      @BRUCEYBOY Год назад +30

      @FistfulOfGabagool Reach fingertip to fingertip is not the same as the reach when throwing a punch. If his shoulders are wide with a long reach, he means his arms are not as long as people think. This mean that when he's in a stance, his "reach" doesn't exactly match-up to what people think. It's nothing to do with his body, it's his journey getting here that makes him the fighter he is, otherwise combat sports would be dominated by little people lol Tyson lost to the taller fighter that was just as skilled every time. He took too many hits getting in. And it's boxing so it was kind of predictable, it's either a left or right punch lol.
    Volk has the advantage of utilising every weapon at any time. Less predictable with his level changes. He is the exception, not the rule.
    And it's his training and overall fitness from sport that carried over.
    The only way ur point makes sense is this example: the dog closest to the wolf in genetics will be the better dog in terms of less defects. Like the German shepherd, better senses etc due to being closest breed to a wolf. Upto 10% wolf.
    Maybe if u compare volks to neanderthal man, height build etc, maybe volk is an original body type, or closest to our purest form. Like a German shepherd to the wolf.
    Thats the only way I can see ur evidence having any real impact. But I'd argue Marvin Vettori is closer to the neanderthal build, as Italy and some other regions tend to have higher counts of neanderthal DNA, his bone structure is very dense, like an ape, same as Costa, the fact they can make weight at that bulk, would indicate their frames are meant to be that size.

    • @_munkykok_
      @_munkykok_ Год назад

      Good point, but maybe it's also more difficult to squeeze something if you can't easily get around it, and thick stuff is harder to get around than thin stuff.
      Although admittedly your arms should always be long enough to get around people's necks, so I don't quite understand that part either.
      But maybe in thicker necks there's more room for the arteries to 'duck down', if you know what I mean, maybe it's harder to press them off *completely* cause there's more 'give' towards the neck centre, and so therefore there's still some blood/oxygen going to the brain, even if you're pressing onto them a little.
      So yes, you can get a squeeze, but not a 'complete squeeze', maybe... Dunno.

    Even a shorter reach can be worked with. Mike Tyson only had a 70 to 71 inch reach and he was fighting guys that had huge reach advantages. Fight iq is the most slept on talent. Physical size does matter but some one with good fight iq can give a bigger man a good run for his money. Weight matters a whole lot though. Most of these short guys you see getting thrown around weigh a buck fifty or less thats so freaking light. Most guys bench 150 like its nothin. A dude 170 and over is going to rag doll you unless you get a submission plus less weight does mean less knockout power because you dont have a heavy base to throw from. Volk walks around at 170 on the streets and considering he played rugby at 210 he'd still be athletic af.

    Aljo 135 and Brandon Moreno 125, both guys are taller than volk and there’s no doubt that they weigh 10+ lbs heavier on the octagon so there’s an argument to be made about weight bullies.
    Should we restructure the MMA weight classes? Because 10 lbs increments may not solve the problem. What if we experiment with 20 lbs increments?
