Fox News interviewing Kobe Bryant: So Kobe your from Philadelphia, so it begs the question why would want to play for the Los Angeles Lakers?...Kobe: It's my job, it's what I do for a living.
David Stewart i think the criticism here of the author, although not directly stated, has more to do with christians lives being threatened and individuals having been actually murdered in some cases for commenting on or criticizing the Muslim Mohammed.
Saadia ahmad you must be watching a different interview. Maybe you didn’t hear some of the things he said. Do yourself a favor and learn about Islam, since you claim to be a Muslim
Saadia ahmad Yes they do, just not to the people who watch it. Also this man may say he is a Muslim but no Muslim denies the virgin birth and accepts the crucifixion so I am pretty sure they are being sneaky. A real journalist would not fail to point out that his opinions are the opposite of what Muslims believe and the Quran says. I would guess that this man is really a Christian who thinks maybe if he fake converts he can subvert, but that is pretty grandiose. Nothing else makes sense though. Why is there not a Muslim present to inform the audience of the lies this man is guilty of by claiming to be a Muslim? That's FOX, which in English numerology is 666.
Steven Collins Says "Joe Gazali you sound like a nut case 666 has no Biblical significance"... "Read a Book." K. Let's begin with the Bible and 666 allegedly having no significance in it. Which is obviously proof that you need to read the Bible before you start calling people names, among other things. 1 Kings 10:14 The weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold, Not relevant? It's mentioned, so it's significant, relevant, etc, to the Bible, because it is mentioned in the Bible. Three times. 2 Chronicles 9:13 [ Solomon’s Great Wealth ] The weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold. That's the same story, different book. Apparently it was significant to be mentioned TWICE in the OT and in relation to a most significant Prophet (as) at that. Revelation 13:18 This calls for wisdom: let anyone with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person. Its number is six hundred sixty-six How anyone could be unaware that the number of the Beast in the book of Revelation is 666 is a mystery. How that person could delude their self into thinking their ignorance makes me a nut well that's just baffling and hilarious. And how your ignorance means, in your opinion, that I need to go read a book, when what I said was first of all a joke but second of all true, FOX does equal 666 in English numerology and is a significant number in the Bible (although I never actually said it was, you just erroneously said it was not despite the fact it is and that I was kidding)... You get the point. I don't see you coming back from this, you just forced me to know that you are ignorant, and I could have done fine without that information. Because someone who doesn't know the contents of a particular book but thinks they do (for what reason?) should not be telling someone who does know, to, "Go read a book" when the reason they said that in the first place was because they haven't read the book we're talking about. Hilarious. Thanks for making my morning, well, hilarious. It was kind of you to sacrifice your ego for me.
Steven Collins "666 has no significance, that came after the Bible... read a book." Sorry, one more time, I can't resist. I mean, don't insult people who are smarter than you just because you don't know something they do (but we're not actually discussing). You have to be an idiot not to realize that I was just being humorous. Why you wanted to attack my intelligence when you must know that you haven't read the Bible, I mean everyone knows 666 is from Revelation and many know about it's relation to Solomon, though far less, I don't know. I do know it proves you are a lying hypocrite. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle. Yeah been watching GI Joe from the 80's recently. Awesome show still.
I know I'm many years late to the party but I'll add this - most historians really took issue with the facts presented in the book and it was panned within the academic community. at the same time, I'll say it's a good book. I'd give it a solid 9/10. He's a really good writer which turns it into a really fast and interesting read.
Messi you’re from Argentina, why are you playing for Barcelona? Well I’m a professional football player and it is my job to play for any team. I understand but the question is you’re from Argentina, why are you playing for Barcelona !!!
His explanation of the difference between the historic Jesus and the Christ of faith is remarkable. The host should've done her homework on Professor Aslan before the interview and actually read the book. The scholars who agree with him are more numerous than the ones who disagree. Of course you won't hear that from Fox News.
tod beard guess Reza should have come clean instead of lying about his credentials. he has no PhD in "history of religion" that isn't even something that Santa Barbara teaches, which is where his only PhD came from, which was in sociology.
tod beard > goes on about how the host should’ve done homework and read the entire book >goes on to not even watch the whole of the video, and make assumptions of his views an history. Priceless
Zach Harrelson This is how it works, I'll try and keep it as simple as possible. Academia is weird and sometimes the name on your degree does not match up with your *expertise* . What really matters is what area your research is in (i.e. your dissertation). For example, when I was working on my PhD in Biological Sciences here in the UK, my focus was actually on Myrmecology (ants in layman's speak for you). Now my degree would say Biological Sciences, but my final dissertation (and my expertise) would be in Myrmecology. So it would be wrong if people assumed I was a broad based Biologist because my degree technically said Biological Sciences (which happened quite often when I told people what my degree was in). Likewise, it’s wrong to say Aslan didn’t study religion just because his degree says sociology. But don’t just take my word for it, here is a quote from his PhD advisor Mark Juergensmayer; "Since I was Reza’s thesis adviser at the Univ. of California-Santa Barbara, I can testify that he is a religious studies scholar. (I am a sociologist of religion with a position in sociology and an affiliation with religious studies). Though Reza’s PhD is in sociology most of his graduate course work at UCSB was in the history of religion in the dept of religious studies. Though none of his 4 degrees are in history as such, he is a “historian of religion” in the way that that term is used at the Univ of Chicago to cover the field of comparative religion; and his theology degree at Harvard covered Bible and Church history, and required him to master New Testament Greek. So in short, he is who he says he is." By the way in my opinion all religion is false, merely something that is interesting to study as part of human or anthropogical history. It is in science where real discoveries and advancements are made in my opinion.
I read the book, then found this interview. His ability to remain calm and composed is amazing to me, especially as she gets clearly upset and fumbles over the networks array of curated critique's of this mans professional life work. You can tell the point of bringing him on for an interview was to discredit what he wrote, yet the news woman staged to do so cannot even come close to Aslan's profound patience and intelligent response to her questioning.
I revisit this interview every couple years. Brilliant job maintaining his composure and making the interviewer look like the fool she was. My favorite part is how he repeatedly and directly confronts and refutes her attempts to drive the Fox News narrative. I read his book because of this interview and throughly enjoyed the historical perspective.
' but Reza... you're not writing from a pov of an observer' 😂😂 Yes, he is! He got a PhD in religions.. he's got they right to write on any religion. She's so defensive😂
Reza Aslan you came out looking so good in this interview. I have read the book. It is excellent! Thank you for your work. I would love to take a class from you.
I am the most unconditional admirer of his book Zealot, which I read from wall to wall. Had Reza written 5 big books about the early Church history, like Hegesippus did, I would have quit playing the Age of Conan to read them all. His enormously savvy and scholarly descriptions of that jungle of intrigues, disappointments and falsity that was the time of Jesus, is a treat.
Loll he should of left after that first absurd question. This lady is an absolute tool. I never thought an interview would make me laugh so much 🤣🤣. Thank you Reza.
The fact that sights William Craig says it all. Craig like to hear himself talk and bloviates consistently and distorts and takes scientists words out of context in an attempt to prove something that he cannot simply take on faith.
xyman Fair. Agreed haha she is clearly not too clever. Also, basically asking why a scholar of the history of Religion (who happens to be a muslim) would study and write a book on Jesus and/or Christianity, a *religion* . I mean why would he? After all he only explained repeatedly that he is a Scholar of the History of *Religion* . So after all being that, this is his job, why would he write a book about a religion. David kirkness This interview was supposed to be about his book that he has written.. Which has nothing to do with your talking about
I literally started laughing towards the end
"You've never disclosed you're a Muslim"
"Ma'am the second page of my book says I'm a Muslim"
💀💀💀
She never made it past the first page apparently, probably not even past the cover of the book
@@irradiatedbadger well she works for Fox.
I love fox because they make us Muslims look so good.. thank you Fox!

He also has a great personality. Staying calm made the interviewer look ridiculous.
I have his book and it’s really good
💯🔥
Going to buy it to !
The way she says muslim just reeks of pure disgust.
based on this interview im not entirely convinced she even knows how to read
Precisely. It's really hard to watch. But that's Fox News. Illiterate and moronic.
😆😆😆
What a horrible interviewer.
Greg Reis that’s live news for ya
Whoooah, Reza absolutely wipes this interviewer in such a gentleman-like manner
It was embarrassing
he stood his ground very well, she just vouldnt get to him, although she sure got instructions in her ear to try harder
good observation. she was just doing what the boss want to get more views.
LOL you got it man!

It’s like asking vets why they decided to go to veterinary school while they are human!

Yes but stupidity rules. Just look at our president. Enough said
Does she even understand what a PHD is
yo
It's when you have a Pretty Huge D.
PHD=Pizza Hut Delivery?
My friend who failed highschool 6 times is Einstein compared to her.. I should make him watch this to have hope.
He takes everything out of context.
Huge respect for keeping your cool prof! What a nonsense this interview was! 😂
Her focus was solely on her perceived lack of his "authority" to write the book, rather than the book itself. It's an incredible book, by the way.
I can see why fox news hired her
Your comment made me laugh so hard xD

sneifert1968 Islam is illogical, it’s a religion about a dude who rides on a flying horse and talks to sky people.

That black woman forgot that slavery in america and europe was based on church doctrine
Also the Bible was used to enslave black people
Basically
Reporter: you’re English so why would you want to cook Thai food.
Person: I’m a chef
I haven’t read the book but I want to read you some quotes from people who also haven’t read the book
And this boys and girls is what you call journalistic incompetence .
I like to come back to this from time to time.
Me too
Imagine writng a book called Zealot and then sitting infront of one
Reza Aslan you came out looking so good in this interview. I have read the book. It is excellent! Thank you for your work. I would love to take a class from you.
I have to read this book and I have to get a Phd period.
Reza Aslan just nailed her...!!!
She has not even read the book. Omg I am so embarrassed just hearing her....😥
She tried so hard to start a fight to get a sound bite
Ok thank you very much for coming and making me look stupid!!
She was so owned omg.
There is proverb says :
Ignorant people hurts themselves more the enemies could do

Jesus is one of the major prophets of Islam too, why wouldn't a Muslim write about Jesus ????
So she obviously didn't read the book, but she behaved as if she was an expert.
Founder of Christianity was Paul
Why she isn't talking about the book? What kind of reporter is she? Ught such a white washed woman
She couldn't even understand what he said.
Loll he should of left after that first absurd question. This lady is an absolute tool. I never thought an interview would make me laugh so much 🤣🤣. Thank you Reza.
Just FYI, he has no PhD in anything he mentioned. This is now common knowledge
you're wrong
Wrong he has a PHD in Sociology of Religions from UCSB (University of California, Santa Barbara) He has 2 Master degrees as well. Just an FYI
Just FYI, you have no knowledge of his PhD which is now common knowledge 😅
She wsd just listening the microphone in her ears and asking the questions instead of having conversation
That was beautiful lmao he so calmly and eloquently destroyed her biased notions for the world to see, Just beautiful.
PhD on point 👌
She did seem prepared at all for this interview. I just got the book and look forward to reading it.
The interviewer is always trying to lose him the way 😂, unfortunately she can’t
The fact that sights William Craig says it all. Craig like to hear himself talk and bloviates consistently and distorts and takes scientists words out of context in an attempt to prove something that he cannot simply take on faith.
Perfectly said
She would crucify Reza because his conclusion is different 😄
"Why would a democrat want to promote democracy by writing about Reagan?"
"That's fair, I'll give you that."
Obviously this interviewer has not read the book!!!
0:57 By the way Jesus is not the founder of Christianity.
Correct. That would be St Paul

Life is full of little interruptions, reza. I love you not because you and I have the same religion, but because your steady language slays that.
What a bizarre interview 🤔
Applying her logic only children can be pediatricians
boy, was she really unprepared.
"You haven't read my book" I mean yea, that's painfully clear. This anchor sucks at her job
Remarkable Book
She must not be in Television. She must be at home taking care kids
The "News" is not a place for good discussions

It still “begs” the question, she has no degrees
Jesus peace be upon him is a prophet and a messenger and he is not God. Loved it or not.
This is the painful truth.

The shocking thing, is that the most people who work in the biggest broadcasting channels especially in America, are just ignorant....
Man even today this is one of the worst interviews I have ever seen.
Excellent book, BTW.
her second question is an open admission.... "I am stupid" ..... he just f*ing told you why !!
Hahahhaa this Woman...

Still painfully funny. This sketch withstands time.

Ma'am, I think your agenda is showing...
That is not journalism, it's merely tendentious propaganda.
Argument from authority is a weak argument

christian blindness ?
