It wasn’t quickly. He always disagreed with Hamilton ever since they first met, watched Hamilton achieve the things he wanted to achieve, not only career wise but also in his personal life, but didn’t, even though they come from similar backgrounds, and slowly started disliking him for it. A big tell is „click boom then it happened“ in the room where it happens foreshadowing what would happen between them. I think that was the moment when burr truly started hating Hamilton which led him to eventually hate him so much that he would even kill him. The election was just the last straw for him.
Keep in mind that this happened over the course of many years. The musical simplifies it to being just the election of 1800, but Hamilton blocked Burr from winning office at literally every chance he got. The final straw was when he perceived Hamilton as being the reason that he lost his 1804 gubernatorial bid for New Jersey. Other fun facts about Burr include that he was a weirdo who actively destroyed pretty much every piece of paper that contained his personal writings. Basically the opposite of Hamilton in this regard. Allegedly, he gave a speech about the function of the Senate so poignant that it brought the audience to tears (but nobody knows what he actually said in that speech because of his bizarre habits with record keeping). He was exiled for murdering Hamilton whilst actively being vice president, and used this time to try and invade Florida and turn it into his own country. Really. That happened. But he was beaten and brought back to Virginia to be tried for treason by basically the first faction he attempted to recruit. He married a rich woman, only to be divorced by her when it was clear that he was mismanaging her fortune. He died on the day the divorce was finalized. His ex-wife was represented in the divorce by Alexander Hamilton Jr. Finally, my favorite Burr factoid: Apparently, while walking around the capital building, he saw a bust of Alexander Hamilton, touched his face, and whispered "There was the poetry." In conclusion, Burr was, by all accounts, kind of a weird little freak man. The musical is a very good primer, but he definitely deserves some separate research into.
thank you for doing my request :) my grand daughter likes your karaoke duet videos so i decided to request one of her favourite songs of one of her favourite musicals ☺️
Your faces are genius and I had a hard time singing the first verse because I was trying not to laugh and concentrate on the lyrics! But it helped with the timing. XD This was super fun, thank you!
I love singing with your videos so so much and want to thank you deeply for creating this safe space! Amazing voice, acting and you seem really nice! Do you think you'll do Aaron Burr, Sir one day?
This musical makes me feel better as a female alto ❤️
Trying to sing this as a soprano 😭
frl 😭
impossible
I just went up an octave 💀
It's easier if you sing it an octave higher
Just gotta hit my lows but GAWD ITS SO HARD
As I sang this, I thought to myself, how did Burr go from “Alex please vote for me” to “I hate you Hamilton” so quickly
cuz he didn’t vote for him?
