Tbf I don’t think Zuko would’ve robbed the pregnant couple even in season one. Even at his worse he was shown to have a moral code which is why he honored his agreement to leave the Water Tribe in peace if Aang surrendered, spared Zhao during their duel, chose the safety of his men over chasing Aang during the storm, chose to save Iroh from the Earthbenders over chasing Aang and tried to save Zhao from the ocean spirit.
I agree. However, back in season one, he still had a ship and a crew at least. He had resources still. Now he's alone; he's desperate. The fact that he still leaves them alone despite his desperate circumstances, and the fact that he was fine robbing people earlier as the Blue Spirit, says a lot about his character.
I'm with you. It's one of the reasons that the pilot episode is one of the best I've ever seen. It perfectly encapsulates the true nature of every character. Its just hard to truly tell if you havent actually watched before.
@@LoseTime-d6m yeah I know. I said he wouldn’t have robbed the PREGNANT couple even at his worst. I didn’t say anything about what’d he’d do if there was no baby.
She literally says all the things that would make sense for Ozai to say. If she was so much of a psycho she would be talking bout HER, but she is not She says Ozai is better fit for the throne than Iroh, Ozai's idea She says Qzulon is old and weak, Ozai's ideas
Azula definitely takes after her father but there are some things that are also just her personality and I don't think could have been taught. Like how she seemed excited to watch Zuko get burned by her father or how she favors manipulation and deception over just using her authority to give orders. It's one thing to copy and parrot what a parent says, but it's another to genuinely feel joy watching someone else get hurt and suffer. I think she's naturally more sadistic than Ozai. Ozai is just ambitious and will do anything for his goals, whereas Azula uses her goals as an excuse to do terrible things.
Obligatory fun fact! This is the only episode in the entire series where Aang, Sokka, and Katara aren’t present. Otherwise, they’d have perfect attendance. :D Y’all are so good with your predictions too. Listening to you guys speculating on Iroh being first in line and something wrong forcing him to drop down… Also the Azulon and Azula connection? It’s always exciting to hear your thoughts when y’all pause
My heart hurts for Azula because she's clearly a groomed and abused kid, but unlike Zuko she followed her father's orders to avoid his wrath. Zuko had his mum, Azula did not. Iroh knew Azula needed comfort and tried to give her a friend, but it was too late for her to see it as a comfort and instead she saw it as a weakness. Had Zuko shown the same prowess as Azula as a child he would have also been groomed by Ozai to be the perfect heir. Iroh gifted Zuko a knife so he could learn another form of fighting that didn't rely on bending. The knife is also the same one they used to cut ties with the Fire Nation. Also the show does explain what happened just not explicitly (probably cos its nickelodeon) Azulon threatened Zuko's life like Zuko threatened the young turtleduck's so the mother's protected their young. Ozai would have absolutely killed Zuko, Ursa knowing that made a deal to take out the current Fire Lord to protect Zuko. That would be classified as treason so Ursa had to leave and Ozai got everything he wanted.
And what's sad is that, (spoilers), in the comic Ursa actually kissed Azula goodbye, just didn't wake her up, she did loved Azula but Azula leans towards Ozai and Ozai basically had a full grip on Azula
@@valentinkambushev4968 and instead of talking with your daughter in a nice way you say "what is wrong with THAT child" .She didn't even say my child ,ahhh the loving family Azula has and then people blame her .
@@ДжесикаИванова-б8ф Vague comic spoilers- . . . But they do in fact touch up on Ursa's less than great parenting toward Azula. She loved her as her child (she was going to run away with Zuko AND Azula) but she could not stop seeing the resemblance from Ozai thus she didn't nurture her the same way and pretty much distanced herself as a parent. This screws with Azula mentally, obviously, and she struggles to get any closure from it. So Ursa definitely isn't faultless here. And not to diagnose but both kids are definitely a product of sociopathy in the bloodline mixed with their already entitled status and unstable parenting on both ends- Zuko in a way was saved because time away from that environment helped him open his eyes to who he is beyond the influences of his family (Iroh as the exception).
@@valentinkambushev4968 sure? I'm not saying I disagree? Just that my comment has nothing to do with Azula... except maybe she was actually telling the truth about Zuko possibly being in danger because of Ozai's disrespect... I was just repeating the line in reference to Ursa doing whatever it takes to see Zuko be safe. Implying she would do _anything_ if it meant he would be.
One of my absolute favourite episodes not only because of zuko's backstory with his mother but also because combined with the episode with song zuko truly sees the harm and negative impact the fire nation has had on the people of the other nations and he understands why they turned their backs on him and accepts it
Zuko's mom poisoned Azulon. Azulon was so angry that Ozai suggested himself to become the crown prince that he really was going to order Ozai to kill Zuko. Zuko's mother, Ursa, found out and conspired with Ozai to kill Azulon to protect her son. She, as the killer, exiled herself.
Its heavily implied that Ursa killed Azulon. There is nothing in the episode to suggest that she felt compelled to escape or that Ozai wanted to get rid of her. But there is Azula telling Zuko about Ozai having to kill him, Ursa getting in the room and taking Azula for a talk and then Ursa leaving in the same night that Azulon died.
@@s4k379 What are you even talking about? In the only flashback we see where Azula and Zuko are present and interacting with something from Iroh, they both get gifts. Ursa also makes sure that Zuko plays with Azula. Its not their fault that shes an evil maniac.
They are for sure implying that Zuko’s mom killed the fire lord to protect Zuko. She ran away because she committed a crime and couldn’t stay there anymore. The firelord told Ozai to kill Zuko as punishment for trying to take the throne from Iroh. Zuko’s mom knew Ozai might actually do it and she obviously wasn’t going to let that happen, so she killed the firelord to let Ozai ascend to the throne and protect Zuko in the process. Zuko has a very fascinating, yet sad backstory.
@@baileym8303 So you confirmed something that the episode *didn't* confirm. You've basically rendered an entire exchange in 3x11 pointless, as by your assertion, it wasn't necessary for people to be told exactly what happened. Through which, you're also implying that ATLA is a show that wastes the viewers' time and insults their intelligence, by repeating obvious information.
I’ve always loved how weird it is that Zuko’s own crew, which consisted entirely of people who grew up in the Fire Nation, needed Iroh to spoon feed them Zuko’s backstory. And then you have this old guy in some random Earth Kingdom village already know his father burned and disowned him.
As much as I love this show I never noticed that, I guess an explanation could be that the fire nation is actively keeping that information secret from it's subject's (doesn't explain the old man knowing but it's the best I could think of)
We need a "the Avatar is on Kyoshi Island?" rumor montage for that information spreading from Zuko's old crew when they got roped into the siege of the north, and eventually getting to this random Earth Kingdom dude lol
@@dodiswatchbobobo I think this is the best explanation. Ever since he officially became a Fire Nation fugitive at the end of 2x1, Zuko's background information has become more public.
To add to the previous points, the Fire Nation propaganda is STRONG - average citizens are under the impression the Fire Lord can't do anything wrong. The ones in charge know about what Ozai did to Zuko, because he wants them to be scared of him and what he'd do if they opposed him. But most people probably don't know, because he wants them to worship him, and they wouldn't if they heard about him purposefully burning his own son
I just wanted to clarify things from this episode without spoiling too much and then I will give the comic book explanation under the "read more" link if you don't intend on reading the comics or don't care about spoilers. Gonna tell you guys right now, so you don't waste your time waiting/looking for it, they don't fully explain the Zuko's mom stuff in this show, you wont get the full explanation from watching this is what i'm saying. They were originally going to put it in a fourth season/Movie but the studios decided to go with the M. Night Movie instead and we all know how that went lol They do however cover it very thoroughly in the comic books that came out just after the show ended, the comics cover most of their teen and early adult years if i remember correctly. I believe they are implying that Zuko's mom did something that ended in Azulon's Death and that's why she fled in the middle of the night. Lets also not forget that this family generally has no issue being blunt and being cruel, so i'm more inclined to believe that Azulon would order Ozai to kill Zuko for trying to betray Iroh than not ya know?😅 Also nowhere do they say that Iroh stepped down from being next in line... :**:Zuko's mom comic book spoilers below::** . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ok so basically Azulon DID order Ozai to kill Zuko and his mother begged Ozai to find another way, Ozai said that if she helped him kill his father so he could steal the throne from Iroh before he returned from war that he would allow her to leave and finally be free of him and that Zuko would live(it was not her choice to marry him, big shock i know lol) So she agreed in order to save Zuko. I believe she poisoned Azulon somehow, i don't remember how off the top of my head. There is much more to this story but i'll leave some more stuff to discover if you're so inclined :) please feel free to fill in or correct anything in this comment(behind a spoiler warning please!) its been a minute since I've read the comics😅
Her father praised azula for her fire bending so she mostly spent time with him. Zukos mom sympathized for zuko for not meeting his father’s standards so she spent more time with him. And azula became jealous. Because she spent so much time with her dad she talked like him. And when her mom left she was hurt because she thought she was the reason and that her mom thought she was a monster. A lot of people think that because azula is a prodigy and perfectionist her flames are blue. However another word for a perfectionist is a master. And the avatar is a master as well and prodigy when it comes to bending. And yet not one of the avatars in the past fire turn blue. She’s definitely skilled with the moves she uses when it comes to fire bending. Her bending was orange as a kid and had turned blue when her mom left and she was left in the toxic relationship of her father. Her blue flames could do more with the fact she has a drive to make everyone obey her so that don’t leave. We see more of her mental issues later in the series. It’s possible I’m wrong because we’ve never seen a fire bender with blue flames before. However we also have never seen another fire bender in the avatar universe with mental issues like azula’s.
What? Another word for perfectionist is not a master. A perfectionist is someone who needs to do everything perfectly. A master is someone extremely good at something and so very rarely makes a mistake. They are not the same. Fire in the real world turns blue for two reasons. One, because it is very hot. Blue fire is hotter than normal fire. And two, because it is very pure. Blue fire is pure gas with higher percentage of oxygen, while regular fire has soot and other imperfections in it. So it stands to reason that Azula's fire is blue for the same reasons. She needs to be perfect, so her fire is also perfect, without impurities. She was also a fucked up kid before Ursa left too. So if it was truly about her mental health, it should probably have been blue before Ursa left as well. Of course, the real world reason Azula's fire is blue is to make her stand out as the villain.
I think the reason why Zuko and Azula are two different flavors of "troubled" is because their mom was very good and their dad was very evil, so anything they do that mom approves, dad disapproves it. So Zuko ended up closer to their mom, feeling rejected by their dad, while Azula grew up closer to their dad, feeling rejected by their mom.
Zuko in my opinion has the best development out of everyone in the avatar series. From this episode of him wandering alone, to him at the end of the series helping aang and accepting his destiny. The writers did a great job!
@@cctomcat321in a recent video, they explained that they had just watched the series finale of atla. They record these episodes way before they come out on youtube, in real time they’ve already finished the show! So there’s no harm in a spoiler comment at this point
This here!! Easily top 3 episode in the series! Zuko seeing the scars of what this 100 year old war has done to other nations while we take a dive in Zukos past only to see his scars are more severe than the one his father gave him
One of my favorite parts of this episode is when Zuko reveals himself, he leads by saying that he's Ursa's son, not Ozai's. Normally, especially with royal families, you introduce yourself by your lineage by the father or the one in power first but to him, Ursa is the most important. It really shows how much he loves his mom and his false pride with his dad. PS: The Ursa thing kinda gets explained in the show and is fully explained in the comic, so after finishing the show I recommend reading those if you have the time. They're pretty alright, though tbh not written too well IMO lol. Art's great though
Just a little info Ursa was an expert herbalist so you can imagine what Ozai wanted her to do to say Zuko’s life. Btw they have a pretty sweet comic series set after s3 of Zuko tracking his mother down and bring her home
Asuming that you guys wont read the ALTA comics spoilers ahead! Zuko and azulas mom ran away because of her abusive husband, the fire lord on her journey she met some sort of goddess so who offered to erase some of her memories but the only was that shed end up looking drastically different so when zuko headed out on his journey to search for her he had a lot of difficulty doing so
To add to this she made a deal with Ozai to poison Azulon in turn Ursa would have to disappear so no one would find out the truth. She met “the mother of faces” the mother of the face stealer Koh who takes pity of her offering to change her face and memories returning to the village she was taken from and marrying her old lover. Also another detail is that Ursa is the great granddaughter of Avatar Roku so in turn it kinda makes Zuko and Aang long lost cousins
My favourite theory about this episode is that Azulon never meant for Ozai to kill Zuko. Rather, he planned to give Zuko to Iroh and basically have him adopted. Hence, punishment doled out and lineage kept intact without compromising any more heirs; two birds with one stone. This would put Zuko ahead of Ozai in line to the throne though, and there's no way in hell Ozai would ever let that happen.
This episode hit me way too hard for Zuko. Iroh is a savior, without him in his life who knows how would he became by living with her father and sister. Iroh kept the good side that her mom was giving to Zuko, until the punishment from his father happened ;w; This episode do gave us a good picture with Zuko´s struggle in his life.
It's not just one thing with Zuko. Which makes sense. Hard to say where his journey started, or if it was always in progress. I'd say the very beginning of the turn was when he cut off his pony tail thing. I like that it's not just a complete heel turn with Zuko. He has to fight at redeeming himself. That includes fighting _with_ himself. The writing is just **chef's kiss.**
I mean even if it is a fictional charaecter it represents reality . Azula is heavily used by Ozai ,her abilities ,her talent was all he needed to take her under his wing. Zuko has no to little talent he never took his fathers' attention . Because of that Azula learned all the things she knows ,Zuko wasn't that much influenced by Ozai . Please give Azula slack ,she deserves love ! Btw ,Azula saved Zuko by teasing him about him getting killed ,because that is how Ursa got the information and then prevented it .
Once you find out who ursa grandfather(in a much later episode in book 3 so no spoilers) is the reason ozai CHOSE her to be his wife and she came from a herbalist family so she made a deal with ozai to keep zuko safe and she would make a poison to kill his azulan so ozai gets the throne. (But this info is in the comics if you want more details of what happened to her specifically
So about Zuko’s mom: avatar the last airbender as long as I remember have a comic from authors that continue story (kinda, it’s short to be honest) his mother escaped back to her home in village where she grown up, where she find a spirit who making faces for all living. And she changed her face in exchange of her memories. As I remember Zuko’s father was planning something and for safety of her son she did all that.
i like the idea that just like azula was the favored child and zuko the unfavored one, that iroh was favored and ozai unfavored. this episode makes me think ozai has been wanting the throne for his whole life for prideful and spiteful reasons and it's interesting to me that his and zuko's place in the family structure is kinda similar, and yet they both had different reactions and had came to different conclusions about their childhood/family. (ozai hates the world and zuko hates himself)
Funfact: There actually are wooly bred pigs in real life who's purpose was to produce yarn before getting slaughtered. However they obviouls never reached the productivity if sheep and are now an endangered captive bred. There was a house around the place I grew up in that had three of them and it was wild every time I saw them
in the comics we learn that Ursa (Zuko and Azula's mom) made a deal with her husband, she made a poison that has no smell or taste, he then uses this tasteless odorless poison to kill Azulon presumably in his sleep so he could take the throne and stop Zuko from being killed
This episode is pure development for Zuko. Here is how he gets the way the rest of the world sees the fire nation and experiences first hand what the war did to the world.
12:27 the biggest difference between these two kids is ones a Daddy’s girl, and the other is a Momma’s boy. With a dad like Ozai that makes all the difference.
Ruffs theory about what happened in the night of Firelord Azulons death would make so much sense and I think I would have thought that too, if there wasn't the scene in the beginning with the turtleducks. It seems kind of irrelevant, but that totally was foreshadowing. The turtleduck mom going after Zuko, when he threw the bread at her child. And than that important line from Ursa: "Zuko, thats what moms are like. If you mess with their babies... they'll bite you back." Yeah she did kill Azulon to protect her son and Ozai knew about it and used it to become firelord. So, props to Boom for figuring that out.
Careful you guys with the comments on this one, some are spoilers Good job on the different theories, hope you'll enjoy the rest of this amazing season ❤❤❤
@@sortastupid In that case, I hope that guy on the bottom of the screen got his moment of vindication in Book 3. Especially, seeing as what he predicted was immediately shut down.
Top tier episode for book 2 pivotal in Zuko’s view of himself and if the Fire Nation showing him just how they have effected the rest of the world with the war
I love the naming of all their characters, especially zuko’s mom. Ursa is the name of the mother bear constellation. And everyone knows mama bears will literally kill to protect their young.
it means bear in Latin, it still carries that spelling in Portuguese so it is kinda funny whenever the VA uses that line (Dante Basco) he loves saying it in conventions, and for my Portuguese ears he's just saying: I'm Prince Zuko, son of bear and Fire Lord Ozai 😆
Y'all think of the critter names as a translation convention. We're not hearing anything in the original language, we're hearing a translation, and our translations for these critters are based on what they look like to us.
We get another top tier episode but one of special significance, since it's Zuko Alone, no Aang, no heroes, this is Zuko's quest of discovery and backstory, while also being framed as a classic Western: a strange man in a strange town, though it's no happy ending for the cowboy when he rides off into the sunset. Tragic in many layers, even when Zuko tries to do good, his heritage and nationality immediately alienates him from the people he saved against oppressive Earthbenders. The tragedy of Zuko's mother also shows that there is an element of kindness in him he got from his mother, as well as echoing his prior statements of his difficulty impressing his father (and grandfather) compared to Azula's natural talent - while also being as cruel and snide as a child as she is today. But we also have a bit of Game of Thrones action going on here, Iroh having lost his son and abandoned his siege on Ba Sing Se was supposed to be Fire Lord, but Ozai the younger brother snaked in...at least, he tried, but his father is also a merciless sort and targets Zuko to be sacrificed to punish the sins of his father. But before it can happen, the Fire Lord dies, Ozai takes the throne, and Zuko and Azula's mother disappears...curious isn't it? Also Earthbenders using hammers is underrated, didn't get used enough because it's kinda OP. But it made for some good combat against Zuko's refined combat and sword training. Sirs, in this fandom we don't condone Turtle Duck slander.
I hadn't thought about this before, but -in our world, it's pretty common to show relationships between groups of animals using a branching tree. In the Avatar world, would it be a Venn diagram instead?
The currency is made of metal so no one can just make there own money. Also those giant circles are more or so the Earth Kingdom Symbol since it is literally everywhere in the Earth Nation, the money is shaped like it, the flags are shaped like it, even when the gaang went to that General's place to learn how to control the avatar state they were throwing around those giant discs.
Talking abour Ba Sing Se - "I thought it was going to be a little strong hold" ooh boy are y'all in for a treat the ba sing se arc is one of my favorites lol
Season 1: guys from Zuko's OWN CREW think his scar was just an accident Season 2: after becoming traitor to the Fire Nation, A RANDOM WORKER IN A RANDOM SMALL TOWN knows why he got burned and why he got banished from the Fire Nation. I love this lil piece of world building that the Fire Nation controls everything but not just in brute strength, they got EVERYTHING under control, including and most importantly, information
You don't remember the earth kingdom money from season 1? Copper pieces, silver pieces, gold pieces. They're round coins with a square punched through the center.
It's so interesting to think about the animals are called by their two separate animals, as if they know of the existence of ducks and turtles as separate...
No you guys! It's literally in the episode when the turtle-duck attacks Zuko and his mom tells him that that's how mothers are when it comes to protecting their kids. When Firelord Azulon told Ozai to sacrifice his own son, he was going to do it, but Zuko's mom stepped in and protected him and offered Ozai to kill his dad instead of Zuko so he could become the firelord. Ozai banished her for killing his dad.
Azula was a prodigy child, in intelligence and athleticism, but as with a lot of prodigy children she lacked empathy. There's a comic that told Ursas story, and went into more detail about why she left. It wasn't exactly kid appropriate for the show, which is why it wasn't put in. They only hinted at in in the show. Her story is truly tragic. In the end, she was a good mother who would do ANYTHING for them.
Azulon to Ozai: your punishment has scarcely begun (directly after referencing Iroh’s suffering at losing his son) Ursa: Mom’s will do anything to protect their children azulon was going to force ozai to kill zuko. ursa made a deal with ozai to stop him from doing that: she would kill the firelord so that he could become firelord. And then she had to disappear after committing regicide
I dont know if this counts as a spoiler, because i dont think it gets mentioned in future episodes. But it is canon that Zukos Mom killed Azulon and then left the Firenation to safe zukos life.
Sometimes I wonder if this is a kid's show or Game of Thrones without the gratuitous sex and violence. I always suspected that Azulon had no intentions of letting Ozai, or his offspring, to ever sit on the throne. He knows how evil, crazy, and vindictive Ozai is. Azula has been groomed from birth to be as power hungry, evil, and crazy. He assumes Zuko is as well. Also, the fact that Azulon refers to Lu Ten as Iroh's beloved son suggest Azulon loves Iroh and his grandson, Lu Ten. Well, he loves them as much as his evil self can. In any case, Ozai started stabbing his elder son in the back before Azulon had a chance to even begin grieving. So, by ordering the death of Zuko he assures that Ozai will not usurp Iroh, and Ozai's line ends. These people are crazy. He didn't count on Zuko's mother being will to protect her son at all cost.

I don’t know if it’s mentioned in the comments, or in the comics, but at some point, Ursa make comments to Ozai that made him believe Zuko was not his biological child.
Y’all had actually gotten it right on your first guess. Azulon ordered Ozai to kill Zuko and Ursa wouldn’t stand for it. So she and Ozai came up with a plan which saw her poison Azulon allowing for Ozai to usurp the throne which would allow him to spare Zuko’s life.
I personally think that Zuko’s mom took his son’s place as the “sacrifice” that Ozai had to pay. She wouldn’t kill anyone and just wanted to protect Zuko
They didn’t have an issue with him being a prince, they had an issue with him, being a fire bender, because most of the fire benders they came across, want to rule and conquer them.
Zuko refrained from using firebending in the first place not as a flex but because he's literally in enemy territory, also it is part of his personality to never lie. like he physically can't, at least not well. so when he starts telling everyone who he is, he's not ashamed of it and doesnt feel the need to lie. Zuko also is more adept at swords in general vs firebending and I personally think he just got over angry during that fight and chose to use fire instead cause he was pissed so in a sense... he lost his own moral battle here. also ye no Ursa straight up killed Azulon.
not really a spoiler but in one of the comics it’s pretty much confirmed that ursa (zuko and azula’s mom) killed azulon by poisoning him so that ozai wouldn’t have to kill zuko. it’s even foreshadowed at the beginning when ursa tells zuko about how mothers will do anything to protect their babies from harm.
Honestly, I had been struggling to get into Avatar. I think some of it was because it was so hyped up and also because I went in with expectations- as well as I was in a weird spot in my personal life so I had trouble with it. But Zuko Alone was the turning point for me!
What hype and expectations did you have? The writing alone with how they carry dialogue, themes, life important messaging, and more, along with some very memorable characters and side characters, it's crazy how amazing this show is
Boys totally not related to this video but Lackadaisy dropped a teaser for it’s official first season and a link to go fund it below which ends on August 24th in case u guys wanna support too 🎉
Im an azula fan. Remember she never had support. HEr mother thought she was a monster, her role moddel was Ozai. This entire episode she is probably just saying what ozai taught her. Zuko had Iroh as a teenager. Azula didnt.
"I don't think they can control the metal" Uh huh, suuuuure. Though now we know better, I'm guessing it's just the laws in place that stop them from making currency, like in FMA, gold-alchemy is forbidden.
Not sure if it’s mentioned in all the comments or not, interesting fact about this episode is that this is the only episode in which Aang, Katara, Toph, and Sokka are not mentioned or even seen.
Iroh and Zuko's mom didnt spend as much time with Azula, kinda just leaving her with her father as her largest influence You can see that Iroh knows next to nothing about Azula in the flashback and her mom spends much more time criticizing her (admittably bad) behavior instead of connecting with her on a deeper level. But, as someone who works in child care, the way to foster better behavior and attitudes is to "catch kids being good". This means reinforcing even some of the most simple behavior that doesn't seem like such a big deal to us adults
Actually, Zuko’s mom, Ursa, did kill Azulon. The story is better explained in the sequel comics, but basically, she and Ozai struck a deal. She would visit Azulon since he trusted her and poison his tea, allowing Ozai to lie about himself becoming the next Fire Lord. And in exchange, Zuko got to live because Azulon really did order Ozai to kill him.
I feel like you guys didn't spend enough time really absorbing the important message this episode brought. Like we meet Zuko and Azula's mother for the first time, we get a better look at how Zuko was before he was banished and how he was once this pure good child (I mean he still is good obviously but I mean that he wasn't always this angry short tempered "antagonist"), and we get a good look at Zuko's redemption arc with how he was helping this family and how he was unfairly treated at the end after revealing himself as a firebender and a prince of the fire nation. I mean I guess it's not unfair cause it is understandable why they reacted that way but it's just how he didn't get any points for clearly having good intentions.
yall need to read the post story comics that exist somewhere, it's like teenage+ aang and crew, you get a lot of loose ends tied up and cool story anyway.
Zuko's mom definitely killed Azulon to save Zuko from Ozai. In the comics Ursa (Zuko's mom) was forced to marry Ozai so Ozai was always insecured about her loyalty and he got paranoid that Zuko is not his son but someone else's. That's why Ursa is so afraid that her husband would take her son's life because he had all the reasons to.
Azula is definitely greatly influenced by her father because she spends time with him, but Zuko was always comforted by his mother and took after her
She literally says all the things that would make sense for Ozai to say.
If she was so much of a psycho she would be talking bout HER, but she is not
She says Ozai is better fit for the throne than Iroh, Ozai's idea
She says Qzulon is old and weak, Ozai's ideas
@@eloquitodelaesquina yeah she’s most likely literally just repeating what she hears
Y’all are so good with your predictions too.
@@friendofdorothy995 😭 I havent read the comics but thats so sad especially regarding Azulas comment in s3 (being vague cos i dont wanna spoil)

@@bch7905 you are right
@@valentinkambushev4968 sure? I'm not saying I disagree? Just that my comment has nothing to do with Azula... except maybe she was actually telling the truth about Zuko possibly being in danger because of Ozai's disrespect...
I was just repeating the line in reference to Ursa doing whatever it takes to see Zuko be safe. Implying she would do _anything_ if it meant he would be.
Zuko’ s journey of self-discovery is such an amazing aspect of this show.
The comics confirmed that
Plus the foreshadowing of Ursa saying "That's what moms are like. If you mess with their babies..."
@@s4k379 What are you even talking about? In the only flashback we see where Azula and Zuko are present and interacting with something from Iroh, they both get gifts. Ursa also makes sure that Zuko plays with Azula. Its not their fault that shes an evil maniac.

YEAH zuko alone is such a good episode and one if the best episodes showing zuko's growth
Also TURTLE DUCKS LETS GO
They are for sure implying that Zuko’s mom killed the fire lord to protect Zuko.
This is kind of spoilery js

@@baileym8303 So you confirmed something that the episode *didn't* confirm. You've basically rendered an entire exchange in 3x11 pointless, as by your assertion, it wasn't necessary for people to be told exactly what happened. Through which, you're also implying that ATLA is a show that wastes the viewers' time and insults their intelligence, by repeating obvious information.
@@kayzaacWow, somebody is feeling overprotective today, aren't they?
Check out the kyoshi novels and yangchen novels

I believe it’s implied she hit him really hard with a statue or a heavy vase
Remember the turtle duck scene. That should answer anyone's question about who killed Azulon.
Hope they see this
I can't believe I hadn't connected Azula's abandonment issues back to their mom leaving them
Let's not give it all away... We know where he ends up. They don't, yet.
You should edit the spoilers out.
IMO, they should do that before starting Korra (assuming they are not going to jump right into that)
"The father is gonna kill the grandfather and take the throne"
Right idea, wrong parent.
Zuko has the best character development in the show
I just realized one reason why ozai favors azula more, it’s because they’re both second borns.
Its your headcanon....its stated he likes her because she's a prodigy and She thinks like him
No second born BS
Love how the overlay changed back to nani no anime
8:36 Azula was named after him, showing how Ozai preferred her
It was mentioned earlier that Iroh was sieging Ba Sing Se for 600 days but failed to capture the city.
14:59 He hangs out with her mom for that reason, not the other way around. Don't try to excuse his behavior
i love how you guys didnt notice the "ostrich horse" zuko has ben riding
My favourite theory about this episode is that Azulon never meant for Ozai to kill Zuko. Rather, he planned to give Zuko to Iroh and basically have him adopted. Hence, punishment doled out and lineage kept intact without compromising any more heirs; two birds with one stone. This would put Zuko ahead of Ozai in line to the throne though, and there's no way in hell Ozai would ever let that happen.
Damn
This episode hit me way too hard for Zuko.
Iroh is a savior, without him in his life who knows how would he became by living with her father and sister. Iroh kept the good side that her mom was giving to Zuko, until the punishment from his father happened ;w; This episode do gave us a good picture with Zuko´s struggle in his life.
Ozai: we do a little trolling
**Becomes Fire Lord**
Zuko really needed this as a wake up call.
Ba Sing Se is the capital of the earth kingdom.
Fun fact, aside from Ba Sing Se, Omashi is the only other earth kingdom location with royalty.
you guessed exactly right
So about Zuko’s mom: avatar the last airbender as long as I remember have a comic from authors that continue story (kinda, it’s short to be honest) his mother escaped back to her home in village where she grown up, where she find a spirit who making faces for all living.
There was a house around the place I grew up in that had three of them and it was wild every time I saw them
No yeah Azula is absolutely CRAZY
in the comics we learn that Ursa (Zuko and Azula's mom) made a deal with her husband, she made a poison that has no smell or taste, he then uses this tasteless odorless poison to kill Azulon presumably in his sleep so he could take the throne and stop Zuko from being killed
Careful you guys with the comments on this one, some are spoilers

So the funny thing about ozai with how much younger he is then Iron it is theorized that the man was a accident 😂
Azulon pull out game was weak
11:11 It's nice to see some point in the past zuko and azula playing and being happy with one another, even if it is brief
Y'all think of the critter names as a translation convention. We're not hearing anything in the original language, we're hearing a translation, and our translations for these critters are based on what they look like to us.
13:15 No, Azula's crazy, and she needs to go down
Zuko Alone was my favorite episode back when I was a kid.

Why did it magically change from sorta stupid right back to Nani no anime? 8:22
You don't remember the earth kingdom money from season 1? Copper pieces, silver pieces, gold pieces. They're round coins with a square punched through the center.
I know it's been a while for y'all but I'm glad to see where y'all finally met my favorite character
I think it's as simple as Ozai unalived Azulon and blamed it on Zuko's mother. And she happily took it to protect her son and family.
No it's been confirmed that she did indeed kill Azulon to protect Zuko from being killed. That's why she disappeared. She exiled herself.
Azulon to Ozai: your punishment has scarcely begun (directly after referencing Iroh’s suffering at losing his son)
Ursa: Mom’s will do anything to protect their children
azulon was going to force ozai to kill zuko. ursa made a deal with ozai to stop him from doing that: she would kill the firelord so that he could become firelord. And then she had to disappear after committing regicide
I dont know if this counts as a spoiler, because i dont think it gets mentioned in future episodes.
But it is canon that Zukos Mom killed Azulon and then left the Firenation to safe zukos life.

Been 4 months, it’s from Adventure Time
Sometimes I wonder if this is a kid's show or Game of Thrones without the gratuitous sex and violence.

Whoo Zuko
They didn’t have an issue with him being a prince, they had an issue with him, being a fire bender, because most of the fire benders they came across, want to rule and conquer them.
one of my favorite episodes as a kid
and my favorite episode as an adult
“The mom definitely didn’t kill anyone”….💀
Iroh and Zuko's mom didnt spend as much time with Azula, kinda just leaving her with her father as her largest influence
You can see that Iroh knows next to nothing about Azula in the flashback and her mom spends much more time criticizing her (admittably bad) behavior instead of connecting with her on a deeper level.
Love this one also I think iroh would be only half the man we all know and love if his son didn't die
yall need to read the post story comics that exist somewhere, it's like teenage+ aang and crew, you get a lot of loose ends tied up and cool story anyway.
Honestly, first time watching Avatar, i didnt even notice the weird Crossover Animals.
everyone is talking about zuko but i'm here to say turtle duck is a parody of turtle dove
Iroh broke through Ba Sing Se's outer wall but did not manage to capture the main city itself.
Zuko such a W
