  • Final Conference of the European Project CoolToRise [cooltorise.eu/] which aims to promote the political debate on the necessary adaptation of cities, their buildings and population to the rising temperatures caused by climate change. To this end, the debate is framed through institutional speeches followed by round tables. One of them features European political agents to discuss public policy recommendations and the following one presents innovative urban initiatives focused on mitigating the impacts of heat.
CoolToRise has been the first project funded by Horizon 2020 focused exclusively on energy poverty in summer. Over the past two and a half years, a range of activities have been undertaken in collaboration with diverse stakeholders and vulnerable families to enhance thermal comfort conditions during the summer season. These activities have included training sessions for summer energy poverty fighters, conducting heat culture workshops (to reduce energy needs during the warm season), bill optimization workshops (to reduce the burden on vulnerable households to cope with the cost of their energy), and intervention in outdoor spaces for the creation of climate shelters. This has led to a reduction in exposure to heat-related health risks
