    About halfway through the episode, right after King leaves Francois to watch over The Collector and prepares to leave the bedroom, we can see something under The Collector's bed. It appears to be a plushie. I think it's a fox (because of the snout and the pattern on its tail), so that might be a reference to "The Little Prince". Their planet-bedroom looks a bit similar to the prince's planet.

    Stringbean's final form is a reference to the episode where Luz carved her egg. She told Eda that she wanted her Palisman to be able to choose their form for themself.

    Luz gave her the ability to be a shifter.

    I definitely think the boiling sea was a result of the war between the Collectors and the Titans. The murals from this episode, and the one from 'Echos of the Past', show the battles being fought on dry land, but the only land we know of in the modern Demon Realm comes from the bodies of Titans. I feel like the Collectors either created it, or at least pulled a Kyogre and dramatically raised the sea level, in order to flood the planet.

    • @LoosieGoosie42

      I always found it weird how there was never any mention of actual land in the demon realm. I mean, it's not like titans just chilled in a shallow pool of water before their extinction. But a global catastrophe cursed by angered collectors does make a lot of sense

    After this episode, I'm starting to think the temple King's egg was hidden in was either made by the Collectors, with the Titans commandeering it later, or made to look like a Collector-made building. The mural inside it is a perfect match to one of the ones in the Collector's Archive, both seeming to depict the Titans as monstrous. It also has a ton of celestial imagery inside it, which is more in keeping with the Collectors' aesthetics than the Titans'. There's the fact that it's built inside the shattered bone of a Titan, which would also mean a full grown Titan wouldn't be able to fit inside. Jean-Luc and the other constructs seem to have been made using flesh magic similar to the kind Belos uses, although it is possible he found that glyph combo on his own since it was documented in his journal. It would've been a smart move on the Titans' part, too. After all, any remaining Collectors probably wouldn't bother to check their own structures when looking for the last Titan egg. It would also explain why only one of the constructs inside was active; the rest were deactivated by the Titans' magic.

Could honestly be wrong and just speculation, but if they are all still aware of what's happening, imagine what Raine must be going through? What Luz doesn't seem to remember about Belos when she met him as he was still going by Phillip is that he was already on the path & that was indicated by what he was looking for, the glass disc that would let him contact the Collector, his decision not to tell Lilith or Luz that they were meant to be sacrifices to the Stonesleeper, what he said about how he'd had trouble learning the glyphs ("almost as if the world wanted to hide them from me") & had already figured out combinations that would let him teleport. She didn't make Phillip into Belos. He was already over half way to Belos when they first met.
    What she needs is to hear again what Eda said to her before being captured in 1x18, but she also needs to hear from her friends, Lilith, Gwendoline, & even Principal Bump about the positive difference she's made in their lives since they've known her. Willow would have continued on the abomination path despite her talents with plant magic. Amity would still be doing what she had been doing & following the expectations that Odalia had in mind for her. Gwendoline would still be chasing false hopes for a cure for Eda from a bunch of con artists, etc. All that she has been focused on since the Day of Unity is the negative aspect of her arrival (which as her friends said, that Belos could have manipulated anyone). Hopefully she will be reminded of all of the good things that have come about for so many since she came to the Boiling Isles in the last episode.

    • @METerrell

      Oh what if Belos ends up killing Luz & the Collector decides to send King back to save her because they both had managed to get through to him to make him realize that Belos was manipulating them & that they never wanted to hurt him, just get him to stop using people as his playthings. Maybe that's how King is in the in between.

    • @METerrell
      @METerrell Год назад +6

      The more I think about it, the more I think that's the case. The Collector sends King back to give Luz magic because in the end her Palisman & the glyphs weren't enough to protect her while stopping Belos. And the only way for King to have the power to give Luz magic is if he is at least in an adolescent form, so he's aged up too.

      To add to these excellent points, it's like Luz not only represents neurodiversity with her ADHD, but she also exhibits symptoms of displaced guilt from the death of her dad. She was only a little kid, and a child's developing brain has a tendency to be self-centric (not self-centered), and attributes their parents behavior and actions as something having to do with them in some way. That being said, a part of Luz has not been addressed in a healthy way, and she has developed a belief that if she can make things right, if she can always be the hero, maybe she can forgive herself for the loss of her father - an event that couldn't be more out of her control.
      Camila finally reconciling herself to be herself, and having her eyes opened to how truly amazing her daughter's "differentness" really is, and giving Luz the very exact thing she needed, tapped into Luz's deep isolation and desire to make things right. Eda is Luz's other mom figure for sure, but the one thing too impossible for the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles, and that was Camila's true acceptance of her daughter, and the unconditional love that comes with that understanding. When she realized she wasn't alone, that was the lightning flash Stringbean needed to hatch at last.
      In a way it makes sense that Disney would cancel this show. It's way, way too good for Disney and it sets the bar much higher than they could ever go.

    For the Future was amazing and it definitely concluded many character arcs, especially with Willow where she was bottling up her emotions but had to let it out, Hunter where after feeling in a rough position after Flapjack’s passing he opens up to Willow and tells him that she means a lot to him.

    Just in case you don’t get to mention it, Willow and Hunter’s pinky hold toward the end of the episode is an intimate gesture that typically suggests flirtation and playfulness. It’s a sign that the relationship between both parties is relaxed and built on firm trust and a strong bond.
    It’s okay if you don’t ship Huntlow (No need to announce it, I’m well aware y’all are out here lol) but idk man, the constant blushing from Willow’s end in this episode and then that key moment really spells it out for me. I have to say this. Ever since "Yesterday's Lie" I've been kind of one the defense of me pointing out how Camila's inability to fully understand her daughter could cause major problems for Luz down the line. I was frequently told I was "projecting" my own insecurities onto Luz. This episode CONFIRMED that Luz needed, more than anything, to feel understood. I doubt I'll get any apologizes or "you were right"s, but I just can't get over that.

    • @theluigifan1
      @theluigifan1 Год назад +36

      I think more people were hung up on the harsh statements and unfounded criticism Camila had thrown her way (I.e. accusing her of being abusive) rather than arguing about the nuance behind Camila’s decisions as a parent. Camila never hated Luz’s antics or personality, she was just afraid of her daughter struggling like she did in her youth so it led her to make an impulsive decision to have Luz sent to that reformatory camp. (Luz being impulsive herself, you can say it’s a “Like mother, like daughter” sort of thing)
      Even before this episode, you got the sense that Camila loved Luz, she just wasn’t sure how to navigate supporting her, especially not on her own without her husband Manny. Being a mom is hard and I imagine being a single mom is even harder.

    • @LoosieGoosie42
      @LoosieGoosie42 Год назад +20

      I'd argue the opposite. I feel as though Camilla understood Luz to a great extent but never knew how to help her daughter. So just how she was forced to conform to society, she began to lead Luz down the same path. Not to say Camilla completely understands her daughter, but having been in a similar situation, she definitely understands the hardship her daughter is going through

    • @HalfBreadChaos
      @HalfBreadChaos Год назад +14

      Two thing can be true simultaneously. One can be trying their absolute hardest to support their daughter, and failing to meet their needs.
      Like Steven Universe, and Encanto, I feel this is a subject that can be difficult to unpack, because a lot of us have generational trauma. One advantage to fiction, is that it can show us a way forward, a way to heal, and mend what was broken, but because we live in a muddy imperfect world, things will almost certainly never be so simple. It's hard to accept and internalize that you've hurt your kid, and it's hard to know if it's wise or safe to give a parent a second chance when they have.
      Working through shared pain is never going to be a smooth seamless process. I feel like fandoms often over-analyze and nitpick the apologies, and the work that the characters are doing, ignoring the fact that the imperfection, discomfort, stumbling, and the little mistakes are all part of it.

    • @mden08

      It seems clear that she fully understood Luz as she went through the same exact thing, yet she caved to the pressure as she was from a dodferent generation where you had no choice but to do so really, in many families at least…was more the norm. She was taught this and as we saw, she lived this as she continued to hide from lose what should have been something perfectly normal to tell her, she was a secret sci-fi buff/nerd… she was still adhering to the same pressure thinking she had to keep this a secret. She did not want to celebrate it because she probably thought that she was doing the right thing to Luz by having Luz not be like her as it caused her problems. But she didn’t tell Luz to conform…she kept the snake skin, she defended her to other parents..we saw all this…instead it wasn’t until the proncipal manipulated and threatened her and as a single mother who had no one else to support her anymore, she caved. She was in a vulnerable place. She loved and supported Luz the whole time but was threatened by the pronciple and trust me, they DO talk just like this principle…it may not be as overt as that camp but this is the pressure you get as a parent for yoir nuerodivergent kid to confirm. The school constantly throws this down your throat and as a single parent? You’re in a vulnerable state. I imagien Dana wrote some of Camilla adter her own mother…it’s a journey, her and Camilla went on together. Camilla always loved amd understood her but caved to rhe constant pressure of the school system
      To try and make her conform ‘or else’,…she was manipulated into thinking she was a bad mother for supporting Luz. Luz was understood but she needed her Mother to tell her…I imagine w/the camp she didnt feel that way. Camilla came from a diff generation where she too meeded to learn to free her own self from the prison she had put aspects of herself in just to get by, doesnt mean she didn’t umderstand Luz…jist that she gave in to the pressure when tricked into thinking her choices for her child were wrong.

    • @Lisa_Flowers
      @Lisa_Flowers Год назад

      @@HalfBreadChaos Great comment and observations. I think what makes this harder is that like you said, fiction is often a lot 'cleaner' and simpler than real life. So things that might take years to happen, happen in an instant and are often a lot more seamless. Camilla is a great parent who made a bad decision under a lot of stress and pressure, but there are a lot of parents who aren't as 'perfect' and generally great outside of the more extreme bad decisions they make. It's easier for Luz to forgive her and for them to get back on good terms because Camilla realized without much convincing that she had made a mistake and pushed Luz away, and she rectified that mistake by supporting her in every other way possible. Many parents don't do this - they take longer to realize they've made mistakes, if they realize it at all. They continue to exhibit toxic or difficult behavior outside of those bigger mistakes. Or the relationship otherwise continues to be strained and imperfect, because even if you know they're trying their best, it still doesn't change the effects of their harmful behaviors. Now Camilla made this realization after the issue came to a head (and not in the many implied disagreements she had with Luz before she run away) so she isn't perfect either, but things still get resolved a lot more cleanly than they typically do irl.
      It's hard for people to not carry their own experiences into the media they consume, especially when there are a lot of gaps left to fill because of how much less complex media portrayals of these kinds of things tend to be compared to real life. It's hard not to overanalyse or project when fictional events in tv shows remind us of real life things we've experienced.

    Guys guys, y'know how the curse Lilith gave to Eda was in a scroll? What if those are the products of the collectors archiving creatures "so they never fade?"
    Was the beast in Eda once a creature that became endangered, so the collectors stored it away? What if Eda's beast, now bonded with Eda through the curse, is making her relive the memory of being captured by the collector, and was native to the titan trapper's island, and that's why the "memory" takes place at their island?
    I hope I make sense or else I'm probably gonna be disproven in the replies and look kinda stupid.

    I don't remember where the theory came from, so I'm sorry, but someone said that the collector that capture the owl beast is different because it's more blue than purple, it's taller, like in the paintings. It also stores creatures in a different way. The Collector currently taking over the isles is using puppets, while the other one uses scrolls.
    I think it was Zeez Vov Geez 2 or The Roundtable that thought of this.

    27:56 Watch the biggest twist be that the Titan corpse is like Attack on Titan, where King WAS his father, but after a Titan uses such godly power, they shed their form and lose their memories, reverting back to a child, and the giant form turns into a burning hot corpse. Maybe THAT’s part of why the Boiling Isles boil. King “reclaiming his crown” might be him regaining those memories and power. If King and his father were one in the same, then the glyph on King’s amulet might’ve been insurance so that even when his memories were gone in his new life, he’d still be safe from the Collectors and their cult. If King regains some primal power, maybe the drawback is that after using it, he’ll forget everything that happened in the show, kinda like the Memory Goner being used on Gruncle Stan’s mind in Gravity Falls, a sacrifice made to protect his family. Plus, it’d be a funny foil to Alex Hirsch voicing Bill Cipher who was the defeated antagonist, sharing his voice with King, the protagonist making a self-sacrifice this time.

    Something that Bellos said to the ghost of Caleb "I tried to save your soul" actually has caught my attention. While most likely he simply meant from the witch. But I've had this theory for awhile that Caleb is the owl beast. Season 1's hidden message is how I came to that theory. But since getting confirmed they were human and that Bellos has been using Caleb's body for things, I figured that theory no longer held water. HOWEVER, the use of the world "soul" is something I found odd. Could Bellos have tried to put Caleb's soul somewhere?
    The full theory incase of any interest, the "curse of feathers and mud" Bellos does look pretty muddy. The feathers we assumed was Eda. But would that make Lilith be mud? Never seen her turn into mud. We know that Bellos betrayed Caleb with a dagger in the back, but Bellos believes Caleb is the one that betrayed him by getting close with Evelynn. "Two witches torn apart, now alone. Two hearts of stone" Magicless witches? Could be Eda and Lilith. But they are not alone at the end of season 1 anymore. But they are without magic. Bellos has been pretending to be a witch while Caleb seemed more into the whole idea of being one.
    There are still plenty of holes to try and fill in. But I couldn't make it whole. One that I was having trouble with was actually the Collector in the owl beast's dream. While typing I may have came up with a patch. On the titan trapper isle there was a broken mirror, like that one that had our kid Collector in. This broken one had another Collector sealed away, but somehow was able to get out. Instead of doing as the kid is doing, it went out to collect. And this Collector could have just left sometime after turning the owl beast into that scroll. A lot of speculation for this part. But it was a tall collector in the dream, not the kid.
    Hopefully this is easily understood. I did my best to make it simple, I think. But still came out a bit longer than I wanted. If you've read to here, thank you for your time, and please be nice to me with any replies. I frighten easy.

      It's an interesting theory and I like that it explains things we don't know about the Owl Beast. However, I think that Belos referenced something he would have learned from his and Caleb's upbringing: "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." He would find it more merciful to kill Caleb and leave him to his due punishment (Hell) than let his soul corrupt any further.
