oil seal

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 года назад

      I usually put a light coat of grease on the inner and outer edges of the seal.

      @@FourwheelerDoctor cause I put just the outer seal with the spring and put new impeller and put everything back together and let it run and it's still leaking from my weep hole but I didn't do the one that you said you used a screw to get out

    • @FourwheelerDoctor

      I used a deep well socket. In most cases you can press on the socket by had and get the seal to slide in.
