It's not "backwards compatability" if you can't put your PS2 disc into the PS5 and have it play from that (whether natively or as a key to download the store version).
If its just Sony putting old games on the store, that's not "backwards compatible", that's just re-releasing old games.
No shade to anyone reporting on this, im just sayin, I don't know if they *are* planning to allow PS2 discs as a key to download these releases, but that's what they should do if they are claiming its about backwards compatibility.
yeah. it makes no sense from a capitalistic point of view to not make a profit off of that. even tho we already bought it.
but those poor companies suffer from the covid crash and only make eight times the profit intstead of ten times...

That's why I like the Series X because you can take Xbox 360 and OG Xbox discs and be able to play them. Obviously not all titles but there is a library of backwards compatibility. Only thing I do not like is these PS2 titles being locked behind a paywall. I have a PS2 but if you have to buy them again then I'll just save the money and continue playing my PS2 games on my PS2 with no internet micro transaction bs

I still have my day1 PS2 in the box. me and two other Homies stayed out in line at Best Buy from 8 o’clock at night to 8 o’clock in the morning for that system … Would never forget it that was experience. It was a party the whole night.

I want socom to come back with servers! Bring the game back to life, Sony! I still play Socom 2 online on PC with a community about 100 ppl max. Streamlining it to the emulator would bring more people back to the OG shooter that started it all.

Don't have my PS2 anymore, but I still have several PS2 games hanging out in a CD case all safe and sound.
PS2 titles I'm anticipating: Dead to Rights 1 & 2, Dynasty Tactics 2, Front Mission 4, Grandia 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Suikoden 3, 4 & 5, X-Men Legends 1 & 2... and probably several others I'm not remembering at the moment.
I hope it is full backwards compatibility with digital and disks

I still have my PS2 that I got on launch day. I even got an HDMI adapter so I can still play it. I'm still pissed Sony doesn't understand backwards compatibility anymore.

man i wish for tons of PS2 games at PS store… and native PS2 backwards compatibility via disc drive of course. I would like to see more PS1 games as well. I hate that piracy is almost only way, that casual non collector gamer can play old hidden gems like - Life force tenka, Team buddies, Omega boost or Future cop LAPD…

I’m 49 years of age and when I purchased ps2 ps3 they were backwards compatible but now it’s just emulators that suck… all of this technology we still can’t put a ps2 ps3 discs in our modern consoles.they just want you to spend more money.. I will just pullout my ps2 ps3 console instead. It just feels more nostalgic than an emulator.
What I want to be back to PS5 is “Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix” one of my favorite racing games

The best versions of most ps2 games got really good hd remasters on the ps3. What we really need is ps3 backwards compatibility. And for the love of god let us insert our discs like Microsoft does.

There's honestly so many games included with playstation plus. It's slightly overwhelming, and awesome at the same time. I found I only downloaded a few games from Xbox game pass, notably Forza, Halo, Age of Empires and Flight Simulator. Everyone used to talk about how superior it was with a crazy big library, but it didn't seem like it had as much as PS Plus does.
The games that i would want will not go on ps5 due to licensing issues, games like Simpsons Hit And Run, Simpsons rage, Road Trip Adventure, it's a shame I'll never get to play them again. But would also love Underground 2, that's more possible since EA is still around and would hopefully agree to make it work but probably not.
Burnout 3, Underground 2, Roadkill, Midnight Club 3, Mx vs Atv Unleashed, True Crime NYC looking better would be sooooo nice

I had a ps2 way back in 1990 something not now tho :) I got me a ps5 slim disk drive now :) I keep up my ps plus premium membership for good reasons. Just renewed it for $170 after tax was $159.00 before tax. The free games alone pays me back in like 2 months or one if I get alot :) Plus all the perks with being a premium member goes a long way with my ps5!
PS2 released in 2000. You didn't have one in the 90's. Maybe you're thinking of the original PlayStation.

I have a couple PS2’s but I use my PS3 Fats for 3 consoles in one to save space. My young children use one of the PS2’s once in a whole as I don’t let them use my Fats
I would like to see Dirge of Cerberus Final Fantasy 7 come out. It was one of the shoot ‘‘em up of a RGP game that I real enjoyed playing back in the early 2000’s.
Wish they would do a updated console that plays the original disc with modern wireless controllers and HD output.
Sly cooper series deserves better. They need to make a new game .Insomniac is still going with Ratchet. They need to get Sucker Punch back on Sly.

Had a PS2 back I the day but sold it when I got the PS3 60GB with backwards compatibility. Unfortunately, that system isn’t working anymore and was replaced with a PS3 Slim. Would be nice to be able to play PS2 discs, but that probably will never happen.
I would really like classics like need for speed most wanted,god of war,crash of the titans,killzone,spartan total warrior,etc to be brought out to modern PlayStations

Got a fat black ps2 with harddrive with lots of games on it. I love that console. I also got the nice blue horizontal stand for it wich looks awesome on the ps2. ^^ ridge racer 5, tokyo xtreme racer zero, dead or alive 2, resident evil 4, odin sphere, kh 1 and 2, silent hill 2 and burnout 2 and 3. So many good games on that system
Got all of them 1-5😊. I wish I could just put my PS2 games into my PS5 and enjoy. Maybe... One day...

I still got my PS2 at home, and plugged in, because I have way too many games from back then. PS2 discs are DVDs. The PS5 can play DVDs. So why can't they make PS2 disc compatibility work??
