    Handy tool for sure.
I got one with a case and used velcro on the battery so it wouldn't flop around.

I really need to order a case, the floppy battery is a big weak point

I have four different meters of that type ,one I bought from a kit ,one comecial one for 24.99,some of them have adapters for clip on wire for testing on the circuit board .they all work great .they all have there own speciality .it helps us that don't always want to use a multimeter ,and give us extra info ,and I never spent more than 24.99

+Ron Thompson I wonder if they will make one with the extra multimeter functions, that would be neat

Those are fantastic, especially for the price. I absolutely love it. Unbelievably handy, especially if you are like me and you like to strip components off junk stuff. I did buy a upgraded version with a color display that is in a nice acrylic case, but I still use this one a lot. You just cannot beat it for the price.
Also, if you're interested in tinkering with it, you can find the instructions to upgrade the firmware here...
    www.mikrocontroller.net/articles/AVR_Transistortester
It's not the simplest of procedures, but doing so will increase the number of components it can identify.

Because of people like you ,I ended up by four different ones, one was a kit one was a commercial grade in a case and two other version I bought, its because of your great video ,I have four meters ,just kidding thanks for your videos ,I hope you do some more kit building, there is a digital egg timer kit,and a flashlight kit,and a kit that lights up when you talk on your cell phone,eBay stuff, and a very cool FM radio module, under FM modules on eBay,just a idea

What do the two holes above the dustbin do? They seem to go to the crystal around the back.

Why don't any of these "M328" reviews (not even EEVblog) care at all about electrolytic cap polarity, i.e. damaging them by reverse voltages probably applied during the test?

    • @lunakid12
      @lunakid12 6 лет назад +3

OK, I found out about that issue (here: www.avrtester.tode.cz/upload/ttester_en.pdf):
"Normally the polarity of part is irrelevant, you can also connect pins of electrolytic capacitors in any order. The measurement of capacity is normally done in a way, that the minus pole is at the test port with the lower number. But, because the measurement voltage is only between 0.3V and at
      most 1.3V , the polarity doesn´t matter."
      Phew. That was close. :)

Where were these testers 35 years ago when I bought questionable components for electronic experimentation because I couldn't afford full price ones?

Did you watch the video? It can measure and identify more than a multimeter is capable of doing. For less than ten dollars they are not a bad piece of gear.

if you want to sell it to me I would appreciate. I bought one and burned it while trying to adapt a plug for external power. I blew one little transistor near the battery cables, I guess reversed polarity did the job.
